Saera's POV

I paced back and forth in my living room, uncertain about what to do. I didn't know if Jungkook was really kidnapped or not. I tried calling him several times, but his phone was switched off.

I could have tried calling his friends or bandmates, but I didn’t have any of their numbers. "Ah, damn it!" I pulled my hair and shouted in frustration.

Suddenly, an idea popped into my head, making my eyes widen. What if I call him? I questioned myself, unsure. But he surely wouldn’t have his phone number anymore, right?

"I should try; I won't lose anything," I convinced myself and pulled out my phone, searching for a number in my least-used list.

I bit my lower lip in anxiety and dialled the number. After a moment, I heard someone shouting on the other end, which shocked me.

Well, turns out he always shouts at people who call him.

Weird.

"Dad, please! I said I’m not ready to get into a crappy relationship with someone I don’t know!"

Excuse me?

"Pardon?" I mumbled, unsure of how to respond.

I heard him clear his throat, and then he spoke again.

"Sorry, I thought you were someone else," he murmured apologetically.

If you say so. I needed to ask him quickly if he knew anything.

"It's okay," I replied. "Sorry for calling this late, but I'm worried. Is my brother with you?"

"Sae-Saera, is that you?"

"Yes, now please answer."

I explained the situation and how that man had threatened me. Hoseok said he didn’t know anything but would look for information about Jungkook.

I hung up the call, continuing to pace in my living room, biting my thumbnail out of panic.

I’m sure he’ll be okay.

Right?

"Jungkook, damn it, where are you? Can’t you take care of yourself? Aish..." I shouted, pulling my hair with both hands.

Suddenly, a notification lit up my phone’s screen, making me hop to see if there was any information about my younger brother.

It was a message. Who could it be from? I wondered as I unlocked the phone and checked the notification. It was an address that urged me to get there as soon as possible.

"Maybe it’s Jungkook who found a phone to send me this message. I should go there right now," I said, grabbing my coat and rushing out of my apartment.

The address wasn’t too far, luckily. It took me half an hour by bus to get there. When I got off, I noticed the place wasn’t crowded.

It was an old house...

I approached it, my view of the ancient residence becoming clearer. Without hesitation, I pushed the door, and thankfully, it wasn’t locked.

Okay, things are getting weird.

I called out for my younger brother but received no response. There were stairs leading to the upper part of the house, so I took them. Several doors lined the walls of the long corridor.

"Jungkook!" I screamed again at the top of my lungs, hoping to find my dear dongsaeng.

I spent ten minutes looking for and calling Jungkook’s name, feeling worse by the minute. My breathing wasn’t steady, and I felt an overwhelming weight on my chest, making it hard to breathe.

Suddenly, I heard someone’s faint voice coming from downstairs.

"Jungkook?" I whispered, barely able to muster the energy.

I leaned against the wall for support and made my way down towards the voice.

"Jungkook!" He shouted again, making me recognize that the voice was calling my brother.

Hoseok, I thought as I walked closer to his location.

"Hoseok, is that you?" I asked the obvious as his worried eyes met mine.

"Saera..."

"Did you receive the message too?" I questioned him, noticing how shocked he looked.

I tried to control my trembling hands as best as I could, wiping the sweat off my brow while thinking about how my poor kid must be suffering right now. And I didn’t even know where he was.

"Yeah, but he’s not here. Damn, I think we’re trapped. Let’s get out of here," Hoseok said, rushing towards the door.

What the heck? Why would they trap us here? If they wanted money, they would have asked for it, right?

"Shit," I muttered under my breath, fear and anxiety coursing through me.

We needed to get out of there ASAP because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was about to tell Hoseok about my sickness when suddenly, we heard a voice from an unknown source giggling.

"You both won’t get out of here until you've reconciled. Once that’s done, you can go back to your respective homes." I immediately recognized this voice as Jungkook's.

I looked at Hoseok, who also looked terrified as we both understood what our younger brother was playing at.

"Oh, and don’t worry about me. I’m perfectly fine!"

"Yah! Mijosseo? Get us out of here now!" Hoseok roared, glaring at each corner of the house.

"Damn it, just get me out of here already..." I whispered, feeling oddly relieved that he was alright.

"Jungkook! Jungkook, are you still there?" Hoseok yelled, but there was no response.

"I think he’s already gone. He’s so stubborn when he wants to do something," I said, looking at Hoseok with dread.

Hoseok looked puzzled and lost. He paced back and forth, mumbling some incomprehensible words. Occasionally, he glanced in my direction, clearly debating what he wanted to say.

I sat in a chair, trying to control my breathing. Cold sweat brimmed on my forehead, causing my hair to stick to my skin. Suddenly, my vision began to blur, and I could no longer hear what he was saying. It felt as if the floor was getting closer as I lost my balance and saw darkness in front of me.

When I fell, the cold floor shocked my skin, and I scrunched my face in pain. I was still conscious but too drained to open my eyes or move my body.

I heard Hoseok calling my name as I lay on the cold floor. He lifted my head and placed it on his lap, moving my face from side to side in an attempt to wake me.

I was too weak to tell him what to do or what to bring; I should have prepared for this, but I was too preoccupied with worrying about this stubborn kid.

"Gi…ve…me…so…me…thing…s-sweet…" I managed to mutter, struggling to speak as he panicked.

"Something sweet?" I heard him say, clearly in distress. "Okay, wait, I'll check my bag." He murmured as he hurried off.

For a few seconds, I lost track of his voice while he searched for something sweet. Then he returned and tried to get me to swallow something cold.

"Here, try to eat this," he said.

I felt his trembling hands guiding the food to my mouth as I attempted to swallow it; it was likely some candy. After that, he helped me drink some water, and I finally managed to open my eyes.

Jinjja, dealing with this sickness isn’t easy. Ah, God.

I looked weakly at Hoseok as he assisted me in sitting back in the chair, supporting my hands and waist. I rose quickly, thanks to his muscular arms, which had no trouble lifting me.

I guess I’m light...

He offered me more water, which I desperately needed at that moment, and helped by holding the bottle carefully for me. After I drank enough, I signalled for him to stop, and he immediately pulled the bottle away. He stood up and looked at me with caring eyes.

"You should always carry some candies," he said, moving closer to me. He sat on the floor, looking up at me with concern-filled eyes. "You never know when your blood sugar will drop..."
