Chapter 68 - Fucking Brats
"We have safely made it, everyone! Please leave the plane, and I hope that you have a wonderful rest of the day!" I announce from my pilot's seat.
I don't even need a speaker from the cabin to hear the loud groans from it. I am offended because it was a damn smooth ride. I did everything correct.
They are just being whiny little bitches like 1-B.
Anyway, I grab my shit and leave the plane to step onto the relaxing Nabu Island. Looking around, it's beautiful, and it seems like my classmates agree.
"Hey, Izuku! We should get married here!" Ashido quickly suggests as she bounces over to me.
I shrug, "Could be worse. I don't see why not. You don't mean now, right?"
"I need a wedding dress first. You think you can steal some more money from Aizawa-sensei's account to buy one?"
Iida overhears that, "No! That is inappropriate behavior! Izuku should not be doing that in the first place!"
I clear my throat, "If he gives me my damn bank account back, I can buy the dress."
Ashido claps her hands, "Who wants to rebel against Aizawa-sensei until he gives up Izuku's bank account?!"
"I will!" Kaminari pushes.
Ochaco wanders close to me and asks, "If I join, will I get paid?"
I click my tongue, "Depends. If you do something amazing to get him to give it up, I'll pay your rent for a month."
"Add food and we're even."
"That's expensive, though."
"I'm risking my life. This is Aizawa-sensei we are talking about. I'm not his brother. I could possibly die during this." Damn, she called me out.
"Understandable, have a nice day. I'll pay."
"I'm joining!"
Kirishima scratches the back of his head awkwardly, "No offense, bro, but I value my life."
The rest of the class seems to agree with that.
Before we can start planning, a large boom is heard from Bakugo's direction, "CAN YOU LOSERS STOP WASTING TIME?! WE HAVEN'T EVEN GOTTEN TO THE BASE YET, AND YOU'RE ALREADY WASTING TIME."
I huff, "Damn, harsh, but fine. Let's go-"
"NO, YOU AREN'T LEADING US! YOU'LL LEAD US TO THE BOTTOM OF THE DAMN SEA LIKE THE DEKU YOU ARE!"
"Okay, fair. Momo, here," I give her the map and point at where the base is, "This is where we need to go."
Momo looks over the map, "Why is the line coming from the dock if we came here?"
.
.
.
"Izuku, don't tell me we were supposed to take a ship here."
"On my behalf, ships are disgusting." I hear a large protest, but Iida manages to get them back to a decently calm state.
She sighs, "I can work with this. Come on, everyone!"
"What a revelry in the dark." No shit, Tokoyami. No shit.
- - -
It takes us a couple of hours and plenty of pain and suffering since it's kind of hot (or maybe it's just me with Shouta's scarf), but we made it! We are at the hero agency!
Outside the door, an old lady stands with a smile, "Hello, everyone! You kids must be the heroes protecting our dear little town?"
I was going to say something, but Momo stops me by responding, "Yes, ma'am. Class 1-A of UA high is at your service."
"That is wonderful! I appreciate you youngsters coming down. It will ease everyone. I am the mayor of the town, and I am excited to see what you can do." Oh damn, I thought this was just a realtor. I didn't realize this was the mayor!
Iida joins besides Momo, "Of course, miss mayor ma'am! If you ever need assistance with anything, please let us know!"
"Such fine dears. We will. Here is the key at the agency. Feel free to make yourselves at home! Though, I warn you that the place may need some repairs. It hasn't been used in so long." She hands the key to Momo.
Momo smiles back, "That shouldn't be a problem. We will have it up and running in no time!"
"That's good to hear. I wish you children luck!" The mayor bows and leaves.
As soon as she is out of sight, I walk past everyone to the front, pull out a couple of paperclips, and start trying to pick it.
Iida immediately gets to chopping, "That is damaging property, Izuku! We have the key!"
I huff, "I know! But I want to see if this is easy to pick or not. If it is, I'm replacing it because that means anyone can get in," A soft click is heard about a minute later, and I'm opening the door, "We're getting a new lock."
Tsu ribbits, "Aren't you good at lock-picking?"
"I mean, yes, but this is with two paperclips. Someone with a little bit of practice and a lock-picking kit from Amazon can get this with few issues."
Momo pinches the bridge of her nose, "I assume you'll take care of it after we get everything going?"
"Sure! Come on, now!" I enter the building, "Oh boy."
This place is filthy! I can see the dust even if I had Shouta's eyes! And that floor could use a shine and LOOK AT THOSE ANCIENT COMPUTERS!
Momo and Iida come in right behind me, and I don't think I need to tell them that this place is bad.
The rest of the class follows, and we look at the mess we have been shoved into.
Tsu breaks the silence, "It could be worse."
I click my tongue, "Bitch, the only thing that can be worse than this is having nothing at all, and I can probably build something out of nothing, so yes. You get my point."
Kaminari collapses onto the disgusting floor, "I didn't ask for this!"
Jiro kicks him in the shoulder, "Dude, nobody asked for this."
"SO MEAN!"
"This is stupid!" Mineta whines.
Iida chops his arm, "Everyone, calm down! We must be calm and come up with a plan to quickly get this place in operations!"
"YOU LOSERS WORRY ABOUT THAT! THAT'S NOT MY JOB!" Bakugo snaps as he sits his ass on the nearest chair. Such an entitled potato.
Momo looks around, further inspecting the place, "Everything seems together, at least."
I sigh, attempting to clap when I figure out a plan only to remember that I only have on hand once again. Since Aoyama was nearest to me, I snatched one of his hands and used it to clap.
That catches everyone's attention.
I stand in front of everyone, "Alright, everyone, listen up! I'm dividing everyone up into groups. We meet up in two hours and hope that this place is working again by then. Jiro, Shoji, and Koda, I need y'all to go on surveillance at various parts of the islands. This will continue until the systems are up and running. Momo, Tsu, Ochaco, Aoyama, and Sero, go make friends with the town's people. I don't care how you do it as long as we don't go broke from it. Sato, Bakugo, and Kirishima go get food-"
"I AIN'T FOLLOWING ANY OF YOUR DAMN ORDERS, DEKU! MY JOB IS TO KILL THOSE VILLAINS! THAT'S IT!" Bakugo screams.
"I'm about to give you a fucking titty twister if you don't shut the fuck up. If you can't do that, get the hell out and don't come back. I already told you there are no mother fuckers on these islands, so take a chill pill already," I snap. Iida is about to say something, but Ashido signals for him to shut up.
Thanks, queen.
I huff, "Now, before I was interrupted, y'all are going shopping. I'll give you the money for that, Sato. Get whatever the fuck you want. Everyone else, you're with me."
Kaminari and Mineta don't hesitate to scream, "WHY DO WE HAVE TO HELP WITH CLEANING?! WHY CAN'T WE GO WITH THE SOCIAL GROUP?!"
"Because you're both horny perverts, and I don't need your dumbasses ruining our reputation yet."
Ashido struts over to me, resting an arm on my shoulder, "And me?"
"I need someone to rant to or else I'm gonna pop someone. Preferably Bakugo."
She pats my shoulder, "It's okay, dear. I got you."
"Thanks, fam."
"No problem!"
"Alright, so everyone is clear of what they are doing?" Everyone nods, "Very good! And remember to go beyond!"
"PLUS ULTRA!" The class chants.
With that, we get our asses to work.
- - -
One Week Later
UA Agency is in the work, bitches!
The first couple of days was a mix of fixing the damn building and learning about the civilians. That was stressful AF considering I had to use CAT's emergency headphones to communicate across the islands with my fellow dumbasses since we had no other system. This means I had to send out more students than wanted to keep watch on the entire island even with my surveillance team. AKA, less hands for the building, meaning more time than necessary was spent on it.
It doesn't help that Bakugo is being a useless fuck, so we got into some fights over that. He's the entitled kid I did not ask for on this trip, yet here we are.
However, once we got the systems up and going, we were good! Most of our jobs are minor shit such as finding a lost pet or powering a tractor battery, but I am more than willing to take it over villain attacks. Still, knowing our luck, I did spend a few more days setting up my surveillance system across the island so I know what is going on the whole time. Eventually, I did get it done. At times like these, I'm glad sleep is for bitches because it gives me more time to work on it. It's probably not great to work at night, but oh well.
Oh, and I also discovered that Shouta is offering extra credit to those who manage to get me to sleep. Honestly, that's illegal, but it's his class, I guess.
Today is actually the first day where I am not doing technical shit. I am doing hero things like fixing people's internet and cell phones!
Look, we have no villains here. And, for some reason, I am not trusted to talk to the locals, so that's my job. I could be qualified as a tech geek at this point purely from experience. Most of these aren't even huge problems! One lady could not figure out how to turn on her computer! Okay, on her behalf, the power button blended in way too well but damn. I made sure to make it more obvious for her.
Thankfully, most people don't use electronics because they are on an island, so it's a once in a while thing. I can accept that.
I am chilling at my makeshift desk, waiting for my next call when Ochaco answers the phone next to me, "UA agency, how may I help you?...Oh, I'm sorry! Can you give us a name, a brief description of what he looks like, and where you last saw him? Okay, we are getting to it! Please remain in a place where he can find you, please!" With that, she hangs up and looks around the room, "We have a missing boy, brown hair and eyes with a large hat, and seven years old named Katsume. It was his older sister calling. She says she lost him in the shopping district! Who wants to help me find him?"
Jirou stands up, "I'll join you. My quirk can help you."
I hum, "CAT, can you look for young boys with a large hat? Brown hair, brown eyes." CAT meows and gets to work.
Ochaco looks at me surprised, "You can do that?! That's amazing!"
"For the most part, yeah," As I suspect, I get at least ten pictures sent to my visor of seven different boys, "However, since we don't have a picture, CAT is having to look for basics. It found seven matching the description."
"That's still amazing!"
Jirou nods in agreement, "Don't under credit your work, Izuku. It's better than having to search the whole place. Is there a way to limit it?"
"Yip yip! I can watch their behaviors and see how they act. If they act scared or something else, it is safe to assume that's who we are searching for. The DOT system will keep an eye on them until otherwise, "I respond as I get my ass up and zoom to the front door, "Later, losers! I'm finally not fixing shit!"
"Izuku, that is not appropriate-!" I slam the door to avoid Iida's lecture. Like, sir, I don't care.
Peace and silence.
A moment later, Ochaco and Jirou come out with Patchy in tow.
"You really know how to make him shut up, Izuku," Jirou points out.
I shrug, "If I wanted an adult in the group, I would have invited Aizawa."
Both of them shiver, "Yeah, no thank you."
"Y'all have no clue."
Ochaco nods, "Yeah, we don't! Anyway, have you narrowed down the locations?"
"Yeah. Most of them are at the beach, and there is only one at the park nearby of there."
"Cool, so we just need to head there and start looking incase they start moving- oh wait, Izuku will get lost," Jirou decides to helpfully point out.
"Rude bitch."
"You got lost one time on the way to the nearest 7/11 when you only had to walk around the block."
"On my behalf, there was a KFC on the way there. If you expect me to not stop there, we have issues."
Jirou sighs as we make our way to the transportation device, which is a pool tube that Ochaco can make weightless, and, thus, fly with a little help, "Where are we going?"
"I recommend the park first. Maybe the brat isn't me and won't move."
"True."
We all lay on the tube, and with Ochaco's and Patchy's help, we make our way to the park. (During this flight, I also determine that I hate it as I am clinging on with one arm. One wrong move and whoosh to the wind I go!) This park happens to be on a hill nearby the shopping center mentioned. I wouldn't call it a park you would leave your kids at, but more of a viewpoint park where you sit, watch your kids, and hope they don't fall. Romanic destination is what I would call it.
I really am getting off track, huh?
We land on the stairway in front of it, and I recover from the fly first by hopping off, "I'll go ahead!"
I don't hear their responses as I climb the stairs to the top of the hill where the park sits. In the middle of it stands a boy twitching. As soon as I arrive, he looks at me intrigued. Must be him.
Just like the description Ochaco gave me, he's a short little thing with brown hair (hidden by his hat) and eyes. He also has on a white t-shirt with blue overall and sandals.
Time to put Hizashi's forced child training to the test (since apparently it's bad for me to be me around kids)!
I approach the kid with a smile, "Hi hi, are you Katsume?"
"Whoa...a hero..."He responds. I think it's safe to say that this is the kid.
I bend down to his height, "You got lost while you were hanging with your big sis, right? Don't worry, I got lost all the time as a kid. Actually, I still do. Point is, we all get lost. But no worries, you two will be together again faster than you know it! Come on!"
I am going to say that I nailed this one. I even offer my hand to him!
Of course, things aren't going to go that smoothly. Something has to kick my ass. For future perspective, Katsume and I are standing next to a slide.
All the sudden, a young girl's voice screams, "It's about time!" A girl with similar features to him besides wearing pink instead of blue comes down the slide and storms up to me, "What's your name, slowpunk?!"
This girl has the same amount of rage that I do whenever Shouta takes away my sweets. It's concerning.
I stand my grounds, "Heyo, I'm Izuku, and you?"
"I'm Mahoro. Katsume's older sister." Oh boy, it's one of these. Don't bop the child, Izuku.
I look back at Katsume, "You know, I didn't mean it literally, but this works too! I'm glad you found him."
She doesn't seem happy with my response, "What took you so long?!" She pulls out her phone with a timer that says 7 minutes on it, "It took you 7 minutes to find him! You are from the famous highschool hero course, and this is all they after to offer?! If they're going to send us losers like you, we might as well stuck with the old geezer we had! You don't even have one of your arms! How are you supposed to fully do a hero's job if you can't even fully do the job?! Explain yourself!"
Don't bop the child. Don't bop the child. Don't bop the child. Don't bop the child.
"Well, my system, the little robots flying around, had to actually find all that match your description. Then, I had to limit down who it most likely was by watching all of them for a couple of minutes, thus leading me here. I had to actually get here then, and bam bam here I am. As for the whole arm situation, I can have one if necessary for the situation. However, if it is not needed, I'm required to keep it off. Other than that, I can perform my job perfectly fine!"
Mahoro looks so confused, and I am taking satisfaction in it.
Then, she huffs, "You promise to do better next time, Izuku?" If I put a chip in her brother, I definitely will! Other than that, 7 minutes is a really good time either way. I ain't saying that to a kid, though.
"I'll try my best, " I say instead.
"You better. Let's go, Katsume!" Mahoro starts to leave.
Katsume, instead of listening to his sister, approaches me, "Hey, mister?" I bend down to his height again while tilting my head, "Thank you for coming-"
"You don't need to say thank you to him!" Mahoro snatches his hand and storms off with him, shoving her way through Jirou and Ochaco who were coming up.
I stand up and holler back, "No problemo, little dude!"
Jirou looks between the siblings and me with confusion, "What happened?"
"I got lectured by a child for not coming quick enough."
"What? That's ridiculous."
"No shit, I about bopped her. She's testing us, though I guess I can't blame her wholly."
"Huh?"
"She wants to make sure that we can protect her brother, I think. I can't blame her completely for that."
Ochaco smirks, "Because you would do the same thing, Izuku."
"No. I would do way worse."
"It's still a nice thought to be concerned for your sibling like that!"
"Still wanna fight her."
Jirou sighs, "Please don't."
"I only said I wanted to."
"Which means there is a possibility that you will. We know how you work by now."
"I have more self-control than you think."
"Mhm."
- - -
The rest of the day was a chill one for me. I was only required to watch my flying robots and not fight Bakugo. Oh, and boss everyone else around since I am technically the leader, and I'm the only one who can contact everyone whenever I want.
By the time evening rolled around, everyone came back to the HQ tired from their daily tasks.
Then, all the sudden, the whole town showed up with a buffet to show their thanks! IT WAS AMAZING!
I AM NEVER LEAVING THIS PLACE! JUST SHIP MY SQUAD OVER HERE, AND IT WILL BE PERFECT!
After that show, everyone went to bed except Bakugo and I because Bakugo is a lazy piece of shit and sleeping is overrated for me.
And you know what not sleeping leaves me time for? You guessed it: phone calls!
"You should be sleeping, kid," Shouta states through the phone.
"Bitch, you're awake. Shut the fuck up," I promise I am only spitting facts.
"You also probably haven't slept at all since you left."
"Look, sleep is overrated, man. Why sleep when I can call and annoy you?"
"You kill me."
"I kill you even when I am being kind, what the fuck are you talking about?"
I hear him huff, "Yeah."
"I could be worse."
"You have been. But you're getting better."
"But don't you want me to be a bad boy? Heard everyone is going after them these days!"
"I still have your bank account."
"Bad boys don't care. I'll just hack it back."
"Do you really want to deal with the bank?"
"I don't have to deal with them if I am a villain!"
"That is counterintuitive and you know it."
"My life is counterintuitive, sir."
"If you don't hack your bank account, I will give it back when you get back."
"Surely truely?"
"Yes."
"I accept!" I would just like everyone to know that he doesn't. I have to fight for it still.
"DEKU, SHUT UP! I CAN HEAR YOU FROM OUTSIDE THE FENCE!" Bakugo snaps as he returns from patrol.
I just flip him off. He snarls as he goes to the deck for his break.
I can hear Shouta sighing once again, "Bakugo?"
I huff, "Who else?"
"You're someone who pisses off the locals on the daily."
"I haven't done shit like that yet! I've been good! Jeez, if I wanted to be bullied, I would have just joined Bakugo on his patrol."
"Fine, I'll stop, kid. Are you doing alright?"
"I'm good, man. Don't worry about me."
"I always will."
"Why do you never listen to me?"
"I do on logical things. This isn't one of them."
A soft voice interrupts my conversation, "Um, excuse me?" I look to see Katsume. Well, shit. This isn't going to be good.
"I gotta go, Sho. Take care of yourself," I don't bother to wait for his response when I hang up. I smile to the boy, "What's up?"
"Um...well...there's a villain on the loose!"
Now, I don't react much because I have a feeling this kid is lying due to the previous incident.
But Bakugo?
Bakugo runs right up to him and screams, "Where is it, brat?!"
Katsume trembles in his boot as he points, "T-that way."
"Let's go beat his ass!" Bakugo then snatches up Katsume and explodes off. I holler for Patchy to go into wing mode and follow after him, "Deku, what are you doing?! I don't need your help!"
I yell back, "Someone has to make sure you don't kill the kid!"
"I will not! Do you think I am stupid?!"
"Yes!"
"DEKU!"
"FOCUS ON THE MISSION, DUMBASS!" Sorry, Hizashi.
We end up flying to this miniature island attached to the already small island. On it, there is this huge pink mantis just swinging its arms around like it doesn't give a damn.
Quite frankly, it's not doing any damage. It's just minding its own damn business. Bakugo doesn't care though.
He lands in front of the bug and drops Katsume on the ground, "Go hide!"
Katsume runs back, and Bakugo goes to beat it up.
During this time, I land beside Katsume and ask, "This is fake, ain't it?"
He looks at me shocked, "H-how do you know?"
"Kids are predictable. I recommend having waited before your next plan, just saying."
"O-oh."
"Your sister is going to suffer, by the way."
"What?!"
I don't bother to respond when Bakugo blasts his way near its head, "STUN GRENADE!" He creates a huge light, which would stun the creature. However, looking down at the ground, there is no shadow.
I'm intrigued, "Huh, an illusion quirk." Katsume looks shocked that I figured it out so quickly. Bakugo isn't dumb, so he has probably realized it as well.
Bakugo snarls as he lands on the ground. He remains there as one of its claws casually glamp him. I see Katsume beside me panicking for a moment until Bakugo casually walks out. He aims an explosion on the ground to lift everything around him including Mahoro, who lands on her ass.
"Ow, that hurts!" She whines. LOL. Bold of you to assume Bakugo cares.
Bakugo, with his best demon face, approaches her, "You think messing with heroes is some kind of game, huh?! Well, I am no joke, you brat! You are messing with the wrong person! You're looking at the future number one hero, the best of the best! You're wasting my time with this bullshit!"
"Come on, it was scary!"
"OH, I'LL SHOW YOU SCARY!"
Katsume leaves my side to try and soothe the Bakubeast, "S-sir, please be nice to my sister." Wrong move. Bakugo looks back at him, and he squeals.
"YOU WERE IN ON THIS TOO, WEREN'T YOU, PUNK?! WELL, I'LL SHOW YOU A TRUE HERO!"
Yeah, now is my time to interfere. They deserve it, but I can't exactly let Bakugo hurt them. I'm so glad Shouta lent me his scarf. I may not be able to do all his cool tricks, but I can restrain people.
I easily wrap Bakugo up with no issues, "LET ME GO, DEKU!"
"Yeah, no! I don't feel like dealing with a lawsuit because you can't control yourself!"
"DEKU!"
I keep a hold of him until the kids are far out of his sight. As soon as I let him go, he goes in their direction, and I have to follow.
Thank fuck he doesn't actually find them. I just shove Bakugo to bed for the rest of the night and take over patrols.
- - -
Good morning, good morning!
It is business as usual at UA agency. People call us to deal with their bullshit, and we actually deal with it!
It's my turn for patrol, so I get into costume and head out. However, as I am walking, I see Katsume peak around the corner. When we locks eyes, he hides again.
If this ends up being another fake villain thing, I'm dropping out of UA.
Despite not wanting to deal with this, I come around the corner, "Yo, you good?"
Katsume looks up at me, "I-I just wanted to say sorry for last night." I can appreciate that.
I bend down to his height, "It's not a problem. We deal with people like that. May I ask why your sister does this?" I mean, it is a problem. But once again, I ain't saying shit.
"She doesn't like heroes." I don't think that's true, to be honest. I think she's just worried for her brother.
"Okay, and why did you follow through?"
"Um...I wanted to prove that you guys would help..." I'm learning to accept the positives or else I am going to destroy every kid in this neighborhood.
"At least you have faith in us. I'll accept that. You must be a hero fan, huh?"
"Yeah!" Looking over him, I see a little Edgeshot pin on his overalls. I don't know why I am starting this conversation. Maybe I am curious. Well, it's not like I have anything else to do.
"Like Edgeshot?"
"Uh-huh!"
"Can't blame you. He has an interesting quirk and a good reputation. I don't have anything to complain about him. Does that mean you want to be a hero?"
"Yeah, but my quirk isn't very useful for it, and my sister says it's dangerous." Oof. I have been in his position before.
"Kid, your quirk doesn't matter. It's a tool, not a necessity. I'm quirkless, and you see me kicking."
Katsume looks at me shocked, "Really?"
"Yeah. In fact, due to it and my intelligence, I'm farther ahead than my classmates. It doesn't matter what you have. What matters is if you can deal with the burdens of being a hero. It's not easy, but it can be rewarding at times. Basically, you have to have the right attitude for it. If you don't have that, you may have the most powerful quirk in the world, but it's useless."
"Wow...I never knew that."
"Most people don't. Everyone has different viewpoints. For me, I want to inspire people while proving the world wrong about quirkless and some quirked people."
"But don't you have to fight bad guys?"
"Sure, but that's certainly not everything. If it was, there would be fewer issues in the world."
Katsume gives me a smile, "Thank you for telling me!"
"No problemo. Now, you should probably head back to your sister, huh?"
"Oh, yeah! Bye, mister Izuku!" With that, Katsume zooms off.
I stand up, and an older lady's voice interrupts my thought process, "Such a sweet lad, isn't he?"
I turn to face her, "Hi, and yeah." Kind of.
"That's good to hear. I brought everyone these," She hands me leafy greens.
"Thanks!"
"No problem, dear...you will treat the boy right, won't you?"
"Of course! Is there something I should know?"
"Him and his sister lost their mother at a young age, and their father is constantly out for work. The community and I try to watch over them the best we can, but there's only so much we can do." Oh, damn. That has got to suck. No wonder Mahoro is protective of her brother. My mom did the same thing as soon as my sperm donor yeeted himself out of my life.
"Oh boy. We'll help the best we can."
"Thank you. I should probably get going. I hope to see you around!"
"You too!"
I consider going back inside to drop the food off, but I decide to just take it with me on patrol.
During my walk, I get a sinking feeling in my stomach. That feeling of something horrible is going to happen. Gut feeling. I'm not saying mine is the most accurate thing is the world, but it wouldn't come up for no reason, right?
"DOT, pull up all the cameras."
I continue my patrol, watching every camera and my surroundings.
Then, on the beach, a huge ship crashes onto it out of nowhere, and I deny those are sailors.
"GOD FUCKING DAMN IT!"
