Chapter 108 - Finally Awake

"I already told you, Hizashi. We found nothing. We have nothing. You know this better than anyone. We looked everywhere with bare minimum evidence and found nothing."

"And we haven't found anything new?"

"No. It's like they disappeared."

"Damn it!"

"Hey, calm down. I understand your frustration, but it's not going to make things any either."

"I just want him back, Nem! This is just fucked up!"

"I know...I know...we'll get him back. Izuku is way too determined to die. For all we know, he's already out but unable to get to us for safety reasons."

"Yeah...I hope so...is it just me, or did Sho's heartrate suddenly increase?"

"No...Shouta, you awake, man?"

It takes me a moment to get my bearings together considering I just overheard that Izuku is gone. The only thing that is stopping me from losing it is the fact that Izuku probably isn't dead.

Finally, I fill the silence in the room with a rough tone, "Yeah. What were you two talking about?"

"Well, shit," Nemuri curses as I hear her press something. Considering that's the first thing I heard, I consider that an appropriate reaction. "Somebody will be here soon. How are you feeling? You remember?"

"Alive and yes. What happened?"

"Um, how about we wait for the doctor to come by?" How does Nemuri think I am going to let that go?

I give Nemuri an unamused look, "I heard you two talking about Izuku."

"...shit."

Finally, Hizashi says something for the first time, but his tone is so damn hard to hear because it isn't him. He isn't his happy-go-lucky self. Hizashi sounds like someone who has the weight of the world on his shoulders. How a reasonable person should sound in that situation.

"I'm so sorry, Sho. It's my fault."

I hear a whack, "Don't you dare blame yourself, you damn cockatoo. You've done nothing wrong. You did everything you could considering the situation. Besides, by saying that, you're leaving out so much. The dumbass has been asleep the whole time, remember?" Nemuri reasons.

"If I didn't let him go, we wouldn't be here."

"Dude, we both know Izuku would have gone either way. Honestly, I am thankful that you were at least able to be there for him in the first place. He didn't shove you aside, and that's a massive improvement."

"Still-"

"Still nothing."

That's when the door opens and Recovery Girl comes in, "Jeez, I can hear both of your yammerings from outside the hall, " She then approaches my side, "Took you long enough. How are you feeling?"

"Tired but fine. What do I need to know?" I bluntly respond. I prefer not to deal with her at this time, especially when I was just about to learn what happened.

Recovery Girl sighs, "Must you be so impatient? I would think dealing with Izuku would give you some." No. That's not how that works.

"Just tell me what's wrong with me."

"Fine. You came in with after you had your skull smashed to the ground. The good news is that you are not suffering amnesia. It was unfortunately a possibility, but it seems to have been avoided this time. The bad news is that your eyes did suffer. I can only recommend that you never use your quirk again. There was nothing we can do about it. It's honestly a miracle you can still see, even if you may need glasses."

"That's it?"

"Did you gloss over everything I just said, you idiot?"

"No. I just don't see it as significant, especially when I thought I would be here for something worse."

"...whatever. We'll have a doctor come in eventually and get you glasses. Anything you need?"

"Information."

"I'm leaving. I will have a nurse bring water and food in a bit," And with that, Recovery Girl leaves. I am starting to understand why Izuku complains about her. Thankfully, she left, so now I can get caught up.

I shift my head slightly to Nemuri and Hizashi finally to find, to my surprise, Hizashi in a bed with Nemuri sitting between us. From what I can see, Hizashi looks in worse shape than me. That doesn't make sense because Hizashi wasn't on the field the last I remember, but I could be remembering wrong.

"Now can I have answers?" I ask with an unamused look on my face.

Nemuri huffs as she rolls her eyes, "Can't keep anything about Izuku from you, huh?"

"The only person who can keep anything about him is himself, and even he has gotten better at telling me. Stop avoiding the topic."

"Just tell him, Nemuri," Hizashi agrees with a sigh.

Nemuri lays back, any sort of resistance disappearing, "Fine, but I am going to simplify this. You'll figure out the rest later. You've been asleep for two weeks because your head got smashed in, heroes won with Izuku obviously gaining some new trauma that left him hardly able to move, and All for One got out and used Aoyama to get to Izuku to kidnap him. We've been searching for him since."

That just left me more questions than answers. What does it mean that Izuku can hardly move? How did All for One get out? How did Aoyama get used by All for One? What even happened in the fight?

"Why can't you tell me now? It's not like we are doing anything else," I question.

"I should have expected as much...fine. However, you have to promise to stay here until you are good to leave."

"Fine then." Finally. I should not have to fight just to know what is going on.

And they told me everything.

Endeavor is dead, making Hawks the new number one hero.

How Miriko died to protect Izuku.

They told me Izuku gained a quirk, specifically Ragdoll's quirk. Then, because of the quirk, he suffers an allergic reaction that weakens him severely.

Then, they told me the recent events of why Izuku is gone: All for One got out, sacrificed Aoyama, and threatened Hizashi to get Izuku to come with him.

It takes me a while to process everything. I can't even imagine what Izuku is going through right now because I deny he is dead. He's too stubborn, and All for One probably has some use for him somehow. I hate that thought, but it's simply the truth.

I don't know how long it has been when I finally say something, "...I don't blame either of you. You did the best you could. He's probably still alive causing hell somewhere."

Nemuri huffs, "That's strangely optimistic coming from you, but I get what you mean." In the corner of my eyesight, I see Hizashi nodding.

"He would have been dead a long time ago if that wasn't the case. He's out there somewhere."

I am aware that it's illogical to assume that. Based on what I know of Izuku's condition, we don't know how likely it is. However, this is also Izuku. If someone is going to survive this, it's him, and I trust him to do that. As soon as we get any sort of idea of where he could be, we're going after him.

For now, we have other students to take care of and work to do.
