---
Twinkle stood by the window, gazing out at the garden bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun. The sight of Samaira running around with her little puppy, Snowy, brought a smile to her face. Her laughter echoed in the air, innocent and free—so different from the darkness Twinkle and Kunj were fighting to keep at bay.
“Kunj,” she called out softly, her voice carrying the weight of her thoughts.
He was sitting on the couch, lost in his own world, flipping through an old photo album. The pictures of his parents smiled back at him—a reminder of the happy days before their sudden loss had left him spiraling into despair. Hearing Twinkle’s voice snapped him out of his trance.
“Haan, Twinkle?” he responded, closing the album and looking at her with a faint smile.
Twinkle hesitated. She didn’t want to ruin the peaceful evening, but Alisha’s message from earlier still weighed heavily on her mind. “Main soch rahi thi... Alisha ke baare mein kuch karna hoga. Hum usse ignore nahi kar sakte.”
Kunj sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Mujhe pata hai. Lekin abhi tak woh sirf dhamki de rahi hai. Usne kuch kiya nahi hai—”
“Woh kuch kare, tab tak hum intezaar nahi kar sakte, Kunj,” Twinkle interrupted, her tone firm. “Woh tumhare past ko use karke humare present ko todna chahti hai. Uska obsession dangerous hai.”
Kunj looked away, his fists clenching. He hated how Alisha’s shadow still lingered over their lives, refusing to let him move on completely. “Main tumhare aur Samaira ke liye kuch bhi kar sakta hoon, Twinkle,” he said after a pause. “Lekin mujhe nahi pata tha ki ek din woh meri sabse badi weakness ban jayegi.”
Twinkle walked over and knelt in front of him, taking his hands in hers.
K-“Tumhari weakness nahi, Kunj. Tumhari strength. Tum ab woh Kunj nahi ho jo drugs mein khoya rehta tha. Tum woh Kunj ho jo apni family ke liye kuch bhi kar sakta hai.”
Her words calmed him, like they always did. Kunj squeezed her hands, determination flaring in his eyes.
K-“Theek hai. Ab Alisha ka khel khatam karne ka waqt aa gaya.”
---
The next morning, Kunj received an unexpected call. His heart sank when he saw the name flashing on the screen: Alisha. For a moment, he considered rejecting it, but something told him he needed to confront her head-on.
He picked up, his voice cold. “Kya chahiye tumhe, Alisha?”
A low chuckle came from the other end. “Oh, Kunj. Tum abhi tak mujhse itni nafrat karte ho? Itni jaldi bhool gaye woh din, jab sirf main thi tumhare saath?”
Kunj’s grip tightened on the phone.
K-“Mujhe woh din yaad hain, Alisha. Aur woh galti bhi yaad hai. Lekin ab mera woh tumse koi lena-dena nahi hai.”
Alisha’s voice turned sharp. “Tumhe lena-dena nahi hai, par mujhe hai. Tumne mujhe reject kiya, mujhe apni life se nikala, aur ab ek perfect family bana liya? Samaira ke baare mein soch rahe ho? Ek phone call, aur woh tumhare se chhin jayegi.”
Kunj’s blood boiled. “Dhamki dena band karo, Alisha. Tumhari jagah mere past mein thi, aur tum wahi rahogi.”
“Woh toh tum dekhoge,” Alisha hissed before disconnecting the call.
Twinkle, who had been listening nearby, immediately walked up to him. “Kya bola usne?” she asked, her voice trembling.
Kunj clenched his jaw, trying to control his anger. “Woh Samaira ko harm karne ki dhamki de rahi thi. Mujhe usse pehle kuch karna hoga.”
---
Despite the tension, Twinkle suggested they take Samaira out for a family day to distract her from the looming danger. They decided on a park near their home, a place filled with swings, laughter, and the scent of fresh flowers.
Samaira’s eyes lit up as soon as they arrived. “Mamma, dekho! Swings!” she exclaimed, running toward them.
Twinkle laughed, watching her daughter’s excitement. “Kunj, at least yahaan toh relax karo,” she said, nudging him.
Kunj smiled faintly, though his mind was still preoccupied. He watched Twinkle push Samaira on the swing, their laughter ringing out like music. For a brief moment, he allowed himself to forget about Alisha and focus on the love in front of him.
But the peace didn’t last long.
As they were heading back to their car, Kunj noticed something unusual. A black sedan parked a few meters away seemed to be following them. He whispered to Twinkle, “Tum Samaira ko lekar gaadi mein jao. Main kuch check kar ke aata hoon.”
Twinkle’s heart raced as she obeyed, clutching Samaira’s hand tightly. Kunj walked toward the sedan, his instincts on high alert. But before he could get close, the car sped off, leaving behind a small package on the ground.
Kunj picked it up cautiously and opened it. Inside was a note:
“Your perfect family won’t last long. Watch your back.”
His hands trembled as he read the words. Alisha wasn’t just threatening them—she was watching their every move.
---
That night, Kunj and Twinkle sat together, their minds racing. Twinkle was the first to speak. “Woh humare piche hai, Kunj. Uska obsession sirf tumse nahi, Samaira se bhi badh gaya hai.”
Kunj nodded grimly. “Humein police ko involve karna chahiye.”
“Police ke paas, evidence kya hai?” Twinkle countered. “Ek anonymous note aur ek call? Woh seriously nahi lenge.”
Kunj frowned, realizing she was right.
K-“Toh phir humein apne tareeke se kuch karna hoga. Agar woh humare aas-paas hai, toh humein usse trap karna hoga.”
Twinkle’s eyes narrowed. “Trap kaise?”
Kunj hesitated, then explained his idea. “Main usse milne ka natak karunga. Usse kahunga ki main uski baatein sunna chahta hoon, usse samajhna chahta hoon. Aur phir woh jo kuch plan kar rahi hai, woh saamne aa jayega.”
Twinkle’s heart sank at the thought. “Yeh risky hai, Kunj. Agar usne tumhe trap kiya toh?”
Kunj held her hands. “Mere liye risky ho sakta hai, lekin tumhare aur Samaira ke liye zaroori hai aur hamare aane wale bacche ke liye bhi. Main tum teeno ki safety ke liye kuch bhi karunga.”
Twinkle didn’t like the plan, but she knew Kunj was right. Alisha needed to be stopped.
---
The next day, Kunj called Alisha and agreed to meet her at an abandoned warehouse outside the city. Twinkle stayed home with Samaira, her heart pounding with fear as she waited for Kunj to return.
At the warehouse, Kunj walked in, his steps echoing in the empty space. Alisha was already there, her eyes gleaming with triumph.
A-“Tum aa gaye,” she said, smirking. “Mujhe pata tha tumhari so-called perfect life tumhe yahan le hi aayegi.”
Kunj kept his tone calm. “Kya chahiye tumhe, Alisha?”
Alisha walked closer, her expression manic.
A-“Mujhe tum. Tumhe yaad hai woh din, jab tum sirf mere saath the? Drugs, parties, aur woh sab kuch jo sirf main samajh sakti thi? Tumhe Twinkle ki boring life ke liye banaya hi nahi gaya.”
Kunj’s fists clenched, but he kept his composure. “Woh mera past tha, Alisha. Tumhe woh yaad rakhna hai, rakho. Lekin meri life ab alag hai.”
Alisha’s smile faded. “Agar tum mujhe nahi mil sakte, toh mujhe tumhe destroy karna hoga.”
Suddenly, a group of men stepped out from the shadows, all hired by Alisha. Kunj realized too late that he had walked into her trap.
---
Back home, Twinkle couldn’t wait any longer. She called the police and took Samaira to their neighbor’s house before heading to the warehouse herself. When she arrived, she saw Kunj surrounded by Alisha’s men.
Without hesitation, Twinkle ran inside. “Kunj!” she shouted, drawing everyone’s attention.
Alisha’s eyes narrowed. “Twinkle. Tum yahan kya kar rahi ho?”
Twinkle glared at her. “Apni family ko bacha rahi hoon. Tumhari obsession tumhe sirf barbaad karegi, Alisha. Lekin main apne pati ko tumhare jaise kisi ke haath chhod nahi sakti.”
Kunj used the distraction to fight back, taking down two of the men. Twinkle joined him, throwing anything she could find to help. Just as things seemed out of control, the sound of police sirens filled the air.
Alisha froze, her face paling. “Tumne police bulayi?” she hissed at Twinkle.
Twinkle smirked. “Samaira aur Kunj ke liye kuch bhi kar sakti hoon.”
As the police arrested Alisha and her men, Kunj and Twinkle embraced, the weight of the ordeal finally lifting.
---
That night, as they tucked Samaira into bed, Kunj looked at Twinkle with gratitude. “Tumne mujhe phir bachaya.”
Twinkle smiled, cupping his face. “Hum ek team hain, Kunj. Tum, main,Samaira aur yeh baby. Aur koi humein tod nahi sakta.”
For the first time in weeks, they slept peacefully, knowing that their love had once again conquered the darkness.
