“Jordan… … …JORDAN… …IT’S TIME TO WAKE UP!” I woke up to my mom screaming. Which is weird because I was living with my grandma at the moment as it was the weekend, so why would she be here? I sit up and see my mom looking at me with some clothes in hand, but the strange thing is that she looks like she is from an anime and that leaves me confused.

“It's time to get up, Jordan. Isn’t this your important day, don't you remember?” She says smiling.

“What's today again,” I say, confused as to what she means.

“Today's the day you start your Pokémon journey, remember. I keep forgetting that you take forever to wake up mentally,” she says with a laugh. Ok, hold up, rewind that, “Pokémon journey”, is she for real?

I was about to ask if she was ok when I look around my room and I see Pokémon posters, plushies, and figures everywhere. Normally, I have anime posters everywhere along with figures along with a few Pokémon plushies, but now it's just exclusively Pokémon.

I decide to see how this goes, I get dressed into a gray short sleeve shirt. I get to the bathroom and I notice my appearance. Holy shit I look just like Hilda, the female protagonist of the Black and White games. The readied clothes were also the same as in the games. They look mostly fine but I am so changing these pants they are way too short. Looking through some other pairs I find some that go to my knees thankfully.

I get down, and I want to scream because a Stoutland just is chilling on the floor as it was too big for the couch along with my dad who was lying. “Well, Jordan, good luck on your journey. If you need me just call and I will be ready to battle by your side.” The Stoutland says after walking up to me. I want to look at my parents to see if they hear this, but they don't seem to notice. 

Ok, so this isn't some kind of dream as I can feel the fur as I pet the Stoutland, and as I pet it, it appears I'm able to understand Pokémon like N. Oh boy, great.

“My baby girl is growing up so fast.” my dad says with a smile as he hugs me.

“Thanks, daddy, but I need to go before all the Pokémon are gone!” I say once he lets me go. My mom walks over with a backpack and some potions and some healing items that she puts into the backpack.

“I packed the essentials well, call us when you get to Accumula Town.” She says. I smile up at her.

“I will, mom don't worry gotta go later guys, love you,” I say as I run out.

“Love you Jordan, have fun!”

“Be safe!” they say as they wave. I run down a single path and I can see the professor’s lab.

I get to the lab and wow Trip from the anime was there taking pictures as per usual. I thought this would follow the games but it appears it isn't unless for some reason Trip is in the games this time. "Sup, Trip you ready to get your pokemon?" I ask as I approach him. "Of course, I have been ready for a long time. Do you know which one you want though?" He asks curiously. Well I know he gets Snivy they will evolve into a powerful Serp and Ash gets Oshawott so that automatically leaves me with Tepig. Don't get me wrong I like Emboar, I just prefer Samurott over Emboar. Though I can mess with the plot and pick Oshawott as Ash will get a Palpitoad in later decisions, decisions. "Not too sure yet it depends on what you will choose we might want the same one," I say smiling.

We wait in the I think it's a waiting room and we didn't have to wait long as professor Juniper and Ash come out. "Hello there Trip and Jordan welcome" She greets us with a smile as she walks up to us. "Hello professor Juniper, I'm finally ready to begin my journey as a Pokémon trainer" Trip says respectfully. "Yep so am I!" I say smiling and I never realized how tall the professor is but then again it might just be me. "I know you two have waited a long time for this day. Welcome to the world of pokemon" She smiles at us.

"So I bet you guys were so excited that you didn't sleep a wink, I was the exact same way," Ash says, evidently remembering how his journey started.

"Who are you?" Trip asks in that familiar tone of his.

"Trip, Jordan, this is Ash he came all the way from Pallet Town in the Kanto region.." she introduces Ash.

"Nice to meet you guys!" Ash says smiling.

Trip holds a confused expression. "Pallet Town? Kanto Region? Heh." He laughs with a smirk.

"Oh great here we go" I mumble to myself. "What's so funny?" Ash asks confused.

"See, I was just thinking. A guy like you came from the boonies!" Trip says smirking.

"Trip can you please not do this now..." I sigh putting a hand to my face. He just ignores me.

"Hey, what do you mean 'boonies'?" Ash angrily asks.

"Come on today's your first day as a trainer, so it's a happy day. Right?" The professor interjects.

Professor Juniper walks over to the tray that the assistant pushed on it were three pokéballs. "Now you two can choose your partner from any of these three types. The first is Tepig. A Fire-Type." she picks up Tepig's pokéball and releases the Fire Pig Pokémon.

"Hi, there!" the Tepig squeaks. Ash leans down to get a better look "Wow so you're a Tepig?" Ash says curiously. The little fire pig walks over and spits out some embers. "Yep, that's a Fire-Type. Nice and firey." Ash confirms to himself.

"Up next here's Oshawott, a Water-Type". Juniper says releasing the small otter.

"Hi!" says the Oshawott with its sparkling eyes. "Wow this little guy is very cute," I say smiling.

"Uhm, thank you?" Oshawott says, evidently embarrassed. "And finally Snivy a Grass-Type," Juniper says releasing the Grass Snake who ends up near the window.

"Greetings." the Pokémon courts.

"Cool! This one's got plenty of confidence," Ash says. It's painfully obvious that he likes how Snivy looks. I don't blame him, Snivy does look cool.

The three starters line up looking up at us expectantly. "Each one looks great to train so it's going to be one tough choice," Ash says despite the fact that he isn't going to get a starter. Well not now anyways.

"Don't forget we're the ones who get to choose" Trip says. "Don't worry I know that I just get a bit excited seeing new Pokémon, if it was up to me it would be a tough choice," Ash says embarrassed rubbing the back of his head.

I then offer my input, "Why don't you go first, Trip? You did get here earliest." I say suggest. Trip nods. He observes the three young Pokémon, probably thinking which would be best against Alder. He takes out his camera and takes yet another picture. I have a feeling I'm going to hate that camera.

"I've decided I'm choosing Snivy," Trip says with a slight smirk. Snivy shares the smirk at being chosen while the other two don't look happy. Oshawott doesn't look as dejected as he has another chance. I couldn't understand why Tepig didn't have the same outlook.

"What about you Jordan who will you choose?" Ash asks me. I look at the two remaining starters. I mean Emboar would be good, but I kinda want to have Ash's Tepig. He can have a Darumaka I mean he didn't even fully evolve Pignite he fully evolved all of his other fire starters except Pignite. Yeah, no, I'm going to fix that. As selfish as it may sound, I'm doing this for the Pokémon!

My mind traces to Oshawott. Samurott would be cool that's if Oshawott would actually EVOLVE this time. I swear Ash only had three fully evolved Pokémon at the League. Wtf writers. "I have decided that I'm going to choose Oshawott," I say beam. The little otter looks so happy. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" he says almost inconsiderately happy compared to the sad, hurting Tepig. I do feel bad for the little Fire Pig, but I want an Oshawott cause it's cute, and I don't want two Tepigs. Sorry, little guy.

"Alright! You two first of all here are your very own Pokédexes." Professor Juniper says handing us our dexes. I can't believe it. My very own Pokedex.

"Thanks, professor" Trip says.

"Thank you so much!" I say in succession.

Trip points his Pokedex at Snivy and the machine speaks "Snivy. Cool, calm, and collected, Snivy uses photosynthesis to collect energy with the leaf on its tail." the dex informs us.

I point mine at Oshawott and click the button. "Oshawott the Sea Otter Pokémon. The scallop on its stomach is made from the same element as claws, a substance of keratin. It detaches the scallop for use as a blade." It says.*I'm sorry claws what claws it gets those when it evolves sure, but I sure don't see them but then again it can learn x-scissor so I'm not going to question it.

Ash looks at our Pokédexes, amazed "That's so cool!" he says. Trip looks over to ash and I can tell he is a bit annoyed. "Never seen a Pokédex before?"

We put up our dexes, I put mine in my front right pocket for easy access for when I'm on the go, luckily these pants have deep pockets. "And here are your pokéballs, you can carry up to six pokemon around with ease." imparts our professor as she hands us trays holding five empty pokéballs. I already know this because I play the games, but this isn't the game anymore this is real.

"Yeah, that's pretty basic." Trip says takes his pokéballs. I grab them and put them in my left pocket for easy access because you never know what might pop up here.

"And here are Snivy's and Oshawott's pokéballs. Take good care of them, please." the professor says handing us our partner's pokéballs. "Right" Trip says grabbing it. "Don't worry I will" I say smiling. I can't believe it is a real-life pokéball. It feels so cool.

Trip enlarges the pokéball. "Alright Snivy let's get this journey started," he says. His smile is genuine, but his constant smart-mouth makes it look like another smirk. Snivy returns to his pokéball.

I enlarge Oshawott's "Ok Oshawott, let's have some fun on this journey!" I say then return the little otter to his pokéball. For the time being and I clip his pokéball to my belt. We turn to the professor "Have a great journey you two and good luck" She says smiling at us. "Thanks for everything." both of us say thanking her. I'm surprised we did it in unison. The two of us head out ready to start our journey. I mean I will stick around as I want to travel with Ash so I can get some amazing encounters because I WANT THAT TEPIG and possibly Snivy, maybe depends.

The two of us don't get very far before Ash stops us "Trip! Jordan! Wait up," Ash yells at us as he approaches. "are you guys going to challenge the gyms?" He asks.

"That's basic, Pokémon Trainers go around challenging different gyms to try and win eight badges, so they can enter the Unova League." says the well-versed Trip confidently.

"Wow that's just like back in Kanto," Ash says.

"Ash!" I hear a voice as we see Pikachu rush up to Ash.

"Pikachu! Done with your tests huh?" Ash asks.

"Yep all done," Pikachu says.

I find it hilarious that Trip looks so confused. "Who's that Pokémon?" Trip asks as he gets his Pokedex out to scan the little electric mouse.

"Pikachu, the Mouse Pokémon and the evolved form of Pichu. Pikachu's tail is sometimes struck by lightning as it raises it to check its surroundings." the dex informs us. It looks even cuter in person. I want to pet him so badly.

Trip again takes out his camera to take a picture of the little electric mouse. "Hey, Ash," I say. "can I pet Pikachu? He looks so cute! Don't worry I will be gentle." I ask.

"Sure, Pikachu doesn't mind. Do ya buddy?" Ash checks.

"Just be careful of my cheeks. I don't want to zap you!" Pikachu warns softly. I reach out a hand to pet him, and oh my Arceus he is so soft. It appears I am doing it right as Pikachu is leaning into my petting.

I stop, but I can tell Pikachu wanted to be petted more. Don't worry I will give you more later I promise.

"So why did you take those pictures?" Ash asks Trip.

In response, Trip sighs. "This is why we don't like people from the boonies. Listen up. A Pikachu in Unova is huge, it's a really big deal!" Trip explains.

"Yeah, you usually only ever see them in pictures and sometimes on tv," I say making it up but I do remember Burgundy saying she has seen pictures of Pikachu before. "It's no big deal Pikachu's my number one partner and buddy!" Ash says petting Pikachu's head.

"That's right," Pikachu says.

"I do see your point. There was this one Blaziken I battled in the Johto League..."

"Well, is Pikachu strong?" Trip inquires.

"Oh, you bet!" Ash beams.

"Yep, I sure am." I hear Pikachu agreeing with Ash.

"Wanna see?" Ash challenges Trip.

"Sure." Trip says smirking.

"Hold up. While you two have your battle I'm going to go find a new partner. Have fun!" I say strolling off.

"You're not gonna watch?" Ash asks confused.

"Nah, I have plenty of time to watch battles later but I want to catch me a new friend first. Don't worry I won't be gone long." I say before walking off into the forest. I didn't go too far as to not get lost.

Once I got to a clearing I take out Oshawott's pokéball. "Alright, Oshawott come on out!" I say throwing the pokéball.

Out pops out the little blue otter looking up at me. "Hi, trainer! So what are we doing first?" He asks me.

"First I want to give you a nickname," I say smiling. The little otter looks so excited as he hops from one leg to another kind of like Ash's Totodile.

"A nickname?! Wow! I would love one. I wonder what it is?" He says looking up at me with sparkling eyes.

Squatting down to pet his head, I ask "How about Yugo? It's the name of a blue-haired character who is a ball of joy just like you and both are cute and funny."

"Yugo? I love it!" The newly named Yugo says.

"I also have something else for you," I say and Yugo tilts his head intrigued. I look through my bag and pulled out a white scarf and wrap it around his neck "Here you go now everyone knows you're my partner." I say smiling.

"I shall treasure it forever!" Yugo says.

I let Yugo pose in the scarf a bit before saying, "Ok Yugo, I want to find a new member for our team while Ash and Trip have their battle." I say. I think of what could be found here. I kind of have one in mind, it's a pretty common Pokémon but it's ok for a beginner.

I was about to ask Yugo to help find a certain pokemon when I notice that he looks more alert as he seems to hear something. "Hey! whoever's there show yourself or I will attack!" the perceptive Yugo says suddenly becoming protective of me.

The nearby bushes rustle and a few seconds pass before the pokemon I was looking for walks out. It was a Purrloin! But the weird thing is that it was a blue Purrloin so it was shiny! Ok. You. Are. So. Mine. I did notice that it looked a little banged up like it had a tough battle.

The little blue cat approaches us, and Yugo takes off his scallop ready to attack. "Hold on," the Purrloin says. "I'm not here to fight." I can tell by its voice that it's a girl.

"Oh? Then why did you approach us?" I ask her.

"You see, I was just walking by when I smelled a delicious berry and I was hoping you could give me one. I had a tough battle and have been wanting to find a berry to get better" the Purrloin explains.

I know Purrloin are known for being sneaky and tricking people, but I can tell she's been hurt. She would be too vulnerable to risk another battle for a berry.

"Yeah right! Like we would believe that." Yugo doesn't buy it. Weird in one episode he falls for a Purrloin wonder what makes this one different.

"Yugo I don't see any harm in giving away a berry or two," I say patting the little otter on the head to try and calm him down.

The Purrloin looks surprised "Really? You will? People don't usually trust me because I'm... well, a Purrloin. It doesn't help that since I'm a shiny, trainers would rather just try to capture me instead." Purrlion says surprised.

"Well, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. I am going to trust you" I say. I briefly rustle through my bag for an oran berry. I pull one out and give it to Purrloin. She grabs it and gobbles it down like crazy. Her scratches and bruises soon heal mostly.

"I-I feel so much better, thank you. If there is anything I can do to help just let me know!" She says authentically thankful. "Well how about you join my team? I have been looking for a Purrloin to join my team anyways" I say to her.

She looks surprised, before smiling "Sure I would love to." she says. I take out a pokéball and she taps it with her paw and goes in. A few wiggles and a click and she was caught. "Alright! Our first new member already." Yugo says excitedly.

I let out the Purrloin. "Ok, so I need to think of a nickname for you, how about Ann? It's the name of a fierce cat girl." I say envisioning Ann Tamaki from Persona 5.

"Oooh I like it, it fits me quite well," she says her tail wagging a little.

I go back into my bag and pull out a red scarf and tie it around her neck. "I like this color," she says feeling the fabric. "Wait I just realized can you understand us?" Yugo asks.

"You just now realized that?" Ann sarcastically quips.

"Yep, I sure do," I confirm.

"Cool my trainer can understand us. That makes conversations so much more, fun"Ann says with a toothy grin.

She runs up to ride on my shoulders and I pick up Yugo and carry him in my arms I go back to the battlefield and it appears the battle is over as Snivy has fainted. Wait what in canon Ash lost but I guess here he won. "Oh, Jordan your back!" Ash says noticing me. Trip notices my new member and I can tell he is both shocked and amazed

"You caught a shiny?!" He says amazed.

"Yep, sure did. Well, I befriended them and she joined me," I say petting Ann and getting a purr in response.

Trip quickly takes out his Pokedex and aims it at Ann. "Purrlion the Devious Pokémon. Its cute act is a ruse. When victims let down their guard, they find their items taken. It attacks with sharp claws." the dex informs us.

"Hey, so you're a Purrloin. Nice to meet you!" Ash says greeting himself.

"Hello, it is nice to meet you too," Ann says waving a paw. I notice she has a wave of confidence now that she has a trainer.

We go back to the lab to get Snivy, Pikachu and Ann healed up. Trip then leaves eagerly to begin his journey and not have any more distractions.
