Chapter # 47

Unedited.

Sheheryar's P.O.V:

Sitting on the bed beside Fiza, I stared at her sleeping face for quite a long but didn't wake her up. Last night her exhausted face and the dark circle under her eyes made me worried. She told me that she was unable to sleep in my absence, that she felt insecure even in the presence of Kaka. To be honest it was hard for me to believe, that a person like her could feel insecure. Especially when I witnessed her travelling alone with kids at night in the outskirts of the city.

If this is the real, Fiza then who was the woman I saw that day?

But she cried later in the car right??? I remember her wiping the tears.

Means, she was putting up a brave act? While being hurt and scared from inside. I wonder what made her take such a reckless step that night.

What have you suffered Fiza??

I gently pushed a strand of hair from her face, which woke her up. With squinted eyes, she looked at me and smiled.

"Assalam o Alaikum."

"Wallaikum Assalam." I answered and kissed her forehead. It's a strange habit that I developed since first I heard Sadaf and Taha Salam me after waking up in the morning and after living with Fiza, I understand from where they learned it. So, just like kids, I kissed her forehead too.

"Why are you up so early? What time is it?" She asked in a sleepy voice.

"It's almost noon my beloved lady. Would you like to have breakfast or lunch?" I smirked, leaning on her face and her eyes went wide.

"Sadaf,... school."She tried to get but I pushed her on the bed again.

"She is in school. I sent her."

"Why didn't you wake me?"

"Hm, good question. Actually, ... you can say...I was under your spell."

"Spell?"

"Yes, the one you cast upon me last night."

Fiza's POV:

I stared at him unable to understand what he just said, as he gazed back at me with his brown smiling eyes. Eyes, which once looked like a deep pound of water where no wave can emerge, never imagined that these eyes were hiding a mighty ocean of feelings inside.

"Yes, the one you cast upon me last night."

"What do you mean?"

"I came running yesterday feeling homesick and out of nowhere a fairy appeared on the doorstep of my house and embraced me in her arms." His smile widened as he continues, "Then she said some incantations in my ears and suddenly my homesickness and all tiredness flew away. I was welcomed into the home by her and then she put something on my lips and cast her spell. You know, it was really magical and powerful. I was unable to put up any resistance, so the fairy took advantage of it and left me to guard her while she slept peacefully in my arms."

My face started to feel hot and a smile formed on my face at his strange method of explaining. So what if I kissed him and asked him to stay beside me until I sleep, it wasn't the first time and there was no need to put it that way.

"I couldn't sleep a blink, the thought that of spell-breaking scared me."

"You are very good at playing with words." I said sitting up.

"I would believe when they affect on you."

That's how he wants my response to his feelings, by words, by actions...

I hold his face with both hands and kissed his forehead, "Here, I cast a spell that your words with always reached the heart of the person you want."

"Where did you have learned this innocent way of wooing your husband?" He asked, as his fingers caressed my face and neck.

"You are exaggerating again." I tried to smile.

"Fiza, you really understand men, do you?" He asked inching closer to me.

"I don't and I don't think there is any need for it."

"Why? You don't want to understand me?"

"I don't want to know men's psyche to understand you. For a woman, her husband is different from other men, therefore, I cannot count you with those." I put my hands on his both shoulders to push him, "I have to wake Taha or he will be grumpy all day."

That is how Taha was, his mood remains foul the whole day if he overslept even an hour. Knowing his nephew, Sheheryar moves back, giving me space to get up from the bed. I quickly got up to wash my face, the cold tap water feels so good on my hot skin. No matter how much I tried but I cannot control the rising temperature of my body whenever he comes near me.

Never thought I would be so sensitive to Sheheryar's touch. It's been months, yet I feel the same electrifying sensation as the first time. My thoughts get muddle, my body acknowledge his presence, my mind likes to obey him and feelings always respond to him.

How he reached the depth of my being when Ehtesham couldn't?

'Taking a closer look at my ugly wife'

Ehtesham words popped into my mind just after his thought and I raise my head to see my face in the mirror but there I didn't find that ugly wife. In the mirror, I saw the image of Sheheryar's wife.

'A fairy appeared on the doorstep of my house and embraced me in her arms.'

I quickly splashed water on my face again before it starts to heat up again.

~*~

Sheheryar's POV:

I watched her as she came out of the bathroom with freshly washes face and leave the room tying her hairs into a messy bun.

This is my wife, her responsibilities come first before everything. Unlike Humaima she pays attention to the home and others before herself. As much as I like to see her dolled up, I also find this side of her intriguing as well.

'I cannot count you with those.'

"You won't miss a chance to stir up my feelings" Mumbling, I touched my forehead where she kissed.

I get up and walked over to the kitchen, where she was busy making tea while Taha was engrossed in watching a cartoon.

"He is watching 'Jaan' again?" I asked leaning against the kitchen counter.

"Yes, lately he became quite fond of it. Whether it's morning or evening he only wants to watch that cartoon."

"Well, he is my nephew after all."

"Hm?" Fiza gave me a questioning look.

"He has become obsessed with that cartoon just like I have become obsessed with you." Her hands halted for a moment, I think she wasn't expecting to hear this. Well, I was also wasn't expecting to say it but I have this feeling that I will be restless if she doesn't know about this.

"Fiza, the love of a man is no different from an obsession, the line that differentiates these two words for us is very thin and... I have been pushed on the edge of that line. But it is as you say, a husband is different from other men. Means, I won't be blamed if I cross that line, right?" I covered the distance between us and stood just beside her.

"Obsession isn't a good thing,... no good will come out-" I yanked her arm and now she was face to face with.

"You shouldn't be saying this with a blushing face." She didn't meet my eyes.

"Also you shouldn't stay silent or avert your gaze." I hold her both hands and take them behind her back, "It will defy your statement." I leaned closer to kiss her but she abruptly turned her face away with a small smile.

"Now you are going to tease me?" She didn't answer me but her smile widened only to provoke me further.

"Fine, I don't mind hardworking." I smirked but before I could put my plan into action her soldier came running to rescue her, leaving me no other choice to leave her.

"Ami... Jaan is finished." Taha appeared in the kitchen holding the remote.

"Ask your Mamo to play it again." Fiza's voice came from behind. Her tone of voice made me turn towards her and as aspected, she was smiling.

"You think you have won?" I asked.

"Indeed." She turned towards the stove.

"I haven't given up yet." I said leaving the kitchen.

~*~

"Assalam o Alaikum, Uncle." I received Fiza's Chachu's call as soon as I stepped into the elevator to go to parking.

"Wallaikum Assalam, how are you beta (son)?" It's awkward when he calls me 'beta' not because he looks quite young to call a thirty-four years person his son but also because I am not used to hearing this word from anyone except Kaka.

"I am fine. How is your health?"

"Alhamdulillah. Beta are you at home?"

"No Uncle, I am just leaving the office." For some reason, I found it strange when he asked this.

"Good. Sheheryar, there is something I need to tell you and you have to convey it to Fiza because I am unable to do it myself." He paused after it and I frown appeared on my face at the choices of his words and the tone of his voice.

"What is it, Uncle?"

"Beta, my brother, Fiza's father had a car accident. I got a call from Bhabi a few minutes ago. He is in critical condition due to blood loss. I didn't tell me what doctors are saying but just in case I need to inform you that if something might get serious I will ask you to allow Fiza-"

"Uncle what are you saying, I would never stop her." I interpreted him.

"Thank you, I know you would say that. But I want you to be careful before telling Fiza."

"I can understand Uncle. If you don't mind I want to keep it a secret until I confirmed our air tickets."

"Yes, it will be better this way. It will be hard for her to remain in the right mind after knowing. She might be a person but when it comes to the people she loves her heart is the same as a heart of deer."

"I have noticed it..."

"My flight has been confirmed. I will contact you again after reaching the hospital."

"I will also inform you about our program."

"Allah Hafiz beta."

"Allah Hafiz." After hanging up the first thing I did was to call my Secretary and asked to book our tickets and luckily we got the seats on the next flight. Now, the thing left it to tell Fiza.

It is a difficult task. I still remember when Taimoor told me about Safina's critical condition, that news hit me like a bomb. I don't Fiza to feel the same thing, she barely starts to smile now, I don't want to snatch that smile again.

All these thoughts keep circling in my head until I reached home. I will not tell her anything until I got a call from Uncle. That's what I planned, therefore, I tried my best to stay calm but when she sits beside me and keep giving me questioning look.

"What is it?" I asked her, afraid that she might get the hint or Sumbul told her.

"You look disturbed."

"No, I am fine." Unintentionally I turned my gaze away from her.

"You don't look fine to me. What is it?"

"...I got a call from.... home. My father is very ill and wished to see us all." I tried hard but couldn't muster the courage to tell her the truth.

"What happened to him? How is he now?"

"He is not in any danger position but still in the hospital."

"Who is with him in the hospital? Have you check the seats on the next flight?"

"Yes, I have. We have to leave for the airport in two hours."

"Then why didn't you say anything before. I will pack things and don't worry. Everything will be fine. Illness is a test from Allah, for the person and the people around him. Be patient and thank Him that Uncle is out of danger." She said holding both of my hands in her soft ones. Completely unaware of the fact that it is her father who is hospitalized not mine.

I am sorry Fiza, for keeping you in the dark...
