Moving to America: Iida

"Tenya Iida?" A woman with long silver hair done into a zig-zagging braid with shells mixed into it walked up to Iida smiling softly.

Iida looked up from his book when he heard his name being called and he stood now seeing the Peacemaker, Siren, standing next to him with a girl about his age standing by her side. He closed his book and stood prepared to bow, but he then reached out his hand instead, remembering that Americans greet one another with a handshake and not by bowing. Siren smiled taking his hand giving him a firm shake then she looked to the girl beside her.

"Go on, say hello." Siren encouraged with a soft smile while placing a hand on her shoulder.

The girl from behind Siren stepped out with her long ocean green curly hair covering her white-framed glasses. She looked up at Iida saying a quick hello then looking to the ground and hiding back behind the hero.

"Do excuse her, she's shy about boys," Siren explained then looked to Iida then his bags, "Do you need help with your bags? I can help you." Siren offered while she noticed Iida was looking at the girl still.

"No, no! Please, I've got them! Besides, it would be rude to have a lady carry my belongings." Iida answered then grabbed his things dropping a few of them towards the girl with green hair.

The girl looked up giggling a little then she looked towards a water fountain raising her hand with water slithering out and taking the bags from Iida. She looked up towards him then took about three steps back so she was further away from him. Iida was shocked at the girl's power staring in awe at how simple it was for her to use her quirk and all to just help him. He smiled slightly at her then stood tall telling her a thank you and explaining to her that she didn't need to help him.

"I-I don't mind...besides...a hero helps those in need, right?" She asked then showed him a very tiny smile then looked back to the ground with her bangs covering her face.

"I will remember this act of kindness then! Thank you!" He beamed with a smile on his face. It was gone when he noticed how the girl started shaking and she hid behind Siren like a child would when they were scared of something. He stepped forward trying to apologize to her, but the girl wouldn't listen and she just ran outgoing towards a nice car, but she quickly put the bags away then got in sitting in the very back. Iida looked to Siren with a confused look on his face as he watched the Peacemaker just look at the car with disappointment filling her eyes.

"Come, it's early and you probably want to get settled in at the house." Siren proposed and turned walking to the exit of the building.

Iida nodded following her while he looked back to Midoriya who was chatting to a girl with light brown hair. He smiled once more then took off towards the car Siren stepped into, but he sat in the middle away from the green-haired girl. He didn't want to pester her or make her upset so he just left her alone, but he did steal a few quick glances at her from the side of his eye. While being in the car, the girl did finally start talking to Iida explaining to him that she wasn't used to males so she was pretty nervous about talking to him.

"It's quite alright, miss. I was a bit overwhelming and I was told you were shy so I shouldn't have been that loud." Iida explained while he gave her a soft smile to try and gain a bit of her trust.

"I'm sorry for running off like that...males are kinda few for me...my family is mostly made of girls, I went to an all-girls school, and I'm only allowed to be friends with girls." The girl explained, but when she got to the last part she glared at Siren, who only chuckled.

"Is your father not around then? The website I used to look at information about the Wells family only showed Siren and a few of her older children." Iida asked while turning a little in his seat.

Before the girl replied to him she unbuckled and moved seats sitting next to him now. She pushed her hair out of her face seeing Iida with a shocked expression making her head tilt to the side. She covered her mouth when Iida scolder her about getting up when a car was moving with his arms going back and forth. She couldn't help herself and started laughing so hard tears formed in her eyes and her sides started to hurt.

"Haha! Okay! Okay! I'm sorry! Hehe, I won't do it again, Iida," She giggled then she quickly held out her hand giving him another tiny smile, "I'm Marina, and my mom's name is Serina." Marina said with a light blush on her face as her bangs covered her eyes slightly.

Iida nodded with a slight smile then took her hand carefully, but when his skin made contact with her's he was very surprised at how smooth her hands were. He studied how her skin was sun-kissed and flawless, she smelled like the ocean breeze and coconuts and her eyes, they were big pools of ocean green seawater behind white-framed glasses. Iida would be lying to himself if he said she wasn't breathtaking, but he had no idea how to explain that to her without sounding like a complete fool.

"Now, to answer you're the question from before," Marina started before she paused and pushed her hair to the side, "My dad...wasn't the best person...he got into a lot of trouble and well...one day he just didn't come back at all." She explained and stared out the window with a dazed look in her eye. "He loved the sea...not us."

Iida frowned, he mentally slapped himself for asking such a rude and blunt question. He had no intention of opening old wounds so he placed his hand on Marina's shoulder with a determined look on his face.

"Forgive me, I may not know much about you, but I can tell you're a strong and capable woman," He started and placed his other hand on her shoulder so she was holding eye contact with him now and said, "I, for one, think he's missed out raising the beautiful and kind young lady you are."

Marina looked at the Iida with her eyes shining as he spoke, it made her heart pound so fast she was sure she might pass out. She quickly hugged him before letting go and giving him an awkward smile. Iida's whole face turned pink and a goofy grin appeared on his face as he looked at Marina. For the rest of the ride, the two went on and on finding out things they liked and disliked, if they had an interesting hobby, and of course their family. Iida even told Marina about how he and his friends took down Stain which had the girl on the edge of her seat gasping and becoming very worried, but she was glad when he told her about how he was taken to the hospital and treated.

"I still need surgery on my hand, but I'll do it when I earn the hero title." He explained while a proud smile appeared on his face as he looked to his hand.

"I'm sure you'll get there, Iida! If you want later today we can spare at the beach." Marina offered as the car pulled into a driveway with a big beach house and the two teens got out grabbing Iida's bags.

"I would like that, thank you, Marina." He replied as they approached the door and walked to an open room with a color scheme of teal, cream, and white.

Together, the two teens unpacked Iida's bags and began organizing his books, clothes, all of his extra glasses. A couple of times they got into a small argument about where they should set up the items, but it usually ended with both of them making a compromise. It took a total of four hours, but they had managed to get it done to Iida's liking so they both sat down on the bed talking about what the school year would be like.

"Training is pretty difficult, but it all depends on with the group you get placed in and with the trainer you get, " Marina answered as she turned towards Iida with her eyes sparkling a little.

"Why do they put people into groups? Does the class not train together?" Iida questioned.

"No, the school divides it based on how you're power is and if they think you can go in with the quirks that can kill pretty easily." She explained, but she noticed how Iida became tense as the word kill.

"The student's hurt each other that badly?"

"Somebody died last year because of a kid with a brawler quirk, he hit the guy on the side of the head and it was like a light bulb." She told him then she stood up walking to the light switch. "One second, they're standing there alive and then the next," she flicked the switch off and looked towards him, "then lights out."

Iida felt his blood run cold and he shivered at the thought of students killing one another. He looked to Marina who had sat back down on his bed and took out her phone while pulling out her camera and leaning on Iida with a smile on her face. Iida grew confused, but he quickly smiled towards the camera while Marina snapped a picture and sent it to somebody.

"What was that for?"

"My sister wanted to see you so I took a picture of both of us."

"Ah."

The two became silent for about thirty minutes before Iida turned to her with a question popping into his head. He had wanted to ask about this beforehand, but he was distracted with unpacking so he figured now was the best time to ask her since they had both stopped talking for so long.

"What's your quirk?" Both of them had asked at the same time making them fall silent again before Marina giggled then asked him again while running her finger in her hair. Her hand got stuck halfway threw and Iida had to help her get it unstuck making him laugh as it took a little time to get her hand out of her hair but in the process, his own hand's got stuck in her hair. The two looked at each other and started to snicker, but it turned into more laughing as they ended up having one of Marina's sisters untangle them.

"This wouldn't happen if you stayed out of the ocean for an hour." Her sister sighed as she put away her special brushes and combs.

"I hate taking care of my hair! Why would I half to worry about if your job is a hairstylist!" Marina argued and crossed her arms glaring at her sister.

"Because you're almost sixteen years old and I'm moving in a few weeks to go live with Brock!" Her sister yelled back while giving the same glare to her younger sister.

Iida was completely by now as he listened to the two females argue and bicker at each other. He had seen the girls at school usually get along and there weren't too many fights, but this was something he really didn't want to get into. He tried to picture how Tensei would since Iida had seen him break up two girls fighting once or twice. He stepped forward placing a hand on Marina's shoulder giving it a light squeeze to get her attention. It seemed to work since Marina became silent and blushed a bright red looking down at the floor while playing with a string on her shorts.

"Aww, does the fishy princess have a nerdy boyfriend?" Her sister teased with a playful smirk.

Both of them turned beet red and started yelling about how they weren't a couple and Marina even chased her sister out of the room down to the beach. Iida sighed in frustration and pinched the bridge of his nose while closing his eyes tightly. This was indeed going to be a long year for him as the only girls he ever really grew close to were his mother and Uraraka. He walked back to his room taking out the laptop he packed and started to do some research on girls trying to find ways to calm them down, keep them killing one another, and most importantly how to deal them when they were yelling at you. He spent a good few hours in his room trying to find what he could, but he found little to nothing at would help him.

"Why must female's be so difficult?" He sighed writing down another note.

"Hey, Iida? We're going out to spare now you wanna come?" Marina asked leaning against the doorway.

"Yes, just give me a moment to change and I-" Iida's jaw hit the floor when he saw Marina. She stood in a ocean green bikini top with a pair of white ripped shorts that hugged her hips nicely that were zipped up about halfway, but unbuttoned still showing that underneath was the matching ocean green bottoms. The top of the bikini was shaped into seashells decorated with a few gems while the bottoms had a mermaid scale design.

"Iida? Everything ok?" Marina asked and stepped closer to him while putting her hair up in a ponytail.

Iida's face turned beet red and he suddenly felt a liquid running down his face tasted iron. His eyes widened and he covered his nose quickly and stood up so fast the chair fell back as he tried to find a tissue or cloth to stop the bleeding.

"Oh my gosh! Are you ok?" Marina ran into the bathroom grabbing a box of tissues and running back to him.

Iida took the box from her trying to stop the bleeding from his nose, "Y-Yes, I'm fine...I-I'll be out in a moment," He reassured her trying to keep his eyes trained on her face, instead of wandering down her body. "Um, Marina...i-is that really the best thing to work out in? I-I mean there isn't much support." He asked now wondering why she was wearing something so revealing for workout purposes.

"Because when I get into the water my tail destroys any clothing I have on," Marina explained as she pointed to her legs which had a very thin layer of scales.

Iida's eyes widened as he now noticed the scales now then he looked back up at Marina. He had about a thousand now, but his biggest question was how did she plan to fight when her clothing would be gone. Was her hero costume made of something that couldn't be destroyed or was it very easy to take off so the clothing wouldn't rip? Then his question turned to her quirk wondering what exactly it was.

"If you get a tail and control water what quirk do you have then?" He questioned placing his hand on his chin.

"Oh, it's called Hydromermaid," She explained with a smile as she waved her hand threw the air taking the water out of air forming it into a heart, "I'm able to...well almost anything with water...I think, but when I get into any type of water my legs form into a tail." She then took the water heart and cooled it down so it froze. She took Iida's hand placing it in his hand then looked up at him with a light dust of blush covering her face. "I'll let you get dressed." She told him then walked out of his room closing the door behind her.

--------------------Small Timeskip------------

'WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME!' Iida screamed in his mind as his face was bright red. Twelve girls in bikinis stood around him stretching or gossiping about something Iida had no interest in hearing. He wanted nothing more than to just go back inside, but he needed this training before the new school year started. He watched Marina who was doing high skips and high knees up and down the beach far away from the water and the rest of her sisters.

"Okay, girls! Everyone warmed up?" Serina asked with a smile as her daughters and Iida answered then they headed into the water swimming out quite a ways from the shore towards a floating walkway.

They began with spiderman crawls around the board, then pool planks, and then fly-backs. After an equal amount of each, they switched to being able to hold their breath under the water, while holding a heavy object to keep them on the ground of the ocean. They switched to working on their legs and arms then floating with the ocean current. After about an hour or so the sun had set and everyone was sitting on the walkway drinking some water and eating some fruit.

"So Iida, do you have a girlfriend back home?" One of the girls around ten years old asked while drinking some water.

"I do not, my studies and training are what's most important right now." He answered while smiling at the younger child.

"...Marina! He's single!" The child yelled startling everyone around her as a coupled of girls busted up laughing while some of the older girls looked to Marina.

Marina's face turned bright red and she was suddenly grateful that it was sunset so couldn't see her pink face. Her mermaid form changed her appearance a bit as her hands became webbed, her ears changed as well also having webbing, and more scales showed covering her breast and spots around her stomach.

Iida looked towards her as a bit of blush covered his face as well while a small smile graced his lips. He looked away watching Serina and her younger children playing in the water, but something caught his eye. His eyes squinted his eyes spotting a few fins in the water and the girls took notice starting to scream getting Serina's attention. Marina looked back once she heard the screaming and went underwater spotting about four of five sharks swimming around the the walkway. Serina yelled and helped get her children out of the water, but one of them had slipped cutting their hand getting blood into the water. The sharks got closer when the blood reached their nose's and they started to bump into the walkway throwing everyone around causing a few girls to fall into the water.

Screaming and cries filled each other's ears and each was thrown into the water and trying to get back on the walkway. Iida stood to grab one of the girls and threw her back on the walkway, but in the process, he fell into the water falling right next to a shark that turned bit his arm. He grunted and punched the shark in the nose a few times trying to get it to let go. The water went from blue to crimson as the rest of the sharks swam over going to bite at Iida's limbs, but they were suddenly pushed away by a force of water. Iida looked next to him seeing Marina, but she now looked different than from before. The iris of her eye wasn't circular anymore, but more like a slit while the white had changed to red, her nails had grown into sharp claws and when she opened her mouth fangs replaced her canine teeth. Iida's eyes widened as she suddenly swam forward using her tail and ripping the shark off Iida's arm. She hissed at the shark then flipped it on its stomach using her claws to rip apart its stomach then she sent another wave to the sharks sending them flying away from the walkway.

Iida stayed still but then swam up using his other hand as he tried to swim back to the walkway. He got about halfway, but suddenly his leg was grabbed and he was pulled back into the water screaming out one help before the water of the ocean swallowed him. He looked back seeing Marina had grabbed his leg and hissed at him as she used her claws while swiping at his throat. He started to panic since he couldn't use his other arm because he was losing a lot of blood and it hurt greatly to move, but he did still have his legs. He was able to swing his leg back far enough and use Recipro Burst to kick her off sending her far away from him. He quickly used the time he bought himself and swam to the walkway being pulled out of the water.

"Iida!" Serina yelled running over to him as she looked at his arm and the rest of his body. She yelled for one of her daughters to heal Iida while she quickly jumped into the water disappearing in the blood mixed water.

"Why did Marina attack me?" He asked while wincing in pain as one of the girls used her quirk and some freshwater to heal the wound.

"It's the downside of her quirk...a mermaid's main purpose is to drown people...when Marina smells blood in her mermaid form she becomes...well...a monster." The girl answered.

Iida's eyes widened as he looked at the blood-filled water swirling around as he thought about Marina and how shy and sweet she was when they first met, but now he didn't know how he felt. He thought back to when he started to bleed from his nose and instead of her freaking out and yelling at him she offered to help him and wanted to make sure he was okay.

'She's not a monster...she's different."
