Background: In the beginning of his life, John lived both a normal and happy childhood. However, his life would change for the worse when he was just 5 years old. During his childhood, he was forced to experience WW3, and he was there when the nations of Russia and China invaded Los Angeles during a family vacation. His parents ran for their lives and tried to protect him, but it was too late as John watched Russian and Chinese soldier gun his family down in cold blood. Just as they were about to kill him, he was saved by an American Black Ops unit called Ghost Recon and took him in as one of their own since he didn't have any family members left. During his military, he was able to find a place to call home but at the same time, he also grew to become a cold and emotionless killing machine. When he was approached by Dr. Halsey who offered him a place in the Guardian Program, he accepted willingly.

During his military training, John was considered unique compared to his peers. Mainly due to the fact he's shown to have an insane amount of luck. Because of this, no matter the situation or obstacle, he's able to find a way to get out and win. What is also known about him is that he's the direct blood descendant of Ulysses S. Grant, the very same General who led the Union to victory against the Confederacy during the American Civil War. Because of this, he's sometimes nicknamed 'Lucky Grant'. After a few years of harsh and brutal training, he was ready for his augmentations and gene therapy, allowing him to become a Guardian Supersoldier. After being given his custom set of the PHALANX Powered Assault Armor, he was deployed into multiple missions. Due to being trained by Ghost Recon, John was often seen as a 'Lone Wolf' kind of person. Due to being so good at his job, he was designated as 'Hyper Lethal' vector. Because he was also so good, some of the higher ups also called him 'Master Chief' in reference to Halo, along with the appearance of his armor and designation number.

However, his life slowly changed when he was essentially 'forced' to join a squad called Silver Team led by a fellow Guardian named Julian Chase/Guaridan-104. He didn't get along with his team at first, mainly because he mostly kept to himself and always liked to be along. However, after spending more time with them and working alongside them, he began to open up and work with them. Eventually he's even able to hold a normal conversation with them. He was especially close to Julian as he sees him as a brother figure. At the same time, he would often notice how he would get weird looks from his teammate Ishimi Yokoyama. It started after he saved her younger brother who was the same age as him named Kentaro Yokoyama after he was kidnapped by terrorists, along with a few other people. Needless to say, after rescuing the hostages, including Ishimi's brother, he would often catch her staring at him sometimes, often seeing a blush on her face before quickly looking away. Although finding it weird at first, he didn't think much of it at the time.

Now in the present day, John continues to work with his teammates and works hard to keep world peace.

Personality: In the beginning, John was a go to happy child with a lot of innocence. But after the death of his parents and the trauma he was forced to endure as a child, he became cold, emotionless, and unflinching. Any sense of humanity or feelings he once had was torn out of him. His training with Ghost Recon and the trauma he endured had only deepened that predicament he was in. In the end, John has come to terms with his new life and has embraced his life as a soldier acting as a 'Sword and Shield' for humanity in times of need. Despite what's he been turned into, he held no resentment or hatred towards Dr. Halsey because of his conscription, instead accepting the life imposed on him as a chance to live up to his full potential, in part because he was an orphan who had nowhere else to go. Like all the other Guardians, John has a strong sense of duty and commitment towards the UAC and her allies.

While he is generally stoic and taciturn, that changed after joining Silver Team. Despite their rough start, they've learned to grow onto him and eventually started to show some form of emotion. Although still mostly quiet and emotionless, he has 'somewhat' developed a sense of humor and often makes dry remarks about the situation at hand to his teammates and allies. Furthermore, despite being made to be 'superior' compared to the regular or enhanced humans, he doesn't see himself as a superior being and he does fears for the lives of others before his own in his own way. Despite how he displays himself in front of others, in war or conflict, he's known for putting himself in harm's way for the safety of civilians, and fellow soldiers, and does not judge others. He respects them and treats them fairly.

He's also shown to be very much against racism, discrimination, and corruption. Evident by how he would deal with remnant terrorists or insurgents who still cling onto the old ways and wish to bring them back. An example what when he learned and witness remnants of the KKK massacre almost an entire community due to most of them being non-European whites and how they also killed the white folks living there, calling them 'race traitors'. This was enough to break his emotionless expression which soon turned into a cold and murderous fury. When he found them, he slaughtered all of them without any remorse or regret. Furthermore, he has shown himself to have a soft spot towards children and animals, especially infants, who he saved a few times. John didn't want them to endure the same way did, so he made sure to either bring them back or keep their families both safe and alive.

The final thing that should be noted is that he's often a man of his word. Although he isn't naive or foolish to have such ideas, he would often make promises and strive to keep them, even if at personal risk. Despite impossible odds and thanks to his luck, he was able to keep his promises.

Armor: PHALANX Powered Assault Armor

Equipment:

Hyperalloy (Terminator): A new, durable metallic alloy that's extremely tough and durable than any known metal on Earth. It also known to be heat resistant and allows the armor to take hits against both energy and plasma weapons.

Nanolaminate Armor (Gundam IBO): A special metal paint that reacts to Ahab Particles that is vapor-deposited onto the surface of the armor. This defensive paint forms a multilayer molecular arrangement capable of handling impact from the outside, but it can break or peel off, requiring repainting. At first glance the armor seems hard, but in principle it's like a very thin cushion with several layers. It's also known to be effective to counter against and render beam weaponry ineffective by diffusing and deflecting the fired beam, minimizing the damage done. It is also effective against physical projectiles as its energy-bearing molecules can absorb the impact from live ammunitions and explosive charges, thereby protecting the machine's body from damage. As a result, ranged firearms are unable to score decisive hits against them and may only shave off small pieces of it unless at close range. Because of its strength and widespread usage, anti-armor weapons are usually in the form of melee weapons as they are best at dealing damage to the armor. The armor's strength is positively influenced by Ahab Particles, and the gravitational field generated has an effect on the armor's multi-layered molecular arrangement. Thus, if the Ahab Reactor shuts down, the armor's capability will also drop. However, as the foundation is strong, the drop is minimal.

Grappling Hook: A wrist mounted equipment. Can be used effectively to move from one location to another or be used to help quickly get items. It can also be used to attack enemies to allow the user for a melee kill or to strangle them to death.

Energy Shields: An advanced defensive technology making use of a field of energized particles that wraps around a surface, which deflects objects that attempt to impact the surface. It still in its prototype stages but the shields protect the user from both projectile and energy weapons. When the shields are depleted, the user has to take cover and allow the shields to recharge. So far only Guardians are the only soldiers allowed to use this technology.

Active Camouflage: Reflects light and allows the person to turn completely invisible to the naked eyes. It also allows the user to be undetected by all forms of signatures, allowing for enhanced stealth capabilities.

Powers/Abilities:

Slow-Mo (F.E.A.R.): A special ability that's granted to Guardians after receiving their augmentations. Given the nickname 'Slow-Mo', it's an ability that allows for the activation of supernatural fast reflexes and movement. When in the Slow-Mo state, time seems to slow down as the user uses vastly heightened speed and agility. It's been stated that when Guardians use this ability, their vision perceives the world around them as moving five times slower than normal, allowing for precise and consecutive shots to be fired at superhuman accuracy.

Self-Healing Regeneration: Due to the augmentations, John's cells are able to divide 50x faster compared to the average human or enhanced whose cells only divide 25x time faster. This means that he's able to heal instantly.
