Chapter 20

Blair's POV
I braid Pixie's hair very slowly. Making sure every piece of her hair is in the braid.

"Thank you," Pixie says, emtionless.

I can't stand this. If Pixie were any other human being in the world, I swear, I would have smacked her. Pixie isn't allowed to be emtionless. She needs to be smart and happy and supportive and dorky. Pixie had to be Pixie.

Seeing Pixie in a constant state of sobbing would be better than Pixie like this.

"Are you hungry?"

"No."

"You need to eat."

"I will."

I glare at her because she is being too much like me. She's bottling up everything and trying to be brave.

"Do you want to talk about it...?"I ask hesitantly.

She looks down ground. "I can't unseen it, Blair......when I close my eyes all I can see is his body and-" Pixie's voice cracks and she starts crying. Crying very quickly turns into violation sobbing.

I feel tears at the corner of my eyes. No, I can't cry. I need to be strong for Pixie.

Once the first few tears slip, I'm crying almost as hard as Pixie. I grab on to her and hug her, for God nows how long. Once we stop her face is stained with tears and I feel the long streaks on eye makeup on my face.

"This is why I don't cry, it ruins my makeup," I say quietly. For a moment that makes a small smile crawl on to Pixie's face. She took a deep breath.

"Can I ask you something?"

"You can ask me anything, I just might not tell you the truth."

"When Jason died, when did it stop hurting?"

Memories of Jason's death and the time after it burn a gaping hole in my brain. "It always hurts a little bit. Even after a long time it hurts. Even now he's alive but the memories still hurt. You just have to learn to live with it, Pix. You have to learn to fight through the pain."

Pixie started at me with her big, blue eyes. "Death sucks."

I grin at my friend. "Trust me, it does. Now, you should get somw sleep or else I'm forcing you to eat something."

"I'll sleep." Pixie gave me another hug, curled up in a little ball, and closed her eyes. After 20 minuntes or so her breathing becomes calm and steady. I turn towards Jay who has been leaning silently anginst the wall.

His face is dark. "What is it?" I ask.

"The Heretic is dead," Jason replied.

"You killed him?"

"No. Not me."

Third Person, Then
"Do you see her?" Tim hissed through the com.

"If I, did do you think that she would be breathing?" Jason snapped back.

"I guess your right."

After seeing Damian dead, Tim and Jason went looking for Talia. Jason went because he didn't think he could deal with emotionally unstable Blair. Tim went because he was the only member of the Batfamily who was still capable of thinking straight at the time.

"I've got a visual on her....amd Heretic!"

Jason pulled the safty switch on his gun. "Two birds with one stone."

"Wait. Don't do anything stupid. I think I can get audio." Tim opened up the window he was crouching beside and dropped down a small microphone attached to a cord.

"-When did I ever give you the premission to kill him?" Talia spat.

"You did not."

"By killing him...you have thought for yourself."

"No, I-"

"You let your emotions dictate your discussion. This shows that you are not as obedient as I previously thought."

"Mother, please I can do better. Just give me another chance-"

"-It is Lady Talia to you." Talia took the sword from her side and in an effortless motion decapitated Heretic. "Second chances are not given to those who disobey."

"Did you see that?" Tim whispered into the com.

"Yeah....yeah I did," Jason replied, breathless.

"We have to go tell everyone."

Third Person, Now
"So Talia killed her own creation because she was upset about Damian's death? That makes no sense."

"Well that's what happened."

"No, there has to be more, there is always more."

"Princess listen, yes there is probably more, but we don't need to figure it out tonight."

"Fine."

"Good. Let's go get some sleep." Jason grabbed Blair's hand and began to pull her out of the room, but she resisted.

"I'm going to stay here. Just in case Pixie needs me."

"Pixie will be-"

"I'm staying here, Jason." Blair's tone was firm.

"Just get some rest. We have to go to a funeral in about eight hours." Jason kissed her on the forhead and left the room.

Blair spread out on her designated half of the couch. The all too vivid memory of Damian's body hitting the ground played in her head.

Once again, Blair Blake cried.
