Chapter 11: Kid...
Ray opened the door, revealing a curly-haired girl in a beige uniform with a spear in her hand... no, it wasn't a spear, it was like a strap? I don't know, it was a stick with a circle at the end of it that I suppose was like a harness... I DON'T KNOW! And I don't understand why my head was exploding with this.
Anyway, the girl turned out to be from animal control, and she was coming for the raccoon, finally.
"It's in the fridge," Ray said with annoyance.
The girl entered the house and began to walk towards the kitchen, when she was about to arrive she looked at Jasper who was kneeling on the floor fanning the cake with two fans and, as expected, she opened her eyes wide as soon as he saw the cake.
"Wait," he said with his mouth on the floors, "is that a 9 leches ice Cream cake?"
"10" Kris responded proudly.
"10 leches?" The girl gasped. "It's beautiful, so many leches"
The traditional cake was 3 leches, but "1, 2 Cakes" simply started adding milks and more milks, making it exquisite and very difficult to get.
"I don't know how longer I can keep this cake from melting," Jasper said, breathing heavily.
"If so, we should eat it then," Piper spoke, taking a knife from the table. "I'll go first."
"Hey, no!" I shouted, putting myself between the cake and her.
"I want to eat it!"
"You do not!".
"I'll eat all that cake!"
Once again, a shouting war was present in the kitchen, it was nothing out of the other world, with time you got used to it, but that did not take away the fact that there was a chorus of uneven voices, sometimes I didn't even know who He was fighting with me.
I watched as Kris climbed onto a kitchen chair, put his hands over his mouth and, without further ado, let out a whistle that left me not only deaf to my ears, but to everyone's, making us shut up and put on my hands on my ears.
"No!" she shouted, "no one will eat cake until we sing 'Happy Birthday' to my son!"
It was mere coincidence, because it seemed as if it had been planned, the raccoon moved from side to side and let out some of the strangest wild noises at him.
"Why don't we just call him and sing him Happy birthday over PearFace?" the animal control girl said.
"Yes! That is a great animal control idea, lady" Piper finished.
"I gotcha, Henry."
I turned to look confused at the animal control girl who had a huge smile on her face.
"Not my name" but it was because Piper was wearing a sweater that said "HENRY."
"OK".
An awkward moment formed between those present, but not that much, it was more something as usual. Now that I think about it, I don't think it would be a good idea to talk to Henry on PeraFace, if he was at the blood bank... dressed as Kid Danger, but who cares, we want cake.
I was standing with my arms crossed waiting for Kris to contact Henry, when I remembered an important moment not several minutes ago.
"Char," I said as I approached the girl, "you didn't tell me."
"Not tell you what?" she asked confused.
"Because tomorrow we will be in the Capi Cueva all day."
"Oh right!" she replied, "while you were with Ray and Henry outside, Jasper and I thought about celebrating Henry tomorrow, since it's our "last" birthday with him, we think it's a good idea."
Last birthday? How quickly time passes. Damn yes! Henry is already 17!
"I don't know," I said while scratching my head, "are you sure? The last time we were alone in the Man Cave we almost self-destructed it."
She rolled her eyes, "but it was because Jasper was excited about the flares," I snorted. "Come on, Kai, it'll be okay."
I looked a little doubtful at Charlotte. Don't take this the wrong way, I loved being with my friends, but it made me too nervous to be alone with the three of them, it was a lot of tension, I mean, now it's a lot of tension, not before, but now it is and much more so after... of the incident... argh, the incident.
"Fine," I agreed, "but I'm not playing 'Truth or Flare.'"
Char raised his hands "whatever you say."
I thank Henry a little for answering the call, freeing me from that conversation, I insist, it's not that I don't like being with them, I love it, it's just discomfort.
"Hello," Henry said through the phone.
You could see shelves behind him and several signs that said "BLOOD", I think he realized that since in just a few seconds he ran to a place with a sky blue background. You could also tell that he was nervous, very nervous.
"Hey, mom! What's up?" Henry asked.
"Hey, Henry. There's a lot of people here and they want to eat your cake. And Jasper thinks it's gonna melt."
Kris brought the camera closer to where Jasper was, he was sweating, it was obvious, and with very little force moving the fans.
"I can't keep it much longer," he said, "sorry, Henry, I tried."
"But the thing is, we can't eat the cake until we light a candle and sing happy birthday to you."
"That's a great idea, Mom," Henry replied.
"So we'll do it now," Kris said with a smile, "everyone get together."
As she requested, we went to the kitchen counter where the cake was, so we could all see each other on the screen.
And as a school choir, again, we began to sing "Happy Birthday."
It was a good plan, but not a very good one for Henry, since at that same moment, he heard the door open on his side, letting out a "Kid..." from an outside voice... oh no.
