I hear him mumble irritably "Such a careless person, can't even do a simple task carefully. How is she going to handle a kid, poor kid".

when I listen to it I get so furious that I instantly stand up and stride towards him and ask. "What? what did you just say?"

He gazes at me making me feel as if I'm smaller than him and angrily reply, "oh now you can't even hear properly."

It was not a question, rather a statement.

Now I'm fuming, he knows that and with a smirk further add, "I think you should  Probably consider a psychiatrist, It would be very beneficial ".

I don't know what came into me that I just tossed all the used napkins in my hand on him and it tinged his multi-dollar shirt. It is very satisfying to watch his expression turn from amused to confused to angry to furious.

"Oops! maybe I do need a doctor," I say with bogus innocence.

He is about to reply when "Paakhi what did you do? Oh, I'm sorry sir I apologize for this... " Maanu come rushing in between us and apologize to him.

He is about to reply when I cut him in between and say "Hey! But I didn't do it intentionally." I notice people around us looking and murmuring,

Shortly my senses awaken and I feel embarrassment rush through me.

So before any more damage can come to our company's reputation I look at him and murmur, "I'm sorry sir but I just slipped and came crashing onto you" with a scared expression on my face so that people can see what a bully he is but internally I'm smiling.

He is more furious now.

"People like you are unethical and liars. I don't even know why are you still in the business when you can't even take care of these little things... I ha--" he was cut in between by Mrs. Shekhawat who came rushing towards us and let out "Viren! what are you doing? you scared her!" she then turns towards me "Paakhi dear it's okay!it's just a mishap. Why don't you go and serve cake for everyone? "  I once again apologize in trembling voice to portray my fake nervousness and rush towards the house to go to the kitchen.

All the while smiling at his red face.

Maanu follows me inside and starts lecturing me. I hear her because I did make a mistake but in her haste of scolding me, she said something that made us both halt, "What happened to you Paakhi? You never behave like this with anybody. It was like those days when you used to be so jolly and played pranks on Ra.. "

"STOP !" I cut her in between and she stiffens when she comprehends what she said and before she can say anything else I scurry outside towards the main gate, not the garden.

I'm unable to hear anything other than his laugh. His memories start resurfacing making it difficult for me to hold myself. Tears are seeping from my eyes as if someone had left a tap open.

' I can't think about him. Especially not now..... ' I mumble again and again.

I try relaxing with few deep breaths 'He would want you to be smiling when you think about him. So stop crying...' I say to myself and walk inside the kitchen to find Maanu nowhere.

Before I can think more, I witness my staff lagging so I leave everything for later and start helping them with his thoughts clouding my mind.

'I can't ruin Pari's B'day party.' With this thought in my mind, I get lost in my work.

MAANYA's POV

I stiffen when I realized what did I say to Paakhi.
I didn't mean to upset her. But words just came out of my mouth.

 I regret hurting her now.

I was about to follow her when uncle Abby asks me to check everything outside. If someone needs a refill or something.

I'm contemplating about going after Paakhi or going outside to see if everyone got the cake, but later realize that we have already created a scene outside and now I should probably focus on this event.

After checking everything outside and chatting to some guests I'm returning to the kitchen when something crash into me out of the blue and it causes me to lose my footing and tumble over, but just like in movies two strong arms support me and prevent my fall.

I know it's cliche but thankfully someone supported me otherwise this fall would have badly bruised.

I open my eyes hastily not slowly because I need to make sure not some creep has me in his arms.

But what I glimpse at is far from a creep. I see a pair of beautiful blue eyes that I have ever seen staring back at me.

These eyes are as if I'm drowning in the sea of oblivion.

I begin my journey from accessing his eyes to his cute crooked nose and then his rosy puffy lips come into view.

Beautiful...My heart whisper.

Or maybe not, because those beautiful puffy lips carve into a smile making me realize I said it out loud.

I mentally smack myself causing me to come out of my la-la land and focus on reality. 

Immediately I stand up on my legs and straighten up my clothes all the while trying to overlook his engaging glance.
