Present and Voting
Carlo's POV:
Ewan ko ba kung magiging kakampi ko siya or not...
We took the International Relations subject...and as our final output, kailangan naming umattend ng three-day Model United Nations sa delegates ng General Assembly.
We have the liberty to choose the country that we like to represent. Dahil mayroon na akong kaalaman sa International Relations from Political Science, I dare myself to choose one of the "Permanent 5" countries...the French Republic, as Ami chose to represent Spain.
"Okay, delegates. We will begin our sessiom for today by doing a rollcall..."
Heto ang siste, since this is our final output, kailangan mong maging participative sa lahat ng activities...and so it is recommended na pag nagrorollcall na, you need to say "present and voting" when your country is called...and that's what I done. Of course, "Permanent 5" ako, I have the powerful voice over the General Assembly.
Anyway, yung isa sa mga agenda namin is about the humanitarian crisis which is connected to the ongoing war in the Middle East. I'll let my teammates on the "Permanent 5" decide on the possible of course of action for this...
"Heto ang ating suggestion: we need to set a neutral zone para makapasok doon ang relief goods pati mga refugees." Ani ng isang delegate na babae that represents the United States. "That way, we can be able to give them the relief they need without any fear of violence."
"Will there be any possible negative implications with this?" Tanong ko sa kanya.
"Well...as long as we're at good terms with the host countries, siguro wala tayo magiging problema dito."
"Alright, then. I have my laptop with me kaya let's draft our resolution." Sabi ng kasama naming lalaki which represents China. "By the way, be ready to defend this resolution in the floor, alright?"
"Sure."
Rosamie's POV:
I am grouped with fellow friends which represents European countries. Tawag nga dito ay EU group, though we are in a United Nations body.
"Guys, ano ang pwede natin solutions para sa issue natin ngayon?" I speak up as the informal leader of the EU group. "Our countries are rich in resources and manpower to be able to come up with an idea to save innocent people."
"Hmm...let's see here...we should use our ships to evacuate refugees to a safe place."
"Pero there's the question of immigration concerns." Sabi ng isa pang delegate that represents Germany. "There's no assurance na hindi lahat ng mga kukunin natin tao ay masama. Remember those bombings in France and Belgium?"
"Oh, yeah. I forgot."
"Well...I got an idea." Sabi ko sa kanila. "Let's say that we should make concessions with the parties involved in the war to make a humanitarian ceasefire para makapasok ang tulong sa kanila or evacuate them to a safer neighboring countries. At least sa mga kapitbahay nila, magkakaroon ng pagkakaunawaan ng host country at ng mga refugees."
"Hmm...let's go with that. Besides, baka mayroon pang ibang ideya ang mga regional blocs about this crisis." Sabi ng isang delegate that represents Switzerland. "Besides, I am rooting to the draft resolutions of the Permanent 5."
After plotting our possible plans of action for this Model United Nations, we have the opportunity to speak our thoughts in front of our fellow delegates.
"The delegate of the Kingdom of Spain, you are now recognized. You have sixty seconds for you speech."
"Yes, mam."
"The Kingdom of Spain, just like its role with its neighbors fomerly part of our empire, believes that there should be unity in helping those who need, especially the refugees of the wars in the Middle East. Therefore, on the behalf of the European Group, Spain encourages everyone to endorse our draft resolution for a humanitarian ceasefire. Thank you."
Carlo's POV:
"The French Republic has been contributed in maintaining peace in the Middle East region as well as protecting human rights, refugees are not exempted. Our foreign policy respects the rights of refugees, which despite being separated from their homes, should be not be deprived of rights...especially of life...
And then, nagsimula na kaming magusap-usap para matapos na namin ang aming mga resolutions and have it endorsed by the our fellow delegates...
Kaya lang...it seems for our part, parang there's no other delegates na gustong magendorse sa resolution namin.
"Uy, we need to do something about this."
"Sure...good luck out there.."
Rosamie's POV:
Of course...hehehe...including me.
Pero lumipas ang ilang minuto, no one turns out to endorse him...nagaalala ako sa kanya. Turning their heads away from fellow delegates is not the essence of being in the Model United Nations.
Natapos na ang group discussions and returned to formal session. Good thing that I put myself again of the speaker list kaya noong tinawag na ulit ang bansang nakadelegate sa akin, ilalabas ko ang saloobin ko, as a delegate and as a person.
"The delegate of the Kingdom of Spain seems to notice that there is some tensions happening in the floor. Spain does not know whether the cause of this tension is the policy of the countries or the personal etiquette of the delegates."
"The delegate of Spain wishes to appeal to this assembly to set aside all of the issues off the floor and focus on the problem at hand. Remember, we are called the United Nations because we are one in solving the problems of humanity and save it for future generations."
On our part sa Permanent 5 group, we assured of our endorsement for the other 3 draft resolutions.
At bago magbotohan for the resolutions at magsimula ng bagong topic ang General Assembly...
"Ami, thank you pala, ha?"
"Ehem, you should say like 'The United States wants to thank Spain for helping in cooling down tensions in this assembly.'"
"Well, I'm just settling the score with you." Paliwanag ni Ami sa akin. "Remember yung hinayaan kitang magexplain for the major subject natin last sem?"
"Hehehe! Hindi mo pala nakakalimutan iyon." Ngumiti siya sa akin. "Di ba sinabi ko sa iyo dati na it's okay na since nakapasa na tayo? But still, thanks for saving my skin."
"No problem. Hehehe!"
In conclusion, it's obvious na dahil sa naging intervention niya kanina, Ami was later given the Best Delegate award at the end of the Model United Nations.
But for me, ever since that speech in the podium, mas lalo akong namangha sa matalino kong girlfriend...
Kaya din pala akong protektahan just like I do...
That's why I really love her...
