My lord, why does school seem to drag so much? It feels like we've been in school for a freaking year. I really don't like going to school, but my parents force me to. I honestly don't know why we even live here anyways. I mean, would you want to live in a place where giants could literally attack you at any moment and just swallow you? No, I didn't think so. Anyways, finally this stupid school let out for the day. I was quickly walking home because, well, you know, giants could attack at any moment.

I was just about to turn onto the street I lived on and then it happened.

There was a loud sound that sounded like footsteps, giant footsteps. As each giant footstep drew nearer and nearer the ground began to shake harder and harder. I was practically sprinting to get home before the footsteps caught up to me. Soon enough, the ground was shaking so hard that I was hardly able to run without falling over. I finally made it to my house and slammed the door shut. My mom gave me a rather confused look.

"There are... They are... Giants," I stammered, but finally managed to say.

"Wait, what?"

"Outside."

My mom's look of confusion quickly turned into a look of horror. She looked at me dead in the eyes.

"Autumn, please go hide somewhere. Stay out of anybody's sight. Even out of mine. Please," she told me, with a stern but also worried look on her face. As I walked to my room, I heard my mother talking to my father.

"She needs to stay safe," my mom told him.

"What she needs is to learn how to fight. Or else she will just live her life in fear. Is that what you want for her?" My dad questioned her.

"I want her to be safe Matthew, nothing else," my mother responded.

I couldn't here there rest of the conversation because I turned into my room. I quickly opened the closet door, walked in, and shut the door behind me. I know, not the best spot, but it was all I had other than the bed. I had just sat down when the shaking started again, and this time it was really bad. There was more than one giant. All I saw after the shaking was right next to me was debris falling from the ground. I felt a strong force push down on my back and realized a few things. One, I was stuck under a wooden beam. Two, I was going to get spotted sooner or later. Three, my house was crashing down as I thought about these.

I saw my parents staring up at something, before they were both grabbed in one hand and lifted. I would like to say that I fainted, but, nope, I did not faint at all. I all I heard was the sound of something swallowing. I already knew what happened. My parents were gone. I just curled up into a ball and started to cry. I heard footsteps leaving but at that point I didn't care what happened. I thought that it was over, but no. It wasn't. I heard more footsteps coming towards me. The footsteps stopped, and something knelt down right next to me.

I heard quiet muttering and all of the sudden I felt the weight of the wooden beam being lifted off of my back. I was about to sit up and turn around when I felt something grabbing me and I was lifted off of the ground. I was about to scream when I saw a hand wrapping itself around me. I was just waiting to be placed inside of a giant's mouth and then be swallowed. However, it never happened. I saw a small area where I could look out of and I saw the ground moving. I automatically knew what was happening.

I was being taken away by a giant.
