Chapter 9

Today was the Fourth of July and Lily was bugging me the entire day, begging me to go to some party that was happening tonight. I happily denied each and every time she asked me to go. Nathan even asked me if I wanted to go out with him today but I also declined that as well. I was just way too lazy to do anything at all.

So I was now currently in my room reading a book Nathan had bought me. I didn't even bother getting ready for the day since I wasn't planning to go anywhere. I had also already made my dad his dinner so now I had nothing else to do but relax. Or so I thought...

I start to hear little presistent tappings against my bedroom window. I ignore it at first but when it kept continuing I closed the book irritated and walked over to my window. Lifting the window up, a rock flies in my room barely missing me as it lands on my bedroom floor. "What the fuck?" Then I hear the whistle.

"Rapunzel let down you're hair!"

"What the hell is wrong with you! There's a door!" I hiss.

"Not a fan of Rapunzel I see." He stays quiet for a moment, tilting his head side to side as if he was debating something. "Got it!" He runs away.

I look around, dumbfounded. I can't believe this is happening right now. A few minutes later he returns with a bouquet of red, white, and blue flowers. He takes out a single red flower then holds it up to me. "But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Annabeth is the sun."

I roll my eyes then glanced back to my bedroom, debating whether or not to put on my earphones and continue reading or play along. Already knowing the answer I leave the window and pick the rock up from the floor and throw it at him. It hits his leg. "Ow!" I smirk.

"Quoting Shakespeare I see. But I do believe that it is, and Juliet is the sun."

"I know but you're my sun, you're the light of my day, the heat and beauty of-"

"Well you shut up! Someone might actually hear you!" I whisper-yell.

"I don't care! You make me mad Annabeth, the moments of my day is thought of you-"

"Stop the mushy shit I'm already going out with you." I roll my eyes. "Fine! I'll just keep quoting Shakespeare then!" He clears his throat. "Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon-"

"I'll drop-kick you if you don't stop!" He smirks.

"She speaks: O, speak again, bright angel! For thou art, as glorious to this night, being o'er my head." He laughs. "Come on I know you want to play along!" I roll my eyes.

"O Nathan, Nathan! Wherefore art thou Nathan? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my... Uh Like-fullness?" I say carefully. He laughs.

"Oh darn I guess I didn't trick you into saying it now did I?" He laughs, snorting in the process.

"What are you a pig?" I laugh, accidentally snorting in the process. I stop, wide eyed.

"Looks like we're both pigs now, aren't we?" He smirks.

"Shut up!" He lefts up his hand and with his finger, lifts up his nose and starts snorting like a pig. "Your an idiot! Do you know that? An idiot!" I laugh. He smiles back at me letting his arm fall back to his side.

"I didn't know you can quote Shakespeare!" He yells. "I could say the same to you!"

"Romeo and Juliet is one of my favorite plays! I learned some of the dialogue when I read it for class. I'm not ashamed to say I rather enjoyed it. Well it was boring in some parts but overall it was actually kind of good. Even if it was tragic in the end. But what is love without disaster?"

"It would still be love." I say. "Just wouldn't be half as good of a story..." I clear my throat. "Come on I'll open the front door for you." I nod my head to the front of my house. He nods. I close my bedroom window and shove my feet into some gray converse I had lying around and leave my room.

One look towards the living room tells me that my dad was still watching tv while eating his dinner in front of it. I debated telling my dad Nathan was here but chose against it since I knew he wouldn't mind.

As soon as I open the front door, flowers are shoved in my face. "These are for you."

"Yeah I can see and smell that." I take the flowers from him. "Thanks. What are you doing here?" He looks at me exasperated.

"I'm here to take you out on a date for the Fourth of July, duh! Why else would I be here?"

"Don't bring her back too late! I know the firework show won't begin till dark so I'm extending her curfew to midnight!" My dad yells from the living room.

"Hello sir! She'll be right back here before then!"

"Dad!" I really don't want to go out.

"I rather you go out instead of being here as usual! I'll be fine! You go run along and have fun! Beca teenager! Just don't do anything stupid and get yourself in trouble! I won't be able to get you out of trouble this time." I roll my eyes. I'm a teenager when don't we do something stupid?

Nathan grabs my hand, "Come on!"

"Wait." I run up stairs to my room put on a gray sweat shirt that had a ying-yang symbol on the front and my black beanie. Not very patriotic of me but who else was going to see me that's going to give me shit about it? I grab my phone from my bed and leave my room, making sure I kiss my picture on my way out.

I run down stairs and grab Nathan's hand and pull him to the front door. "Bye dad!"

"Bye Jack! I'll bring her home before curfew!" I hear my dad chuckle.

"Oh I know you will!" We close the door and run to Nathan's car. I don't know why I'm in a rush I mean just a few seconds ago I didn't even want to go out at all! Nathan turns on the car and we're soon backing out of my driveway.

"Where are we going? There's no way in hell I'm going to a party." I warn him.

"I had a feeling you would say that." He smiles. "Look in the back."

"And I have a feeling I don't need to. Let me guess there's a blanket, a pillow, a picnic basket, hot chocolate, you're laptop with some movies... Is there anything else I'm missing?" I ask already smirking because I know I've already named everything.

"Well shit. Am I that predictable?" He asks smiling. "No!" I immediately object, shaking my head.

Then decide not to lie, "Well actually yes you are. Very much so."

"Ah but you did forget one thing." He smirks.

I look at him curiously. "And what's that?"

"Sparklers! I mean it is Fourth of July!" I roll my eyes. He puts on the radio bumping it up and rolls down the windows. It was pretty hot outside like it usually was on this particular day; people were outside in shorts and tank tops that were red, white, and blue. Being over obnoxiously patriotic all of a sudden.

I mean I'm all up for being patriotic and showing my pride for my country but come on! Does it really have to be one day in a year that people actually decide to show it? Getting all decked out then the very next day forget all about it? I just found it a bit ironic is all. Not to mention that today is supposed to be in celebration for America's independence when it wasn't even officially gained on this day. Yeah that's right. Read about it people!

Sighing I forget about the whole issue at hand and instead focus on the song. Bumping my head along to the beat of it while I stuck my hand out the window in order to feel the wind.

When we had finally made it to the hill that we had our first kiss on, we had already passed by a bunch of people that were on the same hill preparing to get the best seats (which I had no clue why they were even doing so because every spot had a good view).

We had to slow down when we passed them because there was way too many people and they would not get out of the way fast enough.

One look from Nathan and I knew we weren't going to stop here. We kept going until we finally made it to the spot where we first kissed. There wasn't any people up here which I was thankful for because I was not willing to party with anyone or see anyone at all for that matter.

We got off the car and Nathan started preparing everything. Once he was done he looked at me all giddy and showed me the sparklers. "No." He frowns.

"Why not? It'll be fun!" It was already dark and all I wanted to do was lay down, watch Netflix, and wait till the firework show started.

He still lit one up though, despite my protests and smiled. The glow of the sparkler lit up his face making him look younger. He thrust it out at me so abruptly that I had to grasp on to it before it fell on the ground and then he took of running trying to light another one up as he did.

I roll my eyes at his stupidness. I took off running in his direction with the sparkler in my hand. He was still trying to light it but he had slowed down in the process. That was all I needed to go and push him down. He grunted, falling face down onto the grass. But knowing how clumsy I was I ended up falling on the ground next to him. The sparkler lying on the ground next to us with no light.

I quickly get up and take off running in the direction of the car. "Oh no you don't!" Nathan yells. I hear him running behind me, I let out a laugh as I run faster than before and opened the drivers side of the jeep. Jumping in, I lock all the doors feeling happy with myself when I remembered he left the keys inside. He started banging on the window lightly, glaring at me. I smirk showing him the keys to the car.

He smacks his forehead and tries to open the door. I shook my head at him and turned on the car. That was when he started to bang on the window louder.

"Annabeth! Open this door right now!" I turn to him smirking as I found the knob to the radio and bumped up the volume.

"What's that? I can't hear you!" I yell, laughing so hard that I was wheezing. I grab onto the side in order to calm myself but instead I  pressed on the unlock button on accident. Next thing I know the music had disappeared entirely and Nathan appeared glowering down at me. I let out a yelp and climbed to the backseat. He laughs at my weak attempt to escape him as he closes the front door and climbs in the back with me, making sure he locked all the doors after. He then grabs my waist and pulls me down- away from the car door, and straddles me. Pinning my arms down with one hand.

I close my eyes, shivering when I felt his hand caress my cheek, go down my neck, to my shoulders, and down the length of my arms. I open my eyes when I felt his hand touch the bare skin of my lower stomach that was peeking out due to my sweater and shirt ridding up. He stares at me with eyes blacker than night. "It's not very nice to tackle people down." I give a small laugh.

"Well isn't that ironic? You tackle people down in football." I smirk when he rolls his eyes then leans down and kisses my neck (pretty much all girls weak spot... Or is it just me?). I shift under him making a low sound in the back of my throat. Told you it was my weak spot.

"What's the matter? Cat got you're tongue now?" God I hate him. I try moving my arms but his grip was too strong. I feel his hand lift up my sweater and that was all I needed to break my arms free and push him back. "I'm sorry. I just lost control- I shouldn't have ever pushed you into thinking that I would-" his next words die in his throat when I straddle him and take off my sweater from the sudden rush of hotness in the car.

"What's the matter? Cat got you're tongue?" I smirk. I watch his Adam's apple bob up and down and smile to myself glad that I knew I had this sort of effect on him. I shift a bit, a noise comes out from his mouth but I ignore it. My fingers find it's way to his hair, I pull on it gently as I bring my mouth to his ear and whisper, "it's not nice to toy with people."

Then kiss him fully on the mouth. He reacts fast by grabbing onto my waist and pulling me closer to him. I shift again in order to get closer to his mouth when he moans. I pull back, suddenly not wanting to continue longer when there was a huge boom!

We both jump at the sound and look around outside but there was no one in sight. Then there was another boom. Nathan let's out a strangled laugh, "it's the fireworks." We let out relieved laughs.

Avoiding eye contact with him, I get off his lap and unlock the car door and get out. I look up at the firework show and sigh deeply.

I feel Nathan behind me before he hugs me from the back. I turn to him, he pecks my lips softly. I turn back around look up at the sky and together we watch the fireworks in silence until the grande finale, and when there was no light in the sky. I look down and see leftover sparklers we didn't use and pick two up, I turn back to Nathan. "Let's light these up." He smiles at me.

Taking out a lighter and turning them on, I smile and run away from him trying to create waves of light in the darkness. I stop when I don't feel him by me, I turn around and see him sitting at the hood of his car, watching me. I look down and let go of the sparklers once the light had gone out and walk to him. He gets off and lights his up and starts to create something  fast in the air. It was a heart.

I watch as it disappeared and then reappeared and then disappear again until the light was gone and he was smiling weakly at me with his hands in his pockets. I filled up the space left between us and kissed him. And I knew just then that I was in some serious trouble.

________________________________End of Chapter 9

Hey guys happy late, late, late, valentines and gal-entines day! (Shout out to all my parks and recreation fans)!

Sorry if I gave the sparklers a bad description because I never actually used one before so I have no clue if I did it justice.

But I like to dedicate this chapter to my best friend- SleepWalkinq ! You're welcome, I wrote you a extra cheesy/ steamy chapter like you requested. I'm sort of the best...

Anyways do you think Nathan and Annabeth are moving too fast? Or not fast enough?

Well until next time! Bye!

PS: about that whole Fourth of July thing I didn't even know that part was true until I went to college and my professor was talking about it to us! I then went home and did a bit of research on it! Turns out John Adams predicted that July second would be the day America would celebrate its independence but the Declaration of Independence wasn't officially signed off until August! Look it up! You'll totally seem super smart when you bring it up in front of your family and friends.

Oh and I finally got to try sparklers on New Years of 2016! It was a fun experience since we had done a bit of a mini photoshoot with it! But I still feel like I didn't give the sparklers much justice!
