Chapter 14

~Ash's POV~

"I'm going to dump Calem."

After hearing that, I could feel myself wanting to jump for joy. She said it. She was going to dump Calem. It was about time. As much as I wanted to cry tears of joy, it was best not to. The news may have been great for me, but on Serena's side, it was the worst thing a girl could ever experience.

"Are you sure you're going to be okay?" I asked, still concerned about her.

"Yeah, I am sure." She gave me a reassuring smile.

I frowned. It was easy to tell behind that smile that she was still hurt. Deep down she still felt heartbroken.

I sighed. "Alright. But if you need anything, I'm always here."

"Okay.."

I nodded. I faced the door and pushed it open. I really wanted to stay with her, since I knew she was not okay. But there was really nothing else I could do, so I guess I should just leave.

"Wait, Ash?" Serena suddenly grabbed onto my wrist.

"Huh?" I turned my head to face her. "I-is something wrong?"

"I just wanted to say... thank you. For being here when I needed it the most."

My cheeks turned a subtle shade of red. I scartched the back of my head as I tried to keep myself from getting noticed. "Y-you're welcome. Y-you can always call me if you need anything."

"I will." She smiled one more time. I returned the smile as I left her room and closed the door behind me.

I leaned on the wall as I wiped the sweat off my forehead. I swear, I only sweated this much while I was with her. I never did with other people. It was always with Serena, every single damn time. I dashed down the stairs, almost tripping halfway there. I knew it was cooler in the living room, so it would help get rid of this sweat.

"Ash!" Iris got up from the couch after hearing me run down. "How did it go?"

"Uh, well... she was better than expected her to be. She was still pretty sad, but I think I was able to cheer her up a little. Better than nothing, right?"

"I guess so." Dawn replied. "But I still feel really worried about her."

I sat down and leaned my head back. "Well, she said she was going to dump Calem, so that's something to be proud of."

"She better! Once I get my hands on that jerk, he's not going to live to see the next day!" Misty put her fist up. "I will hit him in places that shouldn't even be hit!"

I shuddered. For some reason, I felt bad for Calem. No one wanted to get into some trouble with Misty, and he was about to. He was going to have a slow, painful death.

"Wouldn't that be a little too much, Misty?" May sweat dropped.

"Of course not! In fact, a boy like him deserves much more than what I just said!" She replied.

"Mhm." I nodded in understandment, agreeing with Misty.

May sighed. "Sometimes, I worry about you."

"Tell me about it." Dawn sweat dropped.

It was the next day. After what happened between Serena and I yesterday, she had slowly gotten back to her normal self. She wasn't entirely over Calem yet, but she was making progress. She was no longer in her room, and was now hanging out with us again. Right now, Gary's entire dorm was over at our place. Also, Miette was here. We invited her over, because why not?

"Oooh, I got a good one!" Gary looked up from his phone. "What does a ghost wear when it rains?"

"What?" May said.

"Rain booooooooooooots!"

He then burst into laughter at his own joke. We all simply stared at him as he died of laughter. The only funny thing about this was how he was the only one laughing.

"Ahem." I cleared my throat. "You done there?"

He slapped his leg and repeated his joke again. "You get it, rain boooooooooots!" He then burst into laughter again.

Serena sweat dropped. "Does he realize no one else is laughing...?"

"I honestly don't know." Misty facepalmed, before turning to Miette. "I'm really sorry about him, he can be a little weird."

"I can tell..." Miette sweat dropped along with Serena.

Gary laughed for another two minutes. I could say it was one of the most longest two minutes of my life. His laugh was really starting to get annoying. I'd rather have Misty beat me up rather than listening to it.

"Okay, that's enough." Paul thumped Gary on the head, stopping him.

"Ow! What the hell, man." Gary glared as he rubbed his head. "Not cool!"

Paul sighed. "You were the only one laughing."

"But the joke was funny!"

"It really wasn't." Drew said.

Gary crossed his arms. "You guys have no sense of humor." He pouted.

Or maybe the joke just wasn't funny at all. I should be used to Gary being like this, since I have known him since we were kids. But nope, it still annoyed the crap out of me. But I guess that's what was unique about him. He could be stupid at times, but he still was a great friend.

"So, guys. Change in topic. Did you enter your names into the ballot for the contest?" Dawn asked.

"The one for the trip to Kanto?" Kenny said.

Dawn nodded. "We have to get our names in by the end of the week if we want to enter."

"Oh, the contest. Yes, we did enter." Clemont replied.

"Awesome!" I jumped. "Now we got a bigger chance of winning!"

"Wait, say we do win. Us guys are coming too, right?" Drew said.

Iris nodded. "Of course! You guys did help us win, afterall."

"Great! Now we just have to keep our fingers crossed that we do win, then we get to go to Kanto! So cool!" Barry exclaimed.

After that, Gary went back to his lame jokes. He told us a few more, and they were the same as the first one. Not funny at all. I don't know how he found these jokes funny, because none of us did, but him. Out of all the jokes he told us, we all only laughed once. Well, not because of the joke, but because Gary fell out of his chair while laughing. Now that was funny.

Aside from the jokes, we were having a pretty good time. Even Serena and Miette were laughing along with us. Looked like it was helping them get over Calem. But I noticed one thing. Serena kept looking down at her phone and texting someone most of the time. I mean, we were hanging out together, so she should be talking with us, and not texting.

I caught her looking down as she texted the person again. I decided to ask her out of curiosity. "Hey, Serena. Who are you messaging?"

"Huh? Oh um, i-it's"

"It's Calem." Miette finished for her.

Dawn cringed at the sound of his name. "Ugh, why him?"

"Serena and I talked earlier today, and we are planning on inviting Calem over here so we could dump him together." Miette said.

Serena held her phone up. "That's what i've been doing, I have been texting him asking him to come over."

That was when a knock was heard on the door. We all figured who that person may be, it was quite obvious.

"Speak of the devil." Misty said.

Miette and Serena nodded towards eachother and made their way to the door. The rest of us followed them, because who wouldn't want to see the break up? I knew I wanted to. I was pretty sure everybody else here did too.

Serena opened the door. Standing there was Calem. Just seeing his face made me rage with anger.

"Serena, hey!" He smiled. But his smile soon faded away after seeing Miette standing behind her. "M-miette..."

"Hello, Calem."

"Uh, w-what are you doing here...?" He gulped.

Miette crossed her arms. "Here to get things settled, what do you think?"

Miette seemed angry, the look on her face told me she already hated Calem's guts. But then there was Serena, who was just standing there, keeping her head down. Unlike Miette, she wasn't confronting Calem or anything. She looked upset, like she didn't want to be there.

"Calem... why? Why did you do it?" Serena looked up at him.

"I-it's not what it looks like, I swear! I don't even know this girl!" Calem stuttered.

"Oh, is that so?" Miette tilted her head. "Tell that to my face, you filthy player! I can't believe you!"

"Calem... why did you cheat on me?" Serena's voice cracked as she spoke. "I loved you, and I thought you loved me back... was there something I did wrong?"

"N-no!" Calem waved his hands in front of him. "It was all a misunderstanding! I can explain! Serena, I don't know this girl!"

From the corner we were eavesdropping from, Misty couldn't contain herself and stomped over to Calem.

"Misty, wait!" I called, but was unable to stop her.

She grabbed Calem by the collar. "You jerk! Stop lying! You know Miette very well, you two are dating, dammit! So shut your face! Dawn, get my broom ready!"

Dawn sweat dropped. "Uhh, o-okay...?"

"Let go of me!" Calem pushed Misty's hand away. "This is none of your business!"

"Misty, stop. It's okay, Serena and I will talk to him." Miette said. "Anyways, Calem. Please explain why you are cheating."

Calem gritted his teeth. "Okay fine. So what, I cheated. Everybody makes mistakes."

"Oh, so now you admit you cheated. It's about time!" Miette said.

"Fine. Let's just start over. I'll pick one of you and just go with that, okay?"

Miette gave him the 'are you kidding look' before facepalming. "Do you think we would still date you after what you've done?"

It seemed Serena was letting Miette do all the talking. Looked like she was too hurt to talk to Calem again.

"That's what you think! But Serena will!" He roughly grabbed hold of her arms. "Tell me you still love me, Serena! I know you do!"

"O-ow... Calem stop, you're hurting me!" She cried.

"Calem, stop!" Misty shouted.

His grip on Serena tightened even more, causing her to wince. "You will still date me, right?!"

I dashed from where we were hiding, nearly knocking Gary over in the process. I pulled Calem's hands off Serena and pinned him against the wall. "Keep your dirty hands off her, you hear me?!"

"Erg, what about you? Why don't you keep your hands of me, huh?!" He said as he attempted to set himself free. "Serena knows it was all a mistake! She still loves me, I know it!"

I pressed my arm against his chest even harder, keeping him in place. "I will never let you near her again. You were the cause of the tears she shed last night. You were the cause of all her pain. I will never forgive you for what you've done!" I pushed him towards the door. "Now go. You don't deserve any of these girls."

He looked over to Miette and tried to apoligize. "Miette, I'm sorry!"

All Miette did was avoid eye contact with him, and ignored every word he said.

He then turned to Serena, giving up on Miette. "C'mon Serena, you can't just do this to me."

"Calem, just leave..."

"Serena please..."

Serena looked to the floor. "No, just stop, Calem... we're done."

He looked at both girls in disbelief. He clenched his fists. "Fine! I never really liked the both of you anyways! I don't care if you break up with me, I can find a new girl!" He then stormed off, leaving the dorm.

"Like any girl would date you after that photo went viral." Miette mumbled.

"Yeah, you better leave!" Misty shouted. "And don't come back, you asshole!"

Miette sighed of relief. "Thank arceus that's over. You don't know how much I wanted to break up with him."

It was true, everything was over. Miette and Serena have broken up with Calem. Miette seemed quite glad she and Calem were done. Serena on the other hand was looking out the window, watching Calem leave.

"Hey, Serena." I said as I approached her. "Are you going to be okay?"

She took a deep breath. "Yeah, I will be."

"Are you sure?"

"Well, I know I should be feeling sad right now, but I just can't feel the tears coming anymore. I can't find it in me to feel sad about the person who cheated on me. I guess that's a good thing."

"So you are over him now?"

She shrugged. "I'm not quite sure, but I am getting there."

"Ah, that's good."

"And also, thanks for defending me from him earlier. It was really brave of you." She smiled.

My cheeks flushed red. "Uh, y-yeah. Your welcome, hehe." I nervously returned the smile as I scratched the bottom of my nose.

"Now let's celebrate!" Gary cheered as he placed his arm around me.

"Celebrate for what?"

"For Serena and Miette finally being single, because now new guys have a chance with them!"

Serena giggled. "Whatever you say, Gary."

Miette sweat dropped. "We just got out of a relationship, it's a litte too early for that."

Things were finally starting to go back to how it used to be. Serena was now acting like her normal self again, and I was glad for that.

Well... not everything was normal. Little did I know, something was about to change.

One week later...

"Yay, I won!" Serena jumped.

"Aw, come on! I lost again!" May pouted.

I watched as the girls played video games. It was fun to watch them play. Serena would always win when she played against May or Dawn. But when she faced Misty and Iris, she stood no chance.

Ever since that day Serena broke up with Calem, she had slowly gotten over him. Now, she had completely kicked him out of her life. The way she was acting now felt like that day didn't even happen. Also, Miette and the girls have gotten really close to eachother over the past week. She'd always visit, and it looked like they all had become best friends now.

"Hey guys!" A voice said.

We all looked up to see Miette standing at the door to the living room. I noticed there were two suitcases next to her.

"Miette? What are you doing here?" Serena asked. "And who let you in?"

"The dorm mother let me in!" She replied.

"And why, exactly?" Dawn said, still confused as to why she was here.

"Wait, you have suitcases. Are you..." Everybody's jaw dropped once we realized what was happening.

"That's right! Starting today, I will be living at Lumiose Hills!"
