Chapter 10

After locking the door I turned and Jason was standing a little to close to me.  It caught me off guard and I jumped back a little.  ‘Sorry’ was all he said. 

Why was he standing so close to me?  I didn’t know and I didn’t understand all the feelings I had, I knew he was good looking, but still.  Laura always went into great details about love and how it felt.  I had butterflies, my hands were sweating and my heart would beat fast when we were looking at each other or if he was close to me.  He now knew things about me, not everything but it didn’t seem to bother him, yet I didn’t know anything about him.  How could I maybe like someone, and yet not know anything about them.

‘Water?’ I asked him.  ‘Not right now, but thanks’ he said.

I nodded and went to sit on the couch, as he followed.  I knew this would be a good time to talk to him.  I wanted to know him, and I was pretty sure he wanted to know more about me.  I could tell from our previous conversations he didn’t want to talk about his past but neither did I.  If we wanted to be anything, even friends, real friends, we didn’t have to lie to each other.  I liked that idea, no lies just honesty.  To have someone know the real me, not some story I invented and saying that my life was great all the time, when it wasn’t.

I didn’t know how to bring any of this up.  I looked all over the room until I was looking into his green eyes.  Wow, was all I thought.  I looked away, I needed to concentrate and looking at his eyes would not help. I cleared my throat and said ‘So… where did you grow up?’

He raised his eyebrow and the corner of his mouth went up, was he smirking at me?!?

‘Here’ he said, with the smirk on his face.

I looked around the room again, maybe to come up with a better question, of course I knew where he grew up, Chris had told me this when we started being friends.  No wonder he looked like he was enjoying himself.

‘What is your favorite movie?’ I asked him.

‘I have more than one but there’s not bran new. I really like Scarface, Son in Law, Zoolander, Hackers, and the list goes on.'

‘Wow!  Zoolander is my favorite movie, some people don’t like it, but I do.  Laura has it and when she lets me choose the movie, that’s what I pick.  She’s not a big fan of it though.’  I said.  ‘I love going to her house, some Saturdays we watch movies, like the whole day.’ I laughed.  ‘It’s fun cause I don’t get to do that here.’ I looked at Jason and he looked back and said,

‘What is this?  A center for ants?’ he said and trying to copy the voice of Derek in the movie.  I laughed, he had Derek Zoolander voice pretty good.

Ok, this question was gonna be tough, so I had to say it fast.  You know like taking off a band aid.

‘Ok so why do you hate the color orange? And well your Jail comment when you walked me home yesterday caught my attention.’ I asked trying to not look at him directly.  I was nervous, maybe I asked to soon.  Would he just get up and leave? 

‘You’re curious,’ he gave me a small smile, ‘but you do have the right to know, I am a guessed in your home.’ He said looking at me.  The smile he had not one minute ago was no where to be seen.  I started to wish I hadn’t asked that.  But I did have a right to know, that was true.  Was he a murderer, a rapist, did he steal or something to do with drugs?  Well there wasn’t much to steal here…  I had all of these thoughts going through my head.
