chapter 2
Somewhere I heard the plane ride was going to be three hours. If I could have gone on my phone, it would have made it a cake walk but I knew I wasn't ready for texts and dm's from friends and classmates. It would have made me a wreck. I didn't exactly know how many gifts I had received from people coming and visiting me in the hospital, all that stuff was already sent to California, to my knew home. That stuff is hard for me to say, it sou d's pretty strange, the fact that I'm gonna have a new home, new school, It's crazy.
I tried sleeping, and that worked for about an hour, but all good things have to come to an end plus I'm pretty sure I've had enough sleep to last me a life time, considering how long I was out in the hospital. My aunt got first class tickets so it wasn't as bad as it would've been in regular flights. We got better food and better seats. It was more peaceful.
I was looking around at all the people in first class. They all looked so polished. I wonder if there are any celebrities in here. That would be cool, highlight of the year. How did my aunt even get these tickets. Maybe she's rich. Wait, the celebrities, I have to look for celebrities.
I woke up Jack while I was looking. I felt kinda bad but at the same time, I didn't. This is the type of stuff be lives for. He's pretty obsessed with seeing famous people. Ever since he was ten and he caught a glimpse of snoop on his way to a concert.
"What are you doing?" I heard him say in a tired voice.
"I'm trying to see if there's any celebrities in here." I whispered back
I saw Jack give me a questioning look but then it slowly turned into a smile. I laughed to myself. He is so slow but I knew he would be down.
Soon he started helping me look. I looked in front of me, then behind me. I looked over my right shoulder and saw a boy about my age looking at me. We made eye contact and waited for the other to break it. He raised an eyebrow at me and I returned the gesture. He had such a serious face that I couldn't help myself. I slowly started to smile. If I kept eye contact, I would probably start laughing. I saw him slowly start smiling until he was showing his teeth in his smile. His smile was amazing. He had perfect teeth. I wish I had perfect teeth.
I was still holding eye contact when he broke it. He looked me over and smirked at me. I gave him a questioning look until it occurred to me that he was checking me out. I slowly turned so I was facing in front of me with wide eyes. I felt the blush start to creep onto my face. I didn't like it. He probably saw my blushing, and was probably laughing his ass off.
Jack looked at me and gave me a questioning look.
"What's wrong? Did you find a celebrity?" He said laughing a little.
"No, but I need to ask you a favor." I said looking out the corner of my eye. I couldn't tell if the boy was still looking at me.
"Depends on what it is." He said with a smirk. Why do guys smirk a lot? It doesn't make sense.
"Will you tell me if he's still looking at me." I said in a whisper.
"Who?" He asked in a whisper.
I nudged my head in the boy's direction and Jack looked up. I saw Jack nod his head in the boys direction. He was soon using his hands to talk to the boy. Jack was soon laughing and sitting back in his seat.
"Did you just use sign language to talk to him?" I said turning towards him.
"Yes ma'am, yes I did." He said laughing.
"Well, what did he say?" I asked
"He asked if you knew sign and I told him yeah so he said he wanted to talk to talk to you. He also told me a joke that was pretty fun. Oh yeah, he said you were fire too." He said nudging me
I punched him in the arm, not too hard but hard enough. He was still laughing while he was rubbing his arm. He turned in the direction of the boy again and nodded his head. He turned to me again.
"Talk to him you jerk."
"Give me one good reason." I said back to him.
"You should talk to him because he goes to our new school." He said laughing.
I sighed and turned to the boy and finally got a good look at him. He had brown hair and green eyes. I have to admit, he was hot. He had a good build. I wonder how tall he was. He had his hands up and was about to tell me something in sign language when the pilots voice rang throughout the plane.
"We will be landing soon, please remain seated until we are at a complete stop, thank you for flying with us and have a nice day."
I sunk into my seat and remembered about the boy. I turned in his direction but he wasn't looking at me anymore. He was talking to the person next to him and picking up some of his things. I looked out our plane's window and saw the ground start to get close. It looked like the beach wasn't too far from where we were either.
We soon landed and Jack stood up and got our carry on. Jack, my aunt, and I were one of the first people to get off the plane. Our aunt was pushing us forward. When I looked in front of us, I saw the boy walking ahead of us. There weren't that many people in front of us so my aunt kept pushing us.
"We have to hurry because you need to get acquainted with your new house and dorms."
We were about to pass the boy when he turned his head and looked at me. We held eye contact until we were past him. It hurt my neck to turn and look at him so I just looked where I was walking.
Auntie said our bags had already been sent to our new home and were waiting for us. She also said our limo was waiting for us up front.
We got inside the limousine, can you believe that, the nicest car I ever got in was my car, and I had to pay for it. The door stayed open and we didn't go anywhere. I turned to my aunt.
"I thought we had to go as soon as we got in the car."
"I almost forgot, we have to take one of my students to the school with us. His parents could not accompany him so I said we could take him. That's okay with you, right?"
"Yeah, of course." Jack and I said at the same time. We looked at each other and a fist bump was exchanged.
At the time, it didn't occur to me that the boy we were taking to the school could have been the one on the plane. I didn't realise it was him until the limo door opened and I was caught staring into those same green eyes that I was staring into when we were in the plane.
He sat down next to me. Of course he sat down next to me, he thought I was hot. I thought he was hot too. Oh lord, this is going to be a fun car ride.
"Hi, I'm chance." He said whispering into my ear so only I could hear. It sent a wave of shivers through my body. Just the way he said it. I don't know why or how but the way his voice strung that phrase together, you could tell he was used to keeping girls on their toes
"Hi, I'm faith." I said whispering back hoping my words had the same effect on him. He had that type of bad ass exterior and I was just barely noticing it.
I looked at him and saw him smiling. It was that same dazzling smile I saw on the plane. He probably made girls at the school swoon.
I felt his hands brush across my hand and felt a fresh wave of shivers rush through me. This was going to be interesting.
You know when it's a hot day so you decide to eat an ice cream cone or a popsicle, but then if starts to melt from the heat. That's how I felt with Chances flirting. It was sure something else. Something new, he was new. New was good, it helped me forget things for a little bit.
My aunt was going on about classes at her academy. About all the elective classes were possible and which ones could help you later on. Apparently you could find a lot of ways to get college credits here. That was pretty much the only thing I could tone in on before Chance started back up. I wanna day that I wanted him to go away, that he was a pest. To be completely honest with you though, that was a lie.
All I could do was hope I could make it through the drive.
