Why Reddit is not for me
I joined Reddit and I was on it for sometime, as I am mostly a muse writer and I want people to react to what I have to say. I used it for sometime and it was a terrible experience.
First, the moderators have too much strictness and their censorship is completely unjustified and I just don't know what to write. One post of mine got removed because of "feminism" and that post didn't even have a single mention of gender in it! It didn't even use the word "man" or "woman". It talked about the wage gap between two different lines of profession.
Second, you can almost never find the correct subreddit (SR) to post on, especially if you are a non-cliche, unique thinker. Some SRs allow only reserved members, some keep removing posts irrationally because it "goes against the rules" but you'll see a heavily disobedient post with upvotes and comments in thousands.
Third, the ridiculous rules. Some SRs have account age and karma requirements (karma is based on what you post and the response you get from it). And sometimes, they don't even mention it in their rule bar! I had to call out a few mods for this.
And lastly, all the hate and anger in that place. SRs are formed for ranting and anti- clubbing against Kpop idols (racism), for hating on other people, for hating on culture, music etc. It gets onto my nerves.
In short, if you think that you will be successful as a writer on Reddit, you're far from the truth. Reddit is a stressful experience for those who just want to write as an outlet. I'm not saying that everyone should avoid it, it's just that it's not meant for everyone.
