Feminism

So if you read my rant book, you know I did a whole thing on it on the #HeForShe program. But this is different. Please note that I might've referenced to comics from http://rasenth.tumblr.com/ and I don't own that. I just own an opinion.

When a girl says they're a feminist, boys think that she hates them. Meanwhile, when a boy says he is a feminism the results are either: the get called names, or they get looked upon as role models. Mainly they get teased.

When we talk about one sides issue, the other side thinks that we forgot about them or something. Especially when we talk about women. Many men are supportive and there for he He for She program. Then, there are men who aren't. They start pointing fingers or saying stuff like, 'they want to overpower us.'

Most of the time, this isn't the case. Feminism isn't about overpowering anyone. It's about equality for all. And many people are forgetting that.

Men he abused too, but they're afraid to say it because they think that they will be called weak. In the middle school I go to, if a boy gets bullied, the bullies always call him something like sissy, or girly, or spat insults like, 'you [insert activity here] like a girl!'

Why? Because it's shameful for men to be weak. It's shameful for them to be 'like women.'

**flashback**

Last year, in my English class, I was put in a group with all girls with only one boy. He was acting very weird and kept looking back at his friends on the other table. He kept muttering 'ugh I'm the only guy in this table!' over and over.

I asked him why he was so keen on saying that over and over and told him what's wrong. He said, and I will never forget, "because you guys are going to talk about girly stuff and I'm gonna be bored by it."

I was taken aback-I was the complete opposite of girly. I assured him that I hated girly stuff, but it shocked me when he answered, "yeah sure. Everyone says that, but you're girls. No offense, but my friends are gonna start talking about how I'm the only guy in this table soon enough, you'll see."

Let's just say he talked to the teacher and got moved to another table the next day...

***end of flashback***

But this just shows that guys have problems too, and some are not entirely revolving around how to impress a girl. Because sexism that hurts women, also hurt men. It's not just for women.

Feminism isn't about 'Us vs. Them.'

It's about 'Us Vs. Our Mutual Understanding' of our problems. If we just take the time to sit down, talk and I dunno, discuss problems from BOTH SIDES. Then maybe, we can end sexism for all.

Because talking it out, and listening can help us all. We, the next generation can change the world.

And I can connect this kinda to what Ms. Watson said. She invited men to, not only stop sexism for women, but also stop this for men.
