Selling Cards: The Struggle
You may or may not know this about me, but I am a YuGiOh card collector. I don't collect the rarest of cards, however, but I collect one of each copy of the cards I find in packs, although I am willing to buy packs online.
The real problem with collecting one copy of each card is what to do when you get another exact card. I know that for some decks that it's a good thing, but I already have a structure deck on me involving FAIRIES!! (Favorite Type If you couldn't tell already XD) and having extras to me is just having cards that could be useful to someone else.
This leads to probably the biggest struggle in card collecting: Selling extra cards you already have.
How is this a problem? Many ways.
1. Card values range from the pack they come from. For some reason, one card that comes from one pack costs more than from another pack. I got an app that can help me with pricing, but the thing is that I don't memorize the packs that I get them from. I didn't really see them as something important. I mean I can get a common price range with the prices, but I just get that feeling that when I find someone willing to buy them, they'll ask, "Which pack did they come from?" To me, I don't really care about the pack the card came from? So what that it's uncommon in one pack but common in another! It's the same card!!
2. Low variety of places to sell cards. The most luck I can ever get is online. I found a card store one time that I may sell the extra cards to, but they only buy sport cards. So yeah, there aren't a lot of physical places to sell cards. Online isn't much help either, but it's a little bit higher of a success rate. The last time I bought cards online was long ago, and it was three glossy Dark Magicians. I kept one (obviously!), sold one, and gave one to a friend. Still have no idea how those two cards are doing today.
3. The kinds of cards I like to sell may not be the best.
These are the current extra cards that I have and want to sell that are official:
One Ojama Green
One Command Knight
I call those official because the other two cards appear to be a special kind of cards that aren't the official versions. I looked up these kinds of cards and apparently they're "bootleg" cards. Although I am a collector, I prefer to have the official ones than the bootleg ones, although they are rare. These are the two cards that I have that are "bootlegs" along with their official version next to them:
Deem Light = Micro Ray
Prince of the Devils Umderworld Hardis
= Dark Ruler Ha Des
So these may be the diamonds in the rough, but as I said before, online selling isn't going too well....
So if you really have any suggestions on a better way to sell them, I'm all ears!
