Knock. Knock. Knock.
I flinched at the sound of my hand as it hit the coffee coloured door of the headteacher's office. The lady from before had dropped us off there then made her way to wherever she had to go. I suppressed a gulp I had rising up in my throat, though I didn't know what I was so afraid of. Victoria didn't look that peachy either and I could see the look of anxiety on her face while we both stood there in anticipation waiting for those two words.
"Come in."
I felt my heart jump a little, I knew I was overreacting, but wouldn't anyone be at least slightly intimidated if they knew they had to see the headteacher for something as serious as physical abuse?
Taking a deep breath, I opened the door. Inside was Micheal with David and Joseph all of whom were sat down in 3 chairs provided on the left-hand side of the room. I looked over, there were two empty spots on the right-hand side with Mr. Thornhill in the middle. I gulped and Victoria avoided the glances coming our way.
Micheal was sitting in the chair closest to us, he had a bandage around his gut which he was holding with his hands and it looked like it hurt, a lot. He was putting on a neutral face, trying to appear calm and composed but the second I looked in his direction everything about him screamed I'm pissed.
David appeared equally as mad but unlike Micheal, he wasn't even trying to hide the fact that he probably wanted to punch me. Joseph, on the other hand, I couldn't quite figure out and if he was feeling any hate towards me, he was doing a good job of hiding it. His face stayed straight the whole time but his eyes sometimes wandered around as if he was lost in thought. I often wondered why he hung out with Micheal and David, he rarely spoke and when he did it was a phrase at a time. The whole prince thing didn't look like his scene, but he was known for being the strong, silent type of the group.
"Mr. Carter, Ms. Williams," Mr. Thornhill nodded his head towards the both of us, "Glad you could finally make it, please take your seats." With that, we both quietly sat down.
"So regarding the incident that happened during period 4 today." Mr. Thornhill began. "I have heard the story from both sides and from what I've been told it happened something like this." He continued. "Micheal was being followed by his group of... Well, let's just called them friends for now. They were walking or rather bombarding through the corridor like a pack of buffalo." He glared over at the trio.
"They do get a bit out of hand sir, but I don't control what they do and don't do, sorry," Micheal smiled all disgustingly cheerful and I stared at him because he knew full well if he told those mindless slaves of his to jump off a cliff, they would.
After clearing his throat, Mr. Thornhill continued, "Anyway, as they were running their rampage in the hallway Josh and Victoria happened to be passing by and your crowd of people trapped them inside." He pointed at the three of them and Micheal just shrugged. He was either brave, cocky or both because no one had the audacity to do that to the headteacher.
Mr. Thornhill looked as if he was ready to give him a piece of his mind, but for once he didn't shout, he just sighed impatiently and continued. That was a bit of a surprise since Mr. Thornhill never held his temper for anyone, something felt off.
"Apparently as they were trying to find a way out of the mob they ended up getting to the centre of it instead. Now this is where there was conflict, Josh says you picked a fight with him, is this true?" Mr. Thornhill questioned Micheal.
"Yes, and if I had known he was gonna do this to me over something as petty as that I would have happily done a lot more." He glared at me again and rubbed his bandage.
"Well, I'll happily give you another kick but this time, maybe I should rearrange your face for you since it couldn't possibly get any uglier." I sneered.
"What do you think you are looking at a mirror?" David all of a sudden spoke as he laughed back sarcastically.
"And who was talking to you?" I said through my gritted teeth.
"Josh, don't," Victoria whispered while grabbing my arm. I looked at her again and she shook her head. She was right, I couldn't let my emotions get the better of me, which was a shame because I was just about ready to give Micheal and David each a blow to the groin.
"You're so pathetic. Your girlfriend has to hold you back and fight all your battles for you." Micheal snarled.
"What are you on about now, what are you getting at?" I clenched my fist.
"Think back who was it that stood up for you when you couldn't do it yourself, who made friends with you when no one else would, who was there to help you when pathetic little Josh couldn't help himself?"
"Shut up!" I shouted.
"Both of you be quiet! In case you happen to have forgotten, I'm still speaking so I'd appreciate it if you both could calm down!" Mr. Thornhill boomed at us and we both went quiet.
"As I was saying, you all began having some sort of argument in which Micheal, only God know why, kissed Victoria, am I right?" Mr. Thornhill said.
"Yeah," Micheal smirked then turned and winked in Victoria's direction making her turn her head away, and her cheeks turn a light shade of pink.
"You're disgusting you know that? Victoria isn't just another one of your little playthings, she's a person, not a doll and if you come so much as a metre near her with those grubby hand of yours then I'll pound your face in. Got it?" I gritted my teeth.
"Why do you care, she's not even your girlfriend, you said so yourself. If I want to hit on her it doesn't concern you. It shouldn't matter to you if I have a bit of fun with her." He smiled with that smug expression on his face. God, I hated him.
"You can keep on dreaming if you think you'll-" Victoria finally lost her temper but I was already on it.
"Fuck you! Like hell I'd let you hit on her. We don't have to be in a relationship for me to care about my friend you idiot! Plus any sane person would be just a bit protective if a person they knew had been molested by a retard like you and-" I almost shouted getting out of my seat but then a scream stopped me from finishing.
"Gentlemen!" We were stopped yet again by the even louder booming voice of Mr. Thornhill. "I am going to say this one more time, either you be quiet, or you all get an hour detention with me at lunch and after school for the next month!" He shouted and I sat back down again though that anger I had boiled up inside me hadn't faded one bit.
"Now based off what I have been told I have come to this conclusion." Mr. Thornhill began. "Micheal you will have an hour detention after school for the next week as will you Josh."
"What!" Micheal screamed as if he was surprised that this would happen, "How dare you! Do you not know what family I belong to? I am the second son of the Weathers family, the family that has helped this school for generations due to our connections with the original founder. My families what's kept this dump afloat, you do realize with one word to my dad all of that could be lost?" Hearing Micheal lose his temper was something I'd never seen, his voice didn't sound angry per say if anything it sounded more like a plea of desperation. Even so, it was unusual to see him so flustered and I loved every second of it.
I honestly couldn't believe my ears when I first heard it. That scumbags family were the ones providing the school with their resources? No wonder Mr. Thornhill acted all nice around him, he has to suck up to him or the schools reputation went down the drain.
Mr. Thornhill sighed and placed a hand on his forehead, clearly he was fed up. "I am fully aware of that Mr. Micheal Weathers, I know what your family has done for us at Colfeild Manor High and I will forever be eternally grateful for the help. But I am as fair as I am grateful, I'm no suck up I'm not going to just ignore all the rules you break because you're parents are wealthy. I have already let you off the hook too many times as it is." He said going a bit quiet.
"But I can't afford to-" Micheal shouted.
"I honestly couldn't care less what you can and can't afford to do!" Mr. Thornhill screamed finally losing his temper before breathing in and out slowly to regain his composure. Micheal just froze not even daring to open his mouth.
"As I was saying, I am not the type of guy who will suck up to you because your rich, I try and do things fairly. Your dad is in good connection with Colfield Manor and helps us financially a great deal and I appreciate it, but at the same time, we can't afford to overlook this matter." He said sternly, "You put your hands on another student when they didn't want you to, you forced a kiss onto her without her consent. You do realise that can be classed as sexual assault and in the extreme case you could be jailed? I'm sorry Micheal but this time, you will attend an hour detention after school for the next week starting Monday, and if you object again to my decision it will become after school and lunch."
Micheal opened his mouth but then closed it again as if contemplating his decision, but it looked like he finally gave up when he replied with a, "Yes sir."
"Now I think you already know what I'm going to ask now." He gestures to Victoria.
Slowly and reluctantly Micheal trudged over to us, I was glaring at him hard as a wide grin stretched out across my face. He clearly saw the huge triumphant smile I was wearing (I made sure of that) and to that he made a "tsk" sound at me and glared back but I didn't really care, I had been waiting for this moment.
"Sorry." He mumbled refusing to make eye contact.
Victoria huffed and replied with, "It's fine I guess."
Victoria then looked him in the eye and smiled lightly at him, while holding out her hand, "No hard feelings?" I really envied the fact that she could just forgive and forget so easily but it did annoy me a bit that she didn't even try to take advantage of the situation, then again that wasn't really her style.
"No hard feelings." Micheal shook her hand looking at the floor.
"Good, now that that's sorted, on to you Joshua Carter." Mr. Thornhill continued, I had forgotten for a second that he was there. "You are equally in the wrong as well, you hurt another student quite seriously might I add. You took the matter into your own hands when it wasn't yours to deal with. You should have told a teacher but you refused, so you get an hour after school for the next week as well. Sound fair?"
"Yes sir," I said quickly, unlike Micheal, I wasn't stupid enough to object.
"Now as for you two," He pointed to David and Joseph "You may not think it but you both get a 15-minute detention after school today. You two had every opportunity to stop what had happened but you chose to sit and watch."
"But sir that's-" David began but was cut off.
"Any objections and I'll double it." Mr. Thornhill fixed his gaze on him and he kept quiet.
"No sir," Joseph eventually was the one to reply. It was weird hearing him speak after so long. Yep, his voice felt as dull and monotone as the google translate version of the native Englishman, just like I thought.
"That is all, you are dismissed."

I don't think any sweeter words could have been spoken at the time, it was time to leave the dreaded headteacher's office and boy did it feel good. Though I wasn't completely satisfied with the apology Micheal gave to Victoria but I guess it was enough for now, I was just glad that it was all over and done with.
I sighed the biggest sigh of relief I think I had ever let out in my life, "Man am I glad that's over."
"Tell me about it, I was just praying it would end soon before you all started fighting again. You really need to learn how to control your temper you know." Victoria frowned at me.
"Hey, I was just trying to help."
She sighed, "What am I supposed to do with you?"
It was just then that I caught sight of something or rather someone running down the corridor and up to us.
"Josh! Vicky! Over here!" When I looked over to where the sound was coming from I saw Daniel running up to us and when he finally caught up, he tried to talk but he had to stop a few times in between pants and huffs. "Sorry... I'm late... I got held up... Damn teacher caught me sneaking around... So I took him on... A wild goose chase and managed to loose him... Did it go alright in there, what happened?"
I gave him a chance to catch his breath before I explained everything.
"Wow, that must have been a rollercoaster but I'm glad you both came out alive at least."
I nodded "I was expecting a lot worse so I'm fine with having a detention for an hour and besides a week isn't that long."
"Mate, that's 5 whole days of sitting in the detention room for an hour, with Micheal!"
"Someone call my name?" Turning around I saw Micheal and his little gang had appeared next to us, and after I thought we were done. They were standing in a line, Micheal not looking any different from usual, it seemed like he was quick to get over it. David though still looked like he wanted to strangle me, to was obvious that he wasn't going to be forgetting this anytime soon, though it's not like I cared anyway. AndJoseph? He was just, well, Joseph.
I kissed my teeth at them, "What do you want?"
"Nothing, I just wanted to talk. Since when did that become a crime?" He replied.
"Now why do I find that hard to believe?" I spat.
"Look, believe what you want but I'm telling you the truth, we're even now I got you and you got me back."
"And what makes you think we'll believe you after all that you've done?" I snarled.
"Fuck sake, I said I'm sorry OK what more do you want!" He turned his head away from me, he was sucking up his pride and apologising. He had too much pride to outright say it of his own free will, but either way, he was apologising.
I almost couldn't believe what I was hearing, Micheal Weathers, one of the princes of school who's known for being the biggest ladies man and who had bullied me up until now was apologising? It shocked me so much when I realised that I ended up staring at him in disbelief. When he said sorry back in the headteacher's room he was being forced to, but this was a whole other story, he was doing this voluntarily.
"What are you all looking at!" He had turned his face fully away from us now so I couldn't read his expression,"Oh, whatever! Think what you want, let's go!" He started to walk away.
"Wait!" I shouted, that part surprised me even more than Micheal did before. I saw as he turned around giving me a puzzled look, "Thanks... For the apology I guess, but don't think I like you, you're an asshole, a retard, and a player, we're not friends, remember that." I tried to keep a straight face but it failed and I ended up smiling instead, not because he and I were OK or anything, but because I'd finally broken him, I'd gotten Micheal to suck up his pride and submit. Will Miracles never seize to amaze me?
"Whatever, I think I can live with that," He smiled back at me, but this time, it didn't have it's usual hint of smugness to it, it was like he was genuinely smiling at me. He almost looked like a decent guy.
As Micheal walked off David came up to us, "Look, don't think this is over. Micheal has to go through much more than you will ever have to, if I were you I'd watch your back." He folded his arms as he walked away closely behind Micheal.
Joseph just nodded at us as if to acknowledge our existent then he turned around and whispered in his usual dull tone, so quietly I could barely hear him.
"Sorry about him, he get's a bit overprotective of Micheal. But what he said is true, not that you guys would ever understand." Then he walked off as well, leaving me Victoria and Daniel all very confused as we stood watching the trio in a stunned silence.
"Um, well, what was that about?" Daniel said when they were out of sight.
"Why are you asking me I'm just as surprised as you," I answered.
"Those guys are weird, one minute they're horrible, the next nice, I don't get them..." Victoria stared off in the direction they left.
"Whatever it was at least they don't completely hate us," Daniel said.
"Yeah, I guess..." I said as I stared at off into the distance.
It was weird but, I felt somewhat happy that we'd sort of made up though we didn't really if that makes any sense. At that little moment in time, the 3 princes weren't our enemies nor our friends and it was nice that way. Were we acquaintances? Allies? Well, whatever relationship we had with them at least it was better than clawing at each other's throats half the time. Though I couldn't help but wonder what they meant when they left. Was Micheal Weathers really as horrible as he made himself out to be? I guess I would never know, but just then I saw a side of him that I had never imagined he'd have, it made me curious as to what other hidden personalities he may have been hiding from the world.
Could it really be that Micheal Weathers was actually a nice person at heart?
Nah I was overthinking things, must have been a trick of the mind...
