Chapter 4 - Mr Tumnus' House

And so, the walk to Mr Tumnus' house began. Y/N walked at the back of the group, her feet making perfect prints in the snow, while her eyes stared at Lucy's long coat that was trailing in the snow. When they passed by the lamp post, Y/N smiled at the familiar light that had made her feel safe the previous day. She walked slowly, careful not to interrupt the fun that the Pevensies were having, rolling along in the snow. Well, three of them. Edmund didn't look like he was having much fun. At all. Y/N caught up to the boy and flashed him a smile. He smiled back. Neither knew it yet, but they found the other's smile comforting.

After a while of walking, Lucy told the others that Mr Tumnus' House was right around the corner.
"-and we'll have lots and lots of..." Lucy's voice faded away, as she stared at a little cave that must have been Mr Tumnus' house.
The door had been broken down.
"Lu?" Peter placed his hand on her shoulder, but she ran ahead into the cavern, gasping.
"Lucy!" Peter shouted after her, as the children followed Lucy.

As they entered the home of Lucy's friend, Y/N noticed that it resembles a somewhat small, but comfortable flat. At least, it would have. Everything was turned over and the place was a huge mess!
"Who would do something like this?" Lucy broke the austere silence.
A clatter was heard from behind Y/N. The children turned around frantically, scared that somebody had found them. But it was only Edmund; he had stepped on a framed portrait.
Peter yanked a piece of paper off a little pillar - all the while glaring at Edmund - and began to read it.
"The faun, Tumnus, is hereby charged with high treason against her Imperial Majesty, Jadis, Queen of Narnia, for comforting her enemies and fraternising with humans. Signed, Maugrim, Captain of the Secret Police. Long live the Queen."

Susan took the notice from him.
"Alright. Now we really should go back."
"But what about Mr Tumnus?" Lucy pleaded.
"If he was arrested just for being with a human, I don't think there's much we can do," Susan said.
"You don't understand, do you?"
The children looked at Lucy.
"I'm the human. She must have found out he helped me."
Though none of the others noticed it, Edmund now had a sickly expression of guilt plastered to his face.
"Maybe we can call the police," Peter suggested.
"These are the police," Y/N piped in.
"Don't worry, Lu. We'll think of something," Peter assured his sister.
"Why?"
Everybody turned to look at Edmund.
"I mean, he's a criminal," the boy said.
"I hadn't thought of it that way," Y/N thought.

Just then, a bird landed on a small tree outside.
"Psst."
Susan looked at Y/N.
"Did that bird just 'psst' us?"
