Chapter 24

~Ash's POV~

"Pika!" Pikachu squealed. I watched the yellow mouse pokemon as he ate his ketchup flavoured food.

Everyone was munching down, enjoying the food Clemont had cooked. After everything that had happened, having a big feast with everyone was the best way to end the day.

"Oh yeah!" Gary exclaimed, shoving a forkful of spaghetti into his mouth. "This is the best!"

I sweat dropped as he ate his food like an animal. "Make sure to leave some for us." I said, taking a scoop of spaghetti onto my plate.

"Well you better move fast, cause I ain't gonna stop eating!"

"Don't worry guys," Clemont chuckled. "There's plenty where that came from." He pointed to the stove, in which had another pot full of spaghetti.

My eyes lit up. "Awesome!"

"I just realized guys," Drew said, causing everyone to look up at him. "Our last day in Kanto is tomorrow, and we haven't really been doing anything throughout this past week."

"That's true..." Iris rubbed her chin. "All the big stuff we have pretty much done was go to Pallet Town and fishing."

"So any ideas on what to do tomorrow then?" Serena asked.

Bonnie's face lit up with an idea. "Oh, we should give Clemont's invention a second try!"

"Huh?" Clemont looked over towards his little sister. "What invention?"

She leaned back in her chair. "The matchmaker 2000, of course!"

I chocked on my spaghetti after hearing her say that. I hit my throat a few times, before swallowing the food. "What?!"

"Oh no, not that thing again..." Clemont sighed.

"I actually think it's not such a bad idea." Miette crossed her arms. "It would be nice to find everybody's matches, right, Ash?" She glanced over at me, before giving a smug grin.

My cheeks instantly flushed red. Everybody looked over at me, knowing my huge crush on Serena. "W-what? I-I don't know..."

Dawn clasped her hands together. "That's a great idea! I mean, who wouldn't want to know their one true love?" She gave me a smile, following on what Miette had started.

Gary nodded in agreement. "I believe so too, it would be fun to see Ashy die of embarrassment."

"N-no!" I waved my hands in front of myself as my cheeks turned crimson red.

"Why are you guys only teasing Ash?" Serena asked. "You do realize that you guys will also get matches as well, right?"

"And that includes you too, Serena." Miette winked.

"Eh?!" Her cheeks lit pink, before turning away from everyone and pouting.

The smile on Dawn's face soon faded. "Oh... on second thought, it might not be such a good idea, ehehe..." She scratched the back of her head.

"Yeah... you're right." May sweat dropped.

Miette frowned. "Party poopers."

Bonnie crossed her arms. "You guys are no fun.

Clemont sighed, relieved that his sister wasn't going to go through with the invention. He could only imagine how things would've turned out for him if it were to happen, and it wasn't going to be great.

"Well, now that I think of it, it was pretty much Calem's fault as to why we weren't really able to do anything here in Kanto." Kenny said. "If he didn't come, we wouldn't have had all the problems we faced this week, and we would've had more fun."

"Agghhh!!!" Bonnie cried, causing everyone to look in her direction. "Can we stop talking about this? I want to do something fun!" She placed her hands on her hips.

Dawn sweat dropped. "O-okay, what do you want to do then?"

"I still really want to make that device." She replied. "Big brother," she said, pointing over to him. "Go make that device now!"

"Bonnie you're the best!" Miette clasped her hands together.

Clemont lurched back in his seat. "W-what?!"

"H-hey! I thought we already talked about this and said we weren't going to go through with it!" I said.

"Big brother, if you don't make that device, I'm going to tell daddy that you have a girlfriend!" Bonnie said. Clemont's face turned red, as sweat began to drip from his forehead. "And after I tell him," she continued, "I'm sure dad would love to meet her, hehe."

Clemont gulped. He knew nothing could be worse than his dad's teasing. Not even Bonnie's teasing could be compared to his dad's, it was just insanely embarrassing.

Knowing that he did not want that to happen, he got up from his seat and ran out the room. "I'll make that device!" He cried. "Just don't tell him anything!" He then disappeared into the hall.

"Clemont you idiot!" I shouted.

"Get back here! Don't you dare make that device!" Misty yelled.

Bonnie crossed her arms and gave everybody a smug grin. "This is going to be fun."

Everybody in the room had similar expressions on their faces. They were all surprised, and some of them were even blushing already, just thinking about the device. Especially me, my face was beat red. I did not want this to happen, mostly because I wanted to be the one to tell Serena myself, and not some stupid device.

"Woah! Ashy's blushing!" Gary shouted through the room.

Hearing that only caused me to blush even more. "A-am not!"

"Mhm, no matter how many times you deny it, you're face is telling us a different story." Miette smirked.

Gary brought his hands up to his face and chanted. "Ashy and Sere-"

Before he could finish, Dawn whacked the back of his head with her palm. "BAKA!!!"

Gary cried in pain, holding the spot Dawn hit. Usually, it was Paul who would do that, but this time it was her, and it hurt way more.

I looked over at Serena using the corner of my eye, only to see her already looking at me. She was about to walk over and say something, until Miette approached her and started nudging her with her elbow.

Well, goodbye, world. It's about time I throw a bus at myself. Please bury me far away from these idiots.

"Ha! I win again!" Barry cheered, placing his cards onto the table in front of him.

"Not again..." Kenny sighed, giving up, after losing the game for the third time in a row.

Hours later after all that commotion, we all ended up calming down and forgetting about what happened. Although I've been teased like crazy back then, I kind of gotten better because thankfully, Serena still doesn't know how I feel about her. Or, at least, I hope. Let's just keep our fingers crossed she didn't hear Gary almost say her name.

"Guys, are we just gonna sit here and do nothing for the remainder of the day?" Iris said. "You do realize we are leaving Kanto tomorrow, right?"

"Eh, it's almost the evening, there will be no point." Drew shrugged. "Plus, Clemont isn't even back yet, and we can't just go out without him."

Iris pouted in return. "Wasting our last day here goofing off. That's no fun."

"Awh, cheer up," Serena said. "We can always come back some other time if we really wanted. Or we can even go visit a different region."

She sighed in reply. "Guess so."

A few minutes have passed, with everybody having their own small conversations with the ones around them. Kenny and Barry decided to start another game, so I just sat back and watched. As Kenny placed a card on the table, making his move, Clemont barged though the doors.

"I'm back!" He closed the door behind him, after pulling in a device. Everybody's jaw dropped, knowing what that device was. Clemont fixed his glasses as a smirk formed on his face. "The future is now, thanks to science! Introducing, the newly made, upgraded, Matchmaker 2000!!!"

Paul leaned over and whispered, "Is he really going to go through with this? I thought he was the one most terrified about this device."

"I think he's only doing it so Bonnie doesn't embarrass him in front of his dad. " I sweat dropped.

"Wait," Gary rubbed his chin. "Does Clemont actually have a girlfriend?"

"No, of course not!"

Bonnie jumped out of her seat, glad that her brother finished the device faster than she expected. "Yay, big brother you are the coolest!"

"Amazing!" Miette added.

"A-are you sure this thing won't explode this time?" Serena asked.

May nodded. "She's right! M-maybe we should not do this, so it doesn't end up blowing the cottage along with it..." She said, trying to find a way to stop him from using the device.

Clemont adjusted his glasses once again, before explaining. "You see, I tested this device in advance, and as you can see, it is here, perfectly fine! I guarantee you it won't explode!"

"Great...." May groaned.

No good, no good. I could already feel my face heating up once again, yet the device hasn't even started doing its thing.

"Now then," Clemont pushed a small button on the device. The device started making noises as the screen flashed. Then, Dawn's face appeared on the screen.

Dawn's eyes widened at the sight of her face in front of her. "W-why am I there???"

"Hehehe... The device has chosen to find Dawn's match!" Clemont replied.

"Wha?!?!? Why am I the one who goes first?!?" She cried as she watched the device circle around the room.

It went around, scanning each person. It soon stopped in front of Paul, as his face appeared on the screen. He stared at the screen and said, "So it's me..?"

The device then moved towards Kenny, and stopped in front of him. It was going back and forth between the two boys, changing the picture on the screen each time.

"What's going on?" Kenny asked as he watched the device.

"Hmm," Clemont rubbed his chin. "It appears it finds both Paul and Kenny as Dawn's ideal match, and couldn't choose between the two of them."

"WHAAA???" Kenny's face lit pink.

"Aarghhhh!" Dawn cupped her cheeks using her hands, covering the heavy blush as it started to form.

Serena placed her hand on her best friend's shoulder before letting out a small giggle.

The device backed away from the two of them, and once again began beeping. The screen flashed, before showing the next person. My heart stopped once I saw the screen. There it was, a picture of Serena.

Gary rubbed his hands together. "This is gonna be good."

Serena was caught off guard once she saw it was her turn. Knowing that she was about to find her match, her face had already started to turn pink.

But on my side, I already knew that the answer was going to be. The device began going around the room, looking for the one. I sat down in my spot, bright red, sweating like crazy. It was going to stop in front of me, I just knew it.

I looked around the room, only to find the creepy faces my friends were making. Gary had a evil grin on his face, waiting. Misty was already angry, giving me one of her famous death glares, while Miette was holding a camera, ready to take a picture.

I kept my fingers crossed behind my back. Please explode, please explode. Oh dear arceus, please make this horrible device explode.

Of course, arceus didn't grant my wish. Before I knew it, the device had stopped in front of me.

There it was. My face on the screen of the device, clear enough for everyone to see. Silent laughs and giggles can be heard across the room. I stared at the screen, heart pounding through my chest. I slowly brought my face up, revealing my already reddened face. I looked up at Serena, only to find an expression I wasn't expecting.

She was even more nervous than I was. Once I made eye contact with her, she quickly turned away all flustered, before lightly clasping her cheeks, trying to get herself together. I kept looking at her, but all she did was avoid me.

"Can you guys see the looks on your faces?!" Gary blurted out. "This was the best by far, you both look like Magikarps!" He laughed.

"H-huh?!" She blushed even harder.

Dawn laughed nervously as she comforted Serena by rubbing her back, while Miette and Bonnie laughed alongside Gary.

Usually I would've acted the same as Serena after what Gary had said. Instead, I ignored him and glanced over at her once again. I could tell she was looking at me through the corner of her eye. Could it be, does she feel the same I do towards her?

Clemont cleared his throat. "Alright, next match."

The next face to show up was Misty. Of course, being her normal, usual self, she threw a fit. "NO!" She shouted. "I don't want to do this!"

"W-well," Clemont gulped, backing up from his spot. "Y-you have to, since everyone else is..."

"STOP THIS THING NOW OR ELSE!!" She glared, scaring Clemont half to death.

May sighed. "Just calm down and get it done with." She said, taking Misty's arm and dragging her back to her seat.

The device moved around the room, circling Gary before stopping in front of him. There it was, the matchup of Gary and Misty.

A small laugh escaped my mouth as the two exchanged disgusted looks at each other. Thinking it was a good idea, I decided to get back at Gary for earlier. "Misty and Gary siting in a tree," I chanted. "K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"

Everyone one in the room laughed along with the joke, as I slowly began to realize I made the biggest mistake of my life.

"YOU ASSHOLE!!!" Misty yelled, surprisingly blushing a little, grabbed the chair beside her and threw it in my direction. "DIE!"

I dived out of the way, knocking down the table stand in the process. I fearfully looked up as my cap fell off my head. Misty had a dark aura emanating around her, and was struggling to get to me, only to be stopped by Paul's tight grip.

"Let me go!" She said.

"Not a chance, we're not risking any deaths today." He replied.

Finally getting her to calm down with the help of Iris, Clemont sighed, relieved that he no longer had to worry about her anymore. "Okay then," he said. "Next."

This time, it was Drew's turn. The device waltzed across the room, finding itself in front of May. He looked over at her, with no expression whatsoever.

"I-it's me...?" She chirped.

"Eh," Drew shrugged. "I'm not surprised. I wouldn't blame ya, who wouldn't want this hot stuff anyways?" He winked.

She sweat dropped. "Y-yeah, whatever."

We spent the rest of the night with this stupid device. The rest of the group turned out to have no compatible matches, and I was envious of them, since they didn't have to go through what the rest of us did.

After all the ruckus, Bonnie praised Clemont for making the device, and agreed to keep her mouth shut about telling their dad about his girlfriend, when really he didn't even have one from the start.

Let me just say this, that girl is pure evil. I wouldn't be surprised if she was the spawn of the devil.

Anyways, I was just glad that this was finally all over. I'd say it was not the best way to end our trip to Kanto, but at least we did get some good laughs out of it.

I pulled the door to my room open. It was already late at night, everybody had already separated back to their rooms. I stepped inside, finding Serena packing up her suitcase.

"Already getting ready to go?" I said as I closed the door behind me.

"Yeah," she nodded, "I don't want to leave this packing for the last minute. Don't want to repeat what happened on our first day to Kanto."

I thought back to the day we were running through the airport and almost missed our flight. "R-right." I sweat dropped.

Following her, I took out my suitcase and began packing my things. I wasn't too good with keeping my stuff organized, so I just threw all this things I came across into the suitcase.

"H-hey, Ash..." Serena said.

"What is it?" I replied as I sat on my suitcase, making an attempt to close it.

She finished packing up and got up before continuing. "You know earlier this week... when you said you l-liked me..."

I fell off my suitcase after hearing her, causing it to flop back open. I got up, face already turning red. "W-what?! Um w-what do you mean? I-I mean," I scratched my cheek. "Y-yeah... I remember..."

"Why did you run away after that?"

"O-oh you mean that???" I said, thinking of an excuse. "Well you know how impatient Gary can be, ahaha..." I said, "So y-you know, I had to hurry up before he loses all his patience and comes after me!" I put a finger up. "Y-yeah! That's what happened."

She gave me a disapproving look, but instead just let out a sigh. "Right." She fiddled around with her fingers and looked up at me again. "So that means," she said as blush appeared on her cheeks. "The results of Clemont's device wasn't true...?"

I was thrown off as my face started to emit smoke. "C-Clemont's device?! Yeah, of course it wasn't true! It was probably just malfunctioned or something, haha..." I let out a nervous chuckle.

"O-oh," She replied. "Okay then..."

I looked at her in confusion, wondering why she was asking all these sudden questions. Not to mention I had to lie and give her false answers to each one.

My face cooled off as I saw the expression on her face. "Huh? Why do you look so down?"

"W-what?" She jumped. "Oh, nothing, don't worry about it!" She waved her hands in front of her.

I shrugged. "O-okay, whatever you say."

"Anyways," she moved towards the bed. "We should get some sleep, we have an early flight tomorrow."

"Right..." I replied, watching her as she turned out the lights, wondering what was up with her sudden mood change.

I got comfortable in my spot on the floor, before seeing my suitcase, which was still wide open. Already feeling my eyelids get heavy, I decided to finish packing tomorrow and call it a night.

Ayeeeee, I have a special chapter for tomorrow, so stay tuned for that ;)
