I gave my laptop to my dad to see if he could hack it, figuratively I mean, the problem with Audacity. It's not a problem with the new mic or it would have been a problem with the old mic. It's my computer doing this bullshit, or, at least the program that is Audacity.

Well, he couldn't hack it. He's generally pretty smart but he doesn't have much experience with Audacity at all. Really, I'm pretty sure the problem is with Windows itself, as it does this weird rapid toggle back and forth between the microphone and the speakers?

It does the same thing with my headphones from time to time. So, I took a crack at it again. Went into other troubleshooters and it seemed to kind of get my microphone to work because any time I have this issue with my headphones, I do something like that and or enable them from the control panel and it gets them working.

He did have a point about me perhaps needing to reinstall Windows. I may just do that.

My mother then piped in, asking if that would mess up her, meaning my, business. My God she is so technologically illiterate. Please God don't let me ever end up like this poor woman. See what I mean about how unattractive it is to dig your heels in and never learn anything new?

Because that's where it gets you. You end up thinking that changes to software end up somehow erasing or affecting data stored in the cloud. You end up genuinely believing Tucker Carlson when he said he was possessed by Satan.

That man is insane. But enough people like I described believe his bullshit.

Anyway, I don't want to talk about that. I don't think I quite resolved my issue. Thank God my dad didn't open Chrome to try to find solutions to have his eyes immediately exposed to saved tab after tab of gay porn.

Needless to say I need to clean up a bit.

He did point out that my laptop is pretty slow. Although, I've had this laptop for about five years now and it rarely fails me, so I can't really complain.

So, I got rid of all the porn off my computer. I had a lot of muffin recipes saved too but whatever, dumped those because I can just look up recipes when I want them. Anyway, having done all that my computer is now fast as a racehorse!

It works about as fast as it was when it was a babe. Pretty impressive. But the problem with my microphone persists. The same shit happens with my headphones repeatedly. It is pissing me off.

I freaking fixed the problem. Well, multiple problems. Multiple problems that involved basically cleaning a bunch of crap off my computer, disabling conflicting software and fixing the waveform in Audacity so it looks and sounds right.

I am a genius. I told my boyfriend I feel like the smartest man in the world, and that I need a wheel barrel to carry this fat fucking brain.

It's so rewarding to learn new things. I am so back.
