Playing with Fire

A few weeks before school started the L.O.V had gotten more comfortable around the Legions headquarters, more or less anyway. Shigaraki hid in his room refusing to leave unless he absolutely had to. Many of the members of the legion started making side comments about the hand on his face. They would have been met with a dirty glare or worse if it hadn't been for Maria. Dabi, on the other hand, had been with Mara for a majority of their time.

When she was there at least.

The two of them we pretty much attached at the hip. The first morning when Mara had left, she had given Dabi a little note that she put on the bedside table, with a small blue rose attached to it. He hated to admit it, but the small action she did made him smile. Usually, he was the one to bolt first thing in the morning, but Mara had explained she needed to leave and return to her family. Something about a new person coming to live with them and she wanted to be a good host.

It was also time for the Legion to make their yearly appearance In D.C. Shigaraki had left his room and stumbled into a meeting that Terror was holding discussing everyone's plan and their part to play. It was to show the Legion was still alive and ready to fight with a corrupt society of quirks. Dabi had been in that meeting as well, sitting in the back with Onyx who kept pushing her chest against his arm wanting some attention. The plan was simple and quick, with Terror and his sister as the big finish to show their leadership, but he also wanted to add in Dabi and Shigaraki.

"With the League of Villians on our side, we can bring hope to those who are suffering in the quirk dystopia. Bring light to those who are suffering all over the world!" The confidence and power in his voice had everyone in the room fascinated. Dabi could understand why Terror was a leader now. His silver tongue never seemed to turn to lead when he wanted to get his point across and gain support from followers.

Maria was off to the side of her brother, hair hiding one of her eyes as the other searched and landed on Shigaraki. A dust of pink colored her face and she quickly turned away, eyes on the floor. He had noticed her action, making him grimace that she would do such a thing. Girls were something Shigaraki had no knowledge or interest in. They were pointless and a waste of time in his mind. He also couldn't risk accidentally turning someone to ash if he did care for them.

Toga didn't count, she was insane.

He turned seeing Dabi had Onyx drooling over him, her tail swishing back and forth as she whispered in his ear. Normally Dabi wouldn't have cared, he knew some people were into some messed up shit plus, Onyx wasn't bad looking either. Her body was pear-shaped with flawless black skin painted on to it. Her yellow eyes were seductive, yet dangerous. If you stared for too long she'd have you under a spell. She screamed domination something that appealed to most men. Dabi had little to no knowledge of her, but he'd gladly let her be his first.

The only problem was Mara.

She was everything good and it made his heart skip a beat at her attention. He could see the corruption on Onyx, practically smell all the sin she's collected. Mara was innocent. She was kind and caring to everyone in the Legion, even to Shiagaraki. She had brought him to a nicer room not far from hers allowing him a few hours in there to rest and relax before returning him to his little box. She was pure and holy, yet still held a dark side never showing it. Not to him at least and never when he was around.

It was buried underneath her past and toxic upbringing, but it never bothered Dabi to much. He had his past burned to ash and tossed in the wind, completely forgotten about and never to be found again. Both of them had made a bond from spending time on the train to their adventures around the main building. They connected and were similar, but it was going to take a lot for them to trust one another.

Dabi jumped at the feeling of a thin tongue going against his neck before he felt a pair of sharp teeth. His flames ignited, but Onyx was tossed out of her seat to the wall, hitting her head and letting out a cry. Mara stood over Dabi, in wolf form, teeth bared as her snarl grew louder. Her ears flattened back as she stepped closer to Onyx, who had now shifted into a smaller dog like form baring her razor-sharp fangs. Dabi threw a ball of fire at the two in the center getting their attention quickly.

"Ahem!" Terror cleared his throat loudly.

A quick glance and the two dogs turned their heads to the side whimpering. Their tails between their legs, but Mara ran behind Dabi shifting back into human form. He glanced at her smirking as he reached for her hand, gripping it tightly.

"Get. Out." Terror threatened, his voice cold and sending a chill.

Dabi flipped him the bird and raced off with Mara, heading straight to her room. Once inside the pair sat on the bed laughing at what had happened in the meeting room. They made jokes and poked fun at one another, but after a few minutes, they laid down holding one another. It had taken Dabi a few days to be comfortable with Mara's cuddly side. Soon after it became a drug for both of them for different reasons. Mara felt safe and protected in his arms not wanting to be separated from him. Dabi, on the other hand, was touch starved, and having a comforting warmth from another human was addicting. He had never gotten so close to a girl before and after what he did to himself, he figured he'd never get the chance.

"I missed you and your smoky smell," Mara smiled softly as she buried her nose into his chest.

"Well don't leave anymore or take me with you," The pyromaniac responded, petting her ear gently, "I can't handle being in one spot for too long, mutt."

Mara smiled at his words before looking up into his piercing eyes that sent a small shiver down her spine, "I would if I could, Romeo, but I can't exactly bring you home like a stray off the street."

"Your brother doesn't scare me, mutt," He replied tickling her sides getting to squirm under his hold, "If anything he should fear me, I've got his baby sister wrapped around my finger." He purred with a charming smile.

The girl giggled at the attention, her tail wagging a mile a minute. She smirked at his comment with a playful spark in her eyes. She pinned down the older man before nibbling at his neck, careful not to break the purple skin, but enough to get a chuckle out of him. The two went back and forth at pinning one another down, but Dabi had given a little to much force. The playful look in her eyes vanished and her body went stiff, ears flattening. He noticed her sudden change in behavior, quickly letting go of her. He watched her lay on the bed, eyes glossing over slightly as she blinked back tears.

'Shit, what did I do?' He thought before reaching a hand out trying to comfort her.

Mara flinched and backed away from him, teeth slightly bared at him. He retracted his hand away from her, his eyes softening as he sat down near the far end of her bed. Her eyes were shut tightly as her body quivered, the sight made his heartbreak.

"Mara, I didn't-"

"You didn't do anything wrong, I...I got reminded of something." She interrupted him, her eyes to the floor.

Dabi kept his face still as he listened to her words, yet he had a rough idea of why she reacted the way she did to him. He stood slowly and walked to her side, crouching down to her level. Once he approached Mara bit her lip, not wanting to look him in the eye just yet. After a few minutes, she finally looked at him with a sad smile. He sat next to her once she moved over, allowing him to sit next to her. A sigh left her lips as her chin was tilted up so she was staring in his eyes.

"Speak," He used a firm tone keeping her chin in his hand, eyes narrowed slightly.

"Woof," she smirked slightly before moving into his lap hugging his torso, "...I ran away from home when I was about my sisters' age...Edgar was busy with work and well Thea was pretty independent so I left," She rested her head back feeling Dabi's arms wrap around her in a comforting hold, "I ended up in a gang...and I fell for a guy who had some issues, but he had good control over himself."

She shivered when his fingers traced over her skin but she continued, "I was there for maybe a year or so...and it was enough time for me to find out his true colors," her ears flattened as a slight whimper escaped her lips, "He kept me in a room with little food and water...he treated me like a wild animal...but praised and showed me affection when I was good." She sighed hiding her face in his neck.

Dabi held her tightly, a hand running through her raven hair as she curled into his body getting as close as possible. His eyes studied her form as she relaxed into him and it made him wonder how she became comfortable so fast. He tilted her back up rubbing her cheek with his thumb.

"You've got some awful taste in men, mutt," He chuckled as her cheeks puffed and turned pink, but soon a smile appeared making his heart flutter.

"Oh? And what if I find you attractive, Romeo?" She whispered, leaning closer to his face, her eyes half-lidded.

The once pale skin on his face had turned a rosy pink as he leaned in closer to her, his hands moving to her hips pulling her forward.

"I'd say you've got some weird taste," He grinned as he cupped his hand around her cheek, "But I don't find you totally hideous, mutt."

The two had just barely ghosted their lips against one another when the door flew open revealing a pissed-off demon and a blue-haired dino girl. Mara and Dabi turned quickly only to fall off the bed with Mara landing on top of the taller male. Her face was brightly colored like a strawberry when her brother marched over and picked her up by the armpits.

"Blu, take Mara to the lounge," He growled as he cracked his knuckles, "I need to have a talk with Romeo here." His eyes glowed green as he pushed the girls out of the room.

"Well nice to meet you too, sir," Dabi grunted standing up only to be pushed against the wall.

Dabi was considered tall in Japan, but the man that had him pinned against the wall made his blood run cold. Edgar was way taller than him and in his demon form, he now stood at almost 214 cm! (7'0). His horns seemed to be larger while his tail angrily snapped, as a pair of claws dug into Dabi's throat.

"Let me make one thing clear, Dabi, I did a background check on you," He hissed as he tightened his grip against the purple skin, "Stay. Away. From. My. Sister." He hissed and dropped the tiny human to the ground.

Dabi held his neck coughing violently as Edgar left the room, but Mara came rushing in with the blue-haired girl behind her. He had a hard time trying to focus on either of them, but he did feel them pull him on to the bed. He was laid down with Mara cupping her hand around his cheek. He could see her watery eyes and pained expression on her pale face. For a split second, he saw her. The black and green replaced with white and grey, but slowly vanishing into the darkness.

Shigaraki had been out of his room to find the fire user but stopped at the door when he heard yelling. It was Mara and a new female voice he had never heard before. He looked down the hallway making sure nobody was around before putting his ear to the door.

"It wasn't his fault he's trying to protect you,"

"He didn't need to choke him out! He knows how to control that shit he's been with enough people to know!"

"Mara...he just wants to protect you,"

"You have no room to talk! You were with a guy that was like twenty-eight!"

"I was there for his kids that happened to come from my DNA! They were raptors I had to help him!"

"Ugh!"

Shigaraki stepped back from the door after a thud was heard and turned going to search for Marina. He went down into a scanning room seeing her working on the computer and faxing some kind of paper. He took the hand off his face once he approached and she did the same with her mask, setting it off to the side. Her eyes never left the screen, but she nodded letting him know it was fine to speak.

"Something happened between the witch and Dabi, care to explain?" He crossed his arms with narrowed crimson eyes.

"...Spawn must have stopped by," She mumbled turning to look at him getting a slight sneer from him, "He's protective of Mara and well...since she's been so close to Dabi," She sighed leaning back into her chair, "He doesn't like when other males get close to his sisters."

Arms uncrossing he stuffed his hands in his pocket keeping the pinkies out of the hoodie he slipped on.

"Why? They're villains they can handle themselves, can't they?"

"They can...but Edgar knows how scary men can be...Mara and Thea are only here in this world because their father forced himself on to their mothers." She whispered softly and stood from her seat hugging her arms.

Shigaraki's eyes widened at and he simply stood there letting the words register in his mind. He turned to Marina who also stood still, looking at a photo on the wall. It was a younger Marina and Mara standing side by side with big smiles as a string was in their hands. Her lips curved into a small smile as she ran her fingers against the frame of the photo. She then looked into Shigaraki's eyes as her five fingers pressed down on another photo. It was of Marina and her family, turning it to dust. His eyes widened at the sight of ash making him slowly walk backward and a sick smile forming.

"Heh...you remind me of my master...he can take quirks too."

"Look again, Tomura," She smirked as the ash reassembled itself into a photo again, but it looked broken and pixelated, "I don't just take quirks I combine them into one." She put the photo back on the wall before grabbing her mask and putting it back on.

"You're skin...is that why it-"

"Yes, and it gets worse each time I take to many...but after a few weeks the quirks I take go away."

Shigaraki stayed silent as she walked out of the room leaving him in the dark. He grabbed his own hand placing it back on his face. He went back upstairs to see Mara now out in the hallway, her knees against her chest as her head laid down. He stood in front of her, only receiving a low growl when he sat down across from the younger girl. He waited a moment as she seemed to pout before looking up. Her face was red and tears had stained her face with a little snot running down her nose. She rubbed her face before meeting the crimson eyes again, her green orbs bloodshot and glossy.

"Big brothers...I don't get them ya know?" He started resting his arm on his knee.

"You're a self-centered crusty ass, why would you care about my personal life?" She shot back growling.

"Your talent seems wasted here, you might be a commander or whatever but you're treated like a child." He smirked, seeing her ears twitch at his words.

"Get out of my head, you'll get nightmares." Her eyes glowed as a chill went down the male's spine.

He shivered and glared at the girl, but both turned their heads when Blu opened the door. She had a bloody cloth in her hands along with a surgical stapler. Mara stood quickly only for Blu to pull her back growling as her pupils narrowed to thin slits. Mara growled right back, but once she noticed the razor-sharp teeth and raptor legs, she backed off quickly. Blu smiled sweetly after as she tossed the cloth into the trash.

"He'll need a few hours maybe a day, but he'll be ready for when you make your appearance." She chirped with a bright smile.

"You don't attend those? Are you not a true member of the team?" Shigaraki spoke up as he looked to the girl.

With a shake of her head, she giggled cutely before speaking once again, "I'm only seventeen, silly, I still have to go to school," She smirked as she turned to Mara poking her nose, "Unlike some people who drop out."

Mara chuckled as she wrapped an arm around the shorter girl playing with her pigtails. The two of them left and Shigaraki left a moment after going back to his room. So far these girls were amazing fighters and had a unique set of skills. He wanted them on his side for his own purposes, but they seemed to be attached to this Legion. With his head on his pillow, he thought about how he could convince Terror's followers that joining the League of Villians was a better choice. Mara would be easy if Dabi helped, Blu and Marina it would take a while, but Onyx. When he had found out about her being Kurogiri's daughter it raised a number of questions. Why was she never mentioned? Did he not know she existed? Why did she seem to hate him? Question's he was never able to get answered, but soon he would get them.

By any means necessary.
