Chapter 4-Warmth And Discomfort

"TRIS GET IN HERE! WE NEED TO SET SOME GROUND RULES WITH THESE GUYS!" Ava shouted just as I was about to head out for my M10M.

"But I-" I began.

"NOW!" She yelled and I treaded out of the bathroom and into the living room. Where Ava thought it was smart to stand in just a towel!

"Whoa!" Noi said staring at my clothes, "Look at Sorcerer Tristian's source of power!"

"Sorceress," Pierce corrected as he scanned me up and down. His eyebrow raised as he looked on. "What are you wearing?"

"Work out clothes," I answered quickly, "Ava can we hurry this up, I have to run to Tommy's before Ana Maria comes to town this afternoon."

"I remember," She said, "Now, why are you guys, coming through, my walls?"

"Once our home is linked to a surface we can enter through any place at will in close proximity," Rhys answered.

"So, you can come in through anywhere, in our apartment, at any time?" Ava asked.

"He literally just said that," Leif responded.

"Oh shut up!" I told him, "Ava, get the Crayola." She stepped out of the room while I stood up and headed towards the wall.

"Those markings..." Pierce said quietly, trying not to be heard.

"What is this Cray-ola?" Asch demanded.

"Here," Ava said as she came back out and tossed it to me.

"This is our magic spell wand," I said and began drawing on the door, "Once this door has been marked you are bound, to only use this spot, to enter and exit. If you don't use this spot, you'll die." I turned back towards them, Ava nodding in approval at my idea as I tossed her back the Crayola.

"WHAT?!" Asch yelled, very alarmed.

"NO!" Noi screamed.

"Now we're talking!" Leif said with eyes lit up.

"You can't do that!" Rhys objected.

"I. Just. Did," I said and stared them all down, "Now the next thing, don't call us human sorcerers or sorcerer this and that, got it?"

"THANK YOU!" Ava shouted, "We have names!"

"Ava, and, Tristian," Pierce answered.

"H-How did you-" Ava was actually shocked that they knew our name.

"Your friend at the sacrad mall said it," Pierce answered, "And Tristian as well."

"Okay, firstly Lorelai is not my friend! She just yells friend at me and I reciprocate because I'm an enabler. Second-" Ava begins before, Noi... cuts her off? What?

"Do you know our names?" He asks.

"I-I know that... uhhh-" Ava began and I let out a sigh.

"Leif, Pierce, Noi, Asch, and Rhys," I said pointing to each of them, "Can I go now? I'm gonna be late."

"No! We need to talk about personal space!" Ava shouts as the doorbell rings, "Right after I answer the door."

"Ava I-" But she walks by me, "UGH! I'm gonna be late Ava!"

"TOMMY CAN WAIT!" She yelled.

"Who is this, Tommy?" Rhys asked as I sat on the couch and slumped down.

"Obviously a renowned love interest," Asch said and I jumped right up, smacking him upside the head, "OW!"

"That's for calling my brother, my 'love interest'," I said and sat back down, "His fiance is coming to town this afternoon to move in with him, I was gonna help him finish a few things and get the girls in check for their new Mom."

"The, girls?" Pierce asked.

"Yeah, I helped him adopt two girls a long time ago. Alani and Alicia," I said, "They're sweet little angels, but don't exactly like-"

"They're angels!" Noi said, "Cool!" I let out a giggle and sat up a bit.

"We should probably figure out these human clothes," Rhys said.

"In time," I told him, "And not in front of me." I covered my eyes and sunk back into the couch. Telling them that, did nothing. Nothing.

"Oh, my-" Mrs. Oats said as I walked by, "Hello Tris."

"Hi, Mrs. Oats," I said and walked past, "I'm leaving, I can't. You deal with them."

"I have been dealing with them!" Ava shouted.

"Ava look! I did it!" Rhys shouted as she turned around. I stopped and froze. Mrs. Oats. She was right there. Their horns!

"No one saw him do it and he won't tell us," Pierce complains.

"Y-You know what, Ava why don't I stay and help," I said and walked back inside. This, was the first time I saw Rhys in his human clothes. Though I'm mad Ava bought them instead of having me make them, they didn't look that bad. Blue jeans, a white shirt with a blue overcoat. It was... yeah no, he looked hot. My face flushed immediately. "Uh-"

"Oh, but Sorcerer Tristian, don't you have somewhere to be?" Rhys asked.

"Go away!" Ava screamed and is blocked the doorway so Mrs. Oats could no longer see them. The two walked off as I kept my spot behind Ava. "Please, go make sure they don't do anything stupid." I nodded and turned back around the corner. Running right into Rhys.

"Ugh," I said and dropped to the ground.

"Oh, my apologize Sorcerer Tristian, I didn't know you were following us," Rhys said and reached to help me up. I ignored his hand and stood myself.

"I'm fine," I said and walked by him, "Look just please, be good for Ava. I've gotta meet up with Tommy now." Ava came back around the corner and set a small present in her room then came back out.

"Tris, before I lose it on these guys, you go help Tommy," Ava said, "But please bring one of them with you."

"NO!" I shouted, "The only one properly dressed is Rhys... and you know how Tommy gets when I bring guys over..."

"I don't care! Just bring one of them!" She yelled, but I was already running to the door, "Pierce go with her!" Then, I was grabbed from behind.

"UGH!" I swung around and smacked him in the face, "DO NOT PICK ME UP! AND WHEN WE GET TO TOMMY'S, HANDS, OFF!"

"Yes," Pierce said and off we went.

"Ava when I get back you are so dead," I said and walked out the door, "Pierce just, ugh, follow me."

"Would you like me to hide my horns?" He asked and I cocked my eyebrow.

"You can hide your horns?" I asked and all he did was a nod. He brought his hands up to his horns, and with a quick flash of light, they were gone. "Oh, cool. That's gonna help when we go see Tommy. You're quiet enough where he won't think we're together, and the girls won't ask as many questions this way... which now that I think about it, is a total lie. C'mon." I began on my descend out the window and all he could do was stare at me as I did so. "You coming?"

"You, go out the window?" He asked cocking his eyebrow.

"Yeah," I say, "I get a lot of people take it as strange, but I like it. Somewhere high, where you can see everything around you, small the autumn breeze. I don't know... the outside world has always just been... relaxing for me. You know?" I give him a quick look and his eyes seemed to have saddened as he heads towards the window with me. He begins on the climb down without another word. "Okay, now I know something really bad happened. But what?" I give Pierce a look as we stay in the back alley for a minute. A quiet, peaceful minute. Scanning him up and down. "What happened to you, Pierce?"

It took us maybe 15 minutes, and I ran the whole way, Pierce coming up short behind me as we made it to the small little townhomes across town. I took a step or two to slow down and turned on my heel towards Pierce.

"Okay, so just, stay quiet," I told him and turned back towards the long row of houses.

"How are you so fast?" He asked as we kept walking.

"Oh, I run every day, kept work with my endurance and stamina. Plus my stride is super long," I told him as we turned down a sidewalk for Tommy's house. "Now please, stay quiet. Tommy and his little girls will ask a lot of questions and I don't need them jumping on any assumptions. I wasn't even supposed to bring you here!"

"Why?" He asked as the door swung opened. You know in the Avenger Movies? Black Panther? Imagine a clean-shaven version of him, and that's Tommy.

"Trisy!" Tommy shouted and came down the stairs, "This guy better not be harassing my baby sister!" He followed through as I stepped over to him and gave him a large hug.

"No, this is my friend Pierce," I told him as we pulled out of the hug, "He and a bunch of his other friends are staying with Ava and I."

"Let me guess, asked you to take him with you?" He asked with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. I laughed, "Yeah, she did. I thought he could help since we have to move around a lot of stuff for Ana Maria."

"Of course! The more the merrier!" Tommy says and heads over to Pierce with a big smile. He tosses his hand down and shakes Pierce's firmly. "Pleasure to meet one of my sister's friends! Not every day she brings around a nice-looking guy or someone in general!" He lets out a laugh as Pierce nods back to him.

"AUNTIE TRISY!" I hear two little voices shout as I'm tripping over my feet. Suddenly I've got two little energetic six-year-olds on my back jumping.

"UGH!" I said and then began laughing a bit.

"Oh, c'mon girls get off of Trisy," Tommy said and helped me up.

"Thanks," I said and picked them both up, "AH! You two are getting so big!" I kissed them both on the cheeks before setting them down. Each looked as they should. Princesses.

"Trisy?" Pierce asked and my face flushed.

"Oh, it's just a nickname I gave her when she stopped going by Vi-" I had Alani down on the ground and smacked my hand over Tommy's mouth just in the nick of time.

"OH! The good old days! Weren't they Tommy?" I laughed nervously and turned to head inside. Alani racing at my feet as Alicia laughed in my arms.

~*~*~TIME SKIP~*~

"Thanks for helping, Pierce," I could faintly hear Tommy say, "Take her home and make sure she gets plenty of rest. And remind her that she'll be-" To that point, I had zoned out. I could feel something, warm, all around me. In the autumn air, warm felt, nice. Slowly I felt myself drift asleep, and by the time I woke up. I was back on the couch.

"She's awake!" I heard someone say, and once my eyes fully adjusted, I saw Rhys, with no horns.

"Ugh..." I said as I also felt someone, playing with my shoes. Noi. Of course, the innocent one.

"How are you feeling?" Pierce asked.

"Huh?" I asked and sat up, turning to properly sit on the couch. Right between Noi and Rhys. "What do you mean?"

"Pierce was telling us you were 'knocked out' while you were at the human Tommy's house," Leif commented.

"Oh, I must've hit my head," I said, "Knowing Tommy's house, Diablo probably missed me and knocked me over."

"The spirit," Pierce said.

"Yeah, that's Diablo. Heh, his a sweet little guy, just doesn't know his own strength," I say with a smile, "Thanks for the help, Pierce."

"Yes," He said.

"So, how did things go with Ava?" I asked and looked around.

"She was mad at us... we had taken a human prisoner when they came in unannounced," Rhys answered, "But she did show me ice cream!"

"Oh, not a fan of ice cream," I said and he looked genuinely hurt, "Unless it's cherry!" I smiled bright, feeling his angry scowl drip off his face. "Well, tell away. I'm sure everyone else wants to know what ice cream is like!" I stand up and begin heading for the bathroom to grab my clothes and change out of my workout gear.

"Trisy," I heard someone say. I turn on my heels and see Pierce standing up from his chair, finally realizing his clothes are basically falling off of him. "Oh, my word why do they have to be so hot?!"

"Don't call me that, you call me Tristian," I said and turned my back on them again.

"But the human Tommy called you that, and his angels," Pierce answered.

"They're family," I told them, keeping my back on them, "That's different."

"Do your parents call you that?" Leif asked and once he did. I dropped dead. I-I had no words. I could feel my body trembling as thoughts raced to and from my mind. I know them being here, with what I know should bother me, but it doesn't.

"I-I don't," I swallowed hard, hearing how raspy my voice was, "I don't wanna talk about it." Then I continue to the bathroom, and by the time I get back. They're gone. The only thing left is my blanket, on the couch. I smile nervously and lay back down on the couch. As compared to the warmth I felt earlier, the couch, and a hot shower, have nothing on that feeling. I wonder what it was.
