Chapter 17
Rain rolled down the windows of the limo as it pulled up next to Gotham Acadmey.
"Why is it always scorching hot, freezing cold, or pouring rain in Gotham? Why isn't it ever just nice outside?" Pixie asked.
"There is occasionally a day of nice weather. It is sadly very rare," Alfred replied. "We have arrived, I hope the both of you have the most pleasant day."
"Thanks Alfred." Damian pulled Pixie out of the limo to the safety of his large, black umbrella.
"I'm surprised you force me to tattoo 'property of Damian Wayne' on my forehead before coming to school," Pixie said with a smile.
"There is no need to. If any other male attempts to take you from me, I would remove his eyes." Pixie stared giggling uncontrollably, not thinking that Damian was serious. It was only after they walked into the school building and his expression was exactly the same did she relize how serious he was.
Pixie and Damian passed one of their teachers, Mrs. Alexander, while they were walking to the school library. "Mr. Wayne, I have a large box I have to take to the office. I can't lift it on my own. Will you help me?" Damian rolled his eyes but picked up the box as if it was nothing.
"Meet me in the library," Pixie said. Damian nodded before walking to the office.
Pixie remembered Jason telling her how much she would enjoy the book "Pride and Prejudice." She set down her coat and school bag before scanning the shelves for that book. She found the Jane Austin classic and pulled it from the shelf.
"Why did you come in school with Damian?"
Pixie snapped her book shut. It was much too early in the morning to be dealing with Sophia Clearview.
"Damian gives me a ride almost every morning, and he has been for the last few months."
"I thought I told you to stay away from him. He's mine."
A thought along the lines of, actually he's been my boyfriend for over two week now, passed through Pixie's mind but she ingored it.
"Sophia, look. Damian and I are friends. There is nothing you can say or do that can change that, so could you just leave me alone?"
"You have no right to talk to me like that and you have no right to talk to Damian, he's-"
"She actually has every right to talk to me, Clearview." Damian stated as he glared at Sophia. He turned towards Pixie and his expression softened. Damian moved the book in Pixie's hand so he could read the title. "You will enjoy this book. You share several qualities with Elizabeth Bennet. Todd has said I am like Mr. Darcy, but he ment it as an insult." Damian refused his attention on Sophia and his personality did a 180.
"How dare you tell Pixie she has no right to be around me? Do you think just because your parents have more money than hers that you are somehow better? On the contrary, being born with a sliver spoon in your mouth has made you an insufferable human being. According to my father, your parents are decent. I am still trying to figure out how they got stuck with you," Damian's eyes seemed to glow with disdain,"If you ever insult my girlfriend again, you will pay grave consequences. Understand?"
Sophia looked small and afraid. She backed up a few steps before turning around and running out of the library.
"If she ever bothers you again, let me know."
Pixie nodded and kissed Damian on the cheek. "Thank you, Damian," Pixie turned her head towards the clock on the wall," We should get to homeroom."
Damian and Pixie left the library. As they passed the front windows they saw that the rain had stopped. The sun was almost visable in the sky. Pixie's hope of a beatiful day seemed to be coming true.
