Chapter 83 - ABCDE F U Endeavor
Well, the good news is that Endeavor has accepted me. I can't tell you the terms of how I was accepted, whether it be because the HC forced him or if Todoroki threatened his life, but I am accepted, and that's all that matters in that aspect. Bakugo has also been accepted, and I can guarantee that he would not have it without Todoroki's help.
Thankfully, I have time to prepare before going on the internship, which is around a week. That's much more time than Nezu has ever given me for anything. I have plenty of time to get shit done without stressing for once! I could cry tears of joy!
However, I have shit to do, so I'll cry when I have it done.
Now, I could go over everything, but I will just summarize my break for everyone's sakes. You're welcome.
Thankfully, there isn't too much to announce, so this should be a quicky.
The first day, I could not get anything I wanted to get done done since I needed to do research on police officers before I did testing. I needed to know what I should expect from that. You know, like what kind of training they have, what they can do as a police officer, quirk laws surrounding them, and shit like that. I know the basics, but since I am a hero and not a police officer, I need to know more than the basics.
That way, I can be as morally grey as possible legally with them!
After some research, I found that they can do quite a lot except use their quirks. Due to heroes, though, they tend to focus on gathering the leftovers and attempting to be support. That's not going to work for what I want them to do. I can't expect them to act like heroes no matter how much I want to try to. Instead, I need to focus on making them more independent that they can do more. It may take some rewiring, but it should work.
As for the training itself, they have a good bit of training, as expected from police officers. It's nowhere near hero training, but it's training. It's better then sending our local cashier in.
Of course, Shouta figured out my plan during this time, and he actually seemed interested for once.
Why can't he be interested in my support items too?
Well, Shouta's always one for improving law enforcement with his issues with them and hero society in general, so I guess it shouldn't be too much of a surprise. That actually worked in my favor since he said that he would help me to come up with training plans and overlook the process with me.
I suspect that last part is just to keep an eye on me, but I didn't stop him.
Shouta and I arrived at Tsukauchi's station, met up with the detective, and moved to where the training would be taking place. Inside, six officers waited in proper formation, their expressions ranging from eager to nervous. After introducing ourselves, we set them straight to work to see their limits and such.
For two hours straight with no breaks. Yeah, we were really testing the endurance there.
The results could be better, but they aren't the worst thing I have seen. There's also a wide range of different abilities for different people here, so it means that I should cater to each of them.
That's not a bad thing at the beginning, but if our numbers grow, that will be a difficult issue to assess.
For now, we will be catering. Shouta and I went up to each of them, told them their results, and what they should focus more on. After discussing with everyone, I set the training day to Saturday nights, (I wish I could force more days, but since this is optional, I don't want to push limits yet. Besides, I'm too busy to try that.) gave them their packets with their results and what they should do, gave them each a packet of Mom's cookies (She felt sorry for them since they are having to deal with me), and sent them off their merry way.
Overall, it went better than expected! Even Shouta was shocked!
Now, at this point, since I was already at the police station, I would be snatching up criminals to train for my force as well. However, there was one HUGE road block I have come across.
People I can actually train. Law enforcement is extremely strict on letting me pick prisoners to train. I can't pick prisoners with any sort of illegal quirk use, violent pasts, or even for any significant criminal pasts. That's literally where all the good bitches I need are. What I was left with was either drug addicts or people who have committed tax evasion basically.
Yeah, the prisoner idea is out the window at this point. It's frustrating.
Instead, I just go back to UA with Shouta and chill for the rest of the night.
Then, for the rest of my time, I worked on my robotic arm, my bots, and my public hero costume, though the last two ended up going together.
The robotic arm is the easiest to explain. The old one is still in the trashcan, and I rather not have dust (dead bodies) on it. Instead, I decided to just make a new and improved one that looks different enough to not traumatize me. That was my most significant task. I can go without everything else, but if I don't have an arm, that would cause a lot of issues. Since it didn't take too long, it still gave me plenty of time for the other two.
CAT and Patchy were still dead. I have not had a chance to repair them since the fucking island incident, but now I finally had a chance to do so.
Since I am going to Endeavor's agency, that is filled with powerful quirks, I needed a powerful weapons to compensate. CAT and Patchy fall perfectly into those categories, but there was an issue. While Patchy was an easy rebuild and already had planned features to add, CAT was a different ballpark. I got CAT sent in from Melissa from I-Island due to us simply not having the materials here. It would take a while to build another CAT like that, likely not in time for the work study. To make matters worse, CAT was a significant part of my public hero costume. It could transform into whatever I needed, and we would go from there.
With all that in mind, I got in a call with Mei and Melissa to discuss the issues.
Melissa, being the most logical out of the three of us, came up with the solution:
Why should I sacrifice my armor to have it do something else when I can just have two different robots? CAT would be focused on communications and shit like that while the new robot would only be my armor. CAT would have the armor feature, but it would only be used in emergencies.
This is why I talk to her. Do you think I would have came up with a solution like that? No. It would have been outrageous and stupid and a waste of my time probably with my luck. And don't get me started on Mei.
Either way, that was a much more possible plan. Therefore, Melissa would be in charge of making CAT again, doing whatever the hell she wants with it, Mei would be in charge of rebuilding Patchy, only following my instructions, and I would build the new robot that is my armor.
Never in my life have I been so happy to save my programming from other projects. It meant I could just steal the armor programming from CAT, shove it into the new robot, and just adjust where needed.
My original idea was to make a whole suit. However, I decided against it since there are times where I simply can't use it, and it's not exactly the friendliest thing around. I also would like to escape it easily.
Instead, I made sort of an exoskeleton. The legs and arms are the same as CAT's with the roller legs, increased kicking power, grappling hooks, and lasers. Those features are improved upon, but I will talk about those once they are in the works. The back has all the mechanics for the programming with bendable metal connecting everything together. The majors addition I added to this is the connection to the head, which is connected to a headset with a visor. It's the visor I always have with the same functions, but now I can work it without relying on a signal like I had to do with CAT. The other major addition is just a place for Patchy to connect to give me wings on the back.
By the end, without me in it, it looks kind of like a black T-Rex, thus we now have T-Rex in the group of robots!
During this time, Patchy was also rebuilt. It's simply smaller and better. Not much has changed with it. Just improvements.
And you know what? I got it finished a couple days before the deadline! Can you believe it?! I don't, and I'm from the future here!
It gave me time to actually work on an actual hero costume! I was going to wear my UA uniform everywhere with T-Rex over it, which would have been terrible since it's not the warmest and it's not the warmest time of the year, but since I had time, I could make clothes! Warm clothes!
I should have had this done at the beginning of year, but I didn't think I would be this public yet. I thought I had a couple years before then, but life had to throw a wrench in things. I had to stop putting it off and finally make a suit instead of making everyone confused every time I showed up in something different.
Unlike before, where I always did a two piece design, I decided to do a padded green and black body suit with a utility belt this time. Finally, I look more like a hero than a villain! Maybe I can finally stop having the psychologists stop at my door and give me the sanity test!
Anyway, with all that complete, it left me half a day to do whatever the hell I want for once, so I finally spent time with my age-group for once, more specifically Shinso to see how his training is going. Then that night, I chilled with Mom and Eri.
I swear, this is the easiest time I have had with life in a while. For the past few months, I just feel like I was getting slapped over and over, figuratively and literally.
Damn, that was a long-ass explanation. I know it's a week, so it should be, but I thought it would be shorter.
Oh well! Time to focus back on reality.
It's the morning of the first day of work studies, and I am currently having to deal with Hizashi's bullshit.
"I still can't believe you chose Endeavor over me! Endeavor!" Hizashi whines as I am getting my shit together in my room.
"Hizashi, you have literally said this everyday for the past week. You know my reasonings for this," I state in a tone closer to Shouta's because goddamn, I explained this already!
"But you can't blame me! I got beaten by a man who you hate!"
Nemuri, who has taken over my bed, says, "At least he considered yours."
"No offense, Nem, but you don't have a lot to offer Izuku when it comes to training." She scoffs.
"That's not true! I can teach him how to flirt and manipulate people!"
"And Izuku needs that why? Ma'am, he's literally called insane on the media once a month at least. We don't need to be encouraging those habits."
"Why not? Let him embrace who he is! He's already doing those things anyway! I'm just going to help him improve!"
I decide now is a good time to intervene with this conversation, "Yeah, I think they're good enough. Thanks for the offer though!"
Nemuri pouts, "Know that my offer is always opened if you decide to drop Endeavor."
"Same here!" Hizashi adds.
I smile, "Thanks, guys. Right now, I am just going to suck the resources out of Endeavor and bully him. He's not going to replace you, if that's what you're worried about."
"...let's not use the word suck in that context, alright, Izu?"
"It's not my fault if you take that in a horny way. I have nothing to do with that."
Nemuri straightens up and wraps an arm around Hizashi's shoulder, "Don't worry about him. He's just missing Shouta is all."
"NEMURI!" Hizashi squeals as he looks away blushing.
I click my tongue, "I want nothing to do with this conversation. Besides, I'm still returning at night, so I have to deal with y'alls bullshit still."
Nemuri narrows her eyes at me, "You make us sound like a burden."
"No. If anything, I am the burden in our friendship since I am always getting involved in shit. I just don't want to come back and witness something that could possibility traumatize me."
"Izuku, call yourself a burden again and you get the whip."
"Yes, ma'am." I hate that stupid thing, so I will be avoiding that.
Hizashi adds, "And I will wrap you up in a blanket burrito and never let you go."
"Yes, sir." I don't know which is more traumatizing, and I rather not find out.
A knock on the doorframe causes me to spin around and find Shouta there, "We're having a discussion about what you just said later."
"Damn it."
Shouta approaches me and looks over my shoulder to make sure I didn't pack anything illegal. Once he's satisfied, he backs off.
"I am being treated like a child," I huff as I close my suitcase.
Hizashi responds, "Because you are one?"
"I just look like one."
"Considering you are a highschool student, I think you are one."
"Highschool students are teenagers."
Shouta inserts, "But you act like a child."
"Hey! Sir, do you forget the other students in my class?!"
"No, but I don't spend time with them outside of being a teacher unlike you."
"Maybe you should-"
"No."
I roll my eyes, "Pussy. Anywhos, everyone needs to get out because I need to leave for pain and suffering. Aren't y'all supposed to be working anyway?"
"It's winter break, Izu," Nemuri purrs as she leads everybody out. We just simply follow her. Once we are in the dorm living room, I lock my door behind me.
"Don't you have to plan lesson plans or what not?"
"That's a future me problem."
"Same," Hizashi says.
Shouta sighs, "Nezu always has something planned anyway."
I can't help when I respond with, "Oof."
Shouta huffs, shaking his head as he pulls me into a quick side hug, "Don't get kicked out the first day."
"So I can get kicked out of the second?"
Shouta gently shoves me away, "You know the answer to that."
Without waiting for a response, he heads out. Bitchass pussy. Anyway, I give a quick hug to Hizashi and Nemuri before heading out of UA to a bus station. The students were sent home last night to spend a single night with their families, so I'm having to meet them there instead of just going to the dorm and picking up Bakugo and Todoroki.
Todoroki ends up being the first to arrive, and I have a one-sided conversation with him for a few minutes until Bakugo shows up.
"Boom boom boy! Ready to wreck Endeavor's shit?!" I exclaim with a grin.
Bakugo immediately goes boom boom, "OH, shut the fuck up, Deku! I am not taking part in whatever the hell you and Icy Hot are going to be doing! I'm going to be actually learning something instead of wasting my time!"
"You still mad about Best Jeanist?"
"DEKU!"
I casually move out of the way to avoid a punch to the face and decide to continue my conversation with the sane one, "Hey, Todoroki, you mind if I call you Shoto outside of hero Shoto? Like, your father has the same name, and I also feel it will trigger him-"
"Please do," Todoroki- Shoto interrupts.
"Alright then."
The bus arrives at that moment, and I hop on the bus first to avoid Bakugo. Shoto and him follow after, so I take them to the back of the bus.
Once the bus gets going, Bakugo huffs, "Why are you even doing this? Wouldn't you be more useful back at UA?"
Thanks for bringing up that trauma, Bakugo! Not that he knows, but goddamn. If Shouta caught wind of him saying that, he might kill the boy.
Good thing I'm not telling him!
I simply roll my eyes at Bakugo, "I have my reasons. Not that you deserve to know them, but I have them."
"I wasn't going to ask anyway!" Bakugo snaps.
"Then why did you ask in the first place?"
That got him to shut up.
For the rest of the ride, there was no chit chat. Maybe because it is too early in the morning for such. Maybe it is because I don't want Bakugo to get us kicked out of the bus. Either way, we are good boys on the bus. Well, for the most part. Patchy is with me, and anytime Patchy or CAT is with me, the bus drivers always try to charge me an extra ticket for them.
Well, I'm cheap, so Patchy has to sit on the roof the whole time. Robot abuse, I know. However, I like to believe I am doing it a favor since it's better than being trapped with disgusting ass humans like Bakugo.
Eventually, we arrive in Tokyo and step off only to find Endeavor already there.
That's suspicious. That's weird.
Endeavor takes us away from the crowd before turning around and SMILING AT US WITH THE FAKEST ASS SMILE I HAVE SEEN IN A WHILE! LIKE, LORD HAVE MERCY, I RATHER LEAVE RIGHT NOW BECAUSE IT'S TAKING EVERYTHING TO NOT TO BURST OUT LAUGHING BECAUSE ENDEAVOR IS SO FAKE!
"Welcome to working with Endeavor-" Endeavor starts, but I can't with this disrespect. I rather him tell us straight-up that he doesn't want us here than to play us like barbie dolls.
I burst out laughing, ignoring the weird ass looks I am getting, "AHAHAHAHA! BITCH, STOP LYING! NO NEED TO HIDE THE TRUTH FROM US! WE KNOW HOW YOU WORK BY NOW!"
Immediately, the smile drops (which is a blessing sadly), "Shoto, why are you friends with this imbecile?!" That's actually one of the nicer things I have been called. Endeavor really is a bitchbaby.
Shoto, with his usual lack of expression, simply says, "Izuku is my best friend because he is nice to me."
I put my free hand over my mouth BECAUSE THE TEA IS BOILING HOT! SHOTO WENT THERE AS HE FUCKING SHOULD! I don't consider him my bestie, sure, but I am willing to make an exception for this.
Endeavor's jaw clenches, but he decides to let that go for now, "Due to Shoto's insistence, he forced me to allow you two to join along, but I wish Shoto had come on his own."
I grin, "There's the Endeavor I know and hate!"
Endeavor growls at me, "I see you haven't changed much."
"Nope!"
"Better get rid of that habit before I get rid of you."
"You'll realize my reason for being here soon enough if you haven't been told already." Endeavor looks at me for a moment, and I think he realizes that I know more than I let on because he doesn't retort that.
Bakugo does instead, "Shut up already, Deku!"
"No, babe-" I start to respond but I feel like something is off. With the amount of trauma I have, it's either anxiety or something else.
Considering Endeavor blasted off at the same moment I started running, I think it's safe to assume it's something else. It takes a moment longer for Shoto and Bakugo to move, but considering they don't have my levels of trauma yet or on-field training, that's expected. They catch up to me easily, and I am so thankful I focused on speed because I can keep up with these two powerhouses. It's not easy with a suitcase and only one arm, but I am just going to say these two have been slacking on training and move on.
"I intend to look after my son! If you want to learn, then stand back and watch!" Endeavor demands as we get closer to the incident.
Ah, I see. We're just a number for his personal body count. That's okay!
"Patchy, go ahead and make sure the area has been evacuated!" Patchy does as I am asked. I then turn my attention to Bakugo, "Don't worry, homie! Endeavor may let you die, but I won't!"
"SHUT UP, DEKU!" Bakugo yells as he tries to blast ahead.
"Technically, I am a higher placement than you, so never!"
Shoto interrupts us, "This is not the time."
I roll my eyes, "My life is not the time." However, I don't say anything outside of that.
We arrive to the battle scene to find a dirty old guy flying around on top of bubbles- no, that's glass. He's stealing glass from the windows of nearby buildings to make those bubbles. That's an interesting quirk. I'd have way too much fun playing around with it.
"-WILL SOON BE DEVOURED BY DARKNESS!" The old ass dude screams as he raises his hands to snatch up more glass.
Goddamn it, it's one of those guys who believe that the end of the universe is coming. I hate these guys. I already question my existence enough, and then one of these people have to come by and say that it's going to end in 24 hours? It makes me cry. It doesn't help that I got really involved in that shit while I was drunk, so a lot of my texts to Shouta during that time was asking if the world was going to end soon. He would then call me and tell me that 'no, everything is fine. stop drinking.', and I would say no. That mess went on for a while.
So yeah, I have my trauma there.
Oh wait, I'm in a fight. Oops.
The grumpy old man makes a huge ass ball of glass in air, and it looks like he is about to throw it at us. That's not good. Patchy's blast should be enough force to destroy it.
Well, good thing I am just watching!
"NO MORE HIDING! COME FORTH! SHOW YOURSELF MESSENGER OF PLUTO!" Wise old man screams as he throws the ball down.
Only to be stopped by Endeavor's flaming fist,
"Flash Fire Fist!"
The head forces it to melt onto the ground, which I know will be a bitch to clean up because you either clean it up while it is hot or let it cool and struggle to break it. I guess we're not supposed to worry about that.
"You control glass, old man?" Endeavor asks, and that confuses me, "You show great skill. Why create such chaos? I'm afraid I can't let you get away with this!"
It takes a lot to not laugh. When the hell has Endeavor ever given compliments?
Actually, wait. You're telling me that Endeavor is willing to compliment a villain, but he treats Bakugo and I like a nuisance despite being on the same team? Well, I understand Bakugo, BUT ME?!
I am just saying there is something wrong with this picture.
Of course, the glassman flew off, so we had to chase after him. Apparently, the old man has other guys working for him as he sends Endeavor through and alleyway and tries to trap him with rope. The man and his lackeys are not that smart because Endeavor just burns the rope as he flies through and captures the man.
The rest of us were going to capture the three guys, but three pieces of red blur my vision as they drag the men away.
I am not shocked when I see Hawks flying down, "Sorry, I was just a little faster than you. I thought Endeavor might need a bit of help out here."
Endeavor growls from where he was holding down the old man, "Did it look like I was in trouble?" You're always in trouble in my eyes, so yes sir. Not that I am going to be saying that out loud.
"I mean, kinda. What do you think, kid?" Hawks asks Shoto. The boy just says an awkward uh.
"I said to warn me before showing up." I forget Hawks and Endeavor are working together to attempt to make Endeavor a better number one hero. I tried to help, but he wasn't very appreciative hearing it from me.
Hawks simply shrugs, "Didn't have time. I was already in the area."
We stick around until the cops arrive, who compliment Endeavor for no causalities (ignoring the cleanup) and that we will be good as long as he is around.
Quite frankly, I don't give a fuck there.
As they were shoving the oldie into the car, the old man yells, "Him! He's the source! The fire he gives off blinds you! He will be the demise of my world! Let go! If you don't release me to my duties, all is lost!"
Well, since Endeavor complimented him, I might as well do so as well, "Keep up the good work, buddy! Hope you get out soon!" And expose this motherfucking bitch who is now glaring me down.
"DEKU, YOU IDIOT!" Bakugo yells.
"I'm just trying to be supportive of everyone's dreams!" I say with a big old smile!
Hawks interrupts as he approaches with an unusual expression, something I would not pin for this situation.
"Do you need something, Hawks?" Endeavor asks.
Hawks reaches into his back pocket, "I don't want anything, but Endeavor, have you read this book?"
Hawks pulls out that fucking red book I seen everywhere in Deika City. It takes everything not to react visibly to it. When he is showing this book off with a smile, I know that there is something important in that book that Hawks shoved in.
We need that book.
"I don't have time to read," Endeavor huffs, clearly unamused. WRONG REACTION! ENDEAVOR, WE NEED THAT BOOK! GET THAT FUCKING BOOK!
Hawks offers the book to Endeavor, "Well, if you don't have time to read it all, I've highlighted some parts for you so you can just read those parts. It goes with the times!" Then, his expression goes from happy to neutral.
ENDEAVOR, IF YOU DON'T PICK THIS UP, YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE THE NUMBER ONE HERO! NOT THAT YOU DESERVE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE BECAUSE YOU ABUSE YOUR FAMILY, BUT WE NEED THAT FUCKING BOOK!
The two have a staredown for a moment until Endeavor FINALLY TAKES THE FUCKING BOOK! YES! YOU FINALLY DID SOMETHING RIGHT WITH YOUR LIFE, YOU FUCKING COMBUSTION ENGINE!
Hawks keeps a serious face, "Please make sure you read it. You should look over at least the parts that were highlighted. I recommend the second part," Like the flick of the switch, Hawks goes back to normal, "I need to get going! Later Endeavor, Endeavor's students!
Hawks flies off without even letting us respond. Not shocking, but it still feels insulting to my name.
However, that's not what I am worried about.
We finally have something from Hawks! Something about what the hell is going on over there! I may hate that book, but if it has information, I will go on my knees for it.
Endeavor puts the book away and walks off, and we immediately start following him.
I know that this is part of the plan, but Hawks doesn't know about this, as far as I know. I just joined Endeavor in hopes that he finds me since the two work together
It was a huge ass coincidence that he found me the first day, but I will accept it. We NEED it!
With that book, now I need to convince Endeavor to work with me and share it.
...yeah, that's going to be difficult. Not the worst thing I have done, though!
