Call Me the Meddling Lil' Sis' (Part One)
~Call Me The Meddling Lil' Sis' (Part One) ~
Leaving everything behind can be a difficult thing. This can really mess with someone and lead them to feel home sick. For me on the other hand, this is perfect. As much as I'll miss that cafe and I yearn to sing there one last time, I need to get away. Finally, I can chase my dreams and leave the past in the past. Nothing will be able to stop me. With all my strength, I won't let it.
I think that this will be great for Dad, too. I feel like the change will be perfect for him and will turn him into a better man. At first, I know it will be hard, but I have faith in him. Dad always pulls throw, no matter the obstacles. I'm not sure how it will affect Micheal, though.
I don't know why he even came with us in the first place. He hates being in the presence of Dad, so this is so shocking to me. His band has gone on break for awhile, for reasons that I haven't been told, so I would assume he would have stayed in his apartment back home. He left his friends and girlfriend behind. I have no way of telling if he actually said goodbye. Saying that one word is extremely important to Micheal. He values it since he never got to say anything like that to his own mother.
Seriously though, why the crap did he come with Dad and me?
I can't let my questions go unanswered. They say curiosity killed the cat. I say the cat was stupid and died because he didn't have the strengths to be smart about acting on its curiosity. That's why, I'm going to do this right. I've got an idea. What if I tried to find out on my own? Yes, that would be perfect! Mission one of my new California home is find out why Micheal came here. Now, I just need to find a way to get Micheal away from Dad so that I can find out. Hmm... how do I do that?
If I try to ask him at the house, he'll probably shy away from it since Dad would be around. Dad would think something's up since Micheal would be acting strange, and the plan would go down in flames. I have to think of something, though. The contestant party is only two days away.
Suddenly, I feel someone tap on my shoulder. I jump and turn around to face Micheal himself. "What do you need?"
"Ha- ha, I can't believe you got scared from that, wimp!" He mocked. He smirks since he scared little me half to death.
"You're so cruel to me. I'm this perfect sister and you do that to me?" I scoff, faking offense. "Why, oh, why do you hate me so much?"
"Woah there, now somebody's a little too overdramatic. Wait, no, make that way too dramatic," Micheal puts his hands up in defense.
I shove him and he trips over his own feet. He glares at me as he catches himself from falling into the rose bushes. Micheal swears under his breath, as usual, insulting me.
"Hey! I heard that," I rolls my eyes at him.
"What's wrong with a little sibling rivalry sometimes?" He suggests.
"Well, for your information, that doesn't involve insulting such a good sister so much like you hate her," I cross my arms over my chest and turn slightly away from him.
He puts his hands on my shoulders and spins me back around so that I am facing him again. "Well, maybe I don't like you,"
I gasp to show my fake surprise, putting my hand over my mouth. "I can't believe that you could despise your own and only adorable, little sister. I can't imagine a worse brother than you,"
"I guess someone is one her period!" He laughs to himself.
My jaw drops- and it isn't in faux shock this time. "Oh my God, Micheal! You can't just ask if a girl is on her period!"
He mimics my voice, terribly I might add,"Oh my God, Micheal! You can't just ask if a girl is on her period!"
I trip him and he falls face first on to the cement of our new house. "Be glad that I'm nice. If you said that to anyone else, you would probably be dead by now. And for your information, no, I am not,"
"So violent," He laughs.
"Ugh, I can't believe that I have to deal with that-"
"Rude!" Micheal rolls his eyes. "So, anyways, have you heard of Coachella?" He changes the subject.
"Yeah, why?" I ask. I take a sip of my drink.
"Since one of my favorite band's are going to be performing there, I thought that I would bring you along. You know, for brother-sister bonding time,"
I spit out my drink at him. "There's no way you're tricking with that crud. You're going to prank me and leave me alone like last time, aren't you?"
"Ugh, nasty. My poor shirt!" He grimaces as he looks down towards his dripping, ruined shirt. "Yeah, that was my plan, until I heard that they were playing there,"
I raise my eyebrows, not impressed or convinced by Micheal's load of crap.
"Sure, Micheal, sure. That's totally the reason why you want to take me,"
"Well, -"
"Of course, I knew this was coming,"
He glares at me. "-there probably will be some completely harmless pranks. It'll all be in good fun, though!"
I scoff at his nonsense. Should I go? It sounds like he's just going to screw me over. Although that's so, maybe, just maybe, I could figure out the answers to my many questions.
"So, do you want to come?"
I look down at my toes, purposely avoiding eye contact. "Yeah, I do,"
He furrows his brows. "Really, you're that dumb? I expected you to put up more of a fight, since you are your little fire cracker self,"
I elbow him, but then make eye contact. "No, I just want to spend time with you. You know, I missed you a lot while you were gone. I even missed your stupid pranks,"
By the look on his face, I can tell Micheal can sense the earnestly in my tone of voice.
"Oh, well, sure. That's cool," Micheal says. By him scratching his neck and darting his eyes, I could tell that he was clearly taken aback by my response.
I nervously laugh, not knowing what to do in that particular moment.
"So, see you in a couple of hours?" He asks.
"Yeah, that sounds good,"
Micheal suddenly has an evil smirk out stretched on his face. In an instant, he runs up to me and does the worse thing that a brother could do to an angelic sister- ruffle my hair. My jaw drops as he walks away with confidence in his long strides. He is cracking up, as well.
"Screw you, Micheal!"
Notes: I know, fluff chapter. You have to admit it was adorable, though! I just wanted to make a cute comeback with the book. Skyler deserves some happiness! Part two will be posted later this week. Keep your eyes out for it!
Last Updated: 3/28/16
Question of the chapter: Do you like it when people mess with your hair or is it your biggest pet peeve, like Skyler's?
Dedication:
I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Have a lovely day!
