Sofias POV:

A pair of shuffling feet were heard and as I looked up, astonished dark brown eyes met mine. I smiled at her meekly and waved. “Hello Vivian."

She sat down speechless and the big scary looking guard told her with a menacing voice that she had not much time for this visit. She nodded and looked back to me.

I glared at the guard, staring straight at his black eyes seeing that he was right next to us as if our bodyguard. “With all due respect, there's this thing called privacy." I retorted sarcastically.

The muscles on his jaw twitched and tightened while nodding. Then, he walked away leaving the two of us with an awkward vibe. Her orange outfit was fitted loosely and it was obvious she's lost a couple of pounds since the last time I saw her. Her once long black hair was cut up to her shoulders managing to still look good. Also, Vivians face where once were lively with a baby face was now all tired with hollow cheeks and black rings under her dull dark eyes. Even her smile was flaky and weak. I almost can't recognize her.

“Why are you here?" Vivian croaked. Sadness was resembled in those dark depths of her eyes.

“My visit is something you do not desire at all, I know. But I just need to say something." I said fidgeting with my hands looking at the floor. Vivian cleared her throat and said with her sweet voice.

“Please do say what you want to say." I placed my hands on the steel table and looked straight at her.

“I just wish to say I am sorry. I'm sorry for putting you to jail, confessing what you did and separating your family. I never forgave myself. Seeing Hunter so broken made me feel so guilty. I'm sorry Vivian. What you did was wrong of course, but still. I'm the monster, the bee-atch who opened her mouth. You guys could've been happier and together if it weren't for me." My voice was cracking and I miserably tried clearing my throat but when I saw Vivians eyes, they were also glassy.

She enveloped my hands in hers and squeezed them tightly while leaning closer to me whispering. “Don't feel guilty. What you did was right. I know that what I did was wrong. As for the separation of my family, well I have my husband visiting me almost everyday. So don't worry. I'm fine." She smiled warmly at me while I sat there not believing what she said.

“You weren't supposed to be here such a long time Vivian. Why has your time been prolonged? Also, don't lie. I know you wish to see your kids. I know you're lying about being fine. This is a living hell. You wish to be right now next to your kids embracing them and telling them just how much you love them. I know that you wish you had your family again. Vivian, I'm not dumb." She stared at me with no expression whatsoever but after a minute or so she cracked a small laugh.

"So, you'll be flaunting now all the things I want, huh? Sofia, I won't lie to you. I do wish my family were right here next to me, I'd be cooking right now some spaghetti which is Hunters and Jacobs favorite and later on making a special dessert for my hubby that makes them all happy." She sighed and shifted a bit, looking at me steadily. “Nothing was your fault. Keep that in mind. You don't have to come here apologizing. As for why my time has been prolonged, well."

She slid her hands out of their captive hold on mine and slouched at her seat looking around all the people having their visits.

“I was supposed to meet Miguel, my husband that day were I was free. And since that was my first crime, I was out of charges. However, I went crazy when I knew since the very morning I woke up and got out of jail that it was my little boy's birthday. Hunter very much loved necklaces, but the antique sort of looking ones, you know the pendant that held two pictures?" She gulped visibly. I nodded at her when her gaze came to me fixedly. “I wanted my son to forgive me. I wanted to get Jacob something too, it was a watch, a simple watch that was by the brand Cartier."

“Did Miguel pick you up when you got out?" She shook her her head and let out a sigh.

“I was supposed to wait for him but I got desperate. I knew the prison wasn't far from the city so I decided to get for my boys their gift. I went straight to the store Cartier and saw the hush money I needed to actually buy anything, even a pen. So, I,"

“You tried to steal it?" I asked in a hushed voice.

Her dark eyes turned slightly red and a tear slid out. “I didn't mean to! I just desperately desired my sons forgiveness and them back. And I was succesful the first time, I got the pendant that Hunter wished and I called Miguel saying this kind man gave this to me as a gift. He knew I was lying but didn't say further in the matter and put it safely tucked on his jacket pocket. Next, I needed that watch. It was tricky getting that pendant but since it was on display somehow nobody noticed. However, the second time getting the watch was too hard. Thankfully, the watch was also on display but nevertheless I got caught when I was placing the watch on my purse. It was a foolish thing to do. But, I just wanted my sons to forgive me and I wanted family back!" She was bawling now with tears streaming down those hollow cheeks.

Suddenly the dark tall mean guard came and told Vivian in a harsh tone that visit hours were over. “I understand Vivian. You'll get that back. You'll get your family back."

“How?" She sniffles and wiped away the tears out of her now puffy face.

“I'm going to get you out of here. Don't worry. I have a good lawyer and he'll get you out of here in two days. So hold on tight, you'll get out soon and have your family, okay?" She didn't look convinced but still she threw my way a faint smile.

“You are an angel. You really are, sweetie." She gave me a peck on my cheek and this warmed me inside. I yearned all of a sudden for my mother. It was sad that my mother was dead after so many years. Twelve years have passed and my father died out of a heart attack when I was 19.

I bid her farewell and immediately made the calls to my attorney and he promised exactly what I promised her. In two days she would be out.
