Oh no, another long day awaits me.
Haha, what an amazing and funny life! I'm sure everyone is jealous of me.
At least I know I'll gain some benefits at the end of this challenging month, so let's hold on a little longer.
Ah, sorry, let me introduce myself. I'm Jeon Saera, 24 years old, and I work for BlogBeauty, a company that produces cosmetic products. I'm a marketing manager's assistant, and I've been working here for a year and a half since I graduated. I hope to get promoted soon!
"Saerassi, have you finished the report I asked for last week?"
"Ah, yes, sir! I sent it by email and left the file on your desk this morning."
"Oh, good. Thanks."
"You're welcome, sir."
Kim Taehyung, the marketing manager and my superior, has a kind, straightforward, and intelligent personality. He made me feel less anxious from my first day here, unlike many other stressed-out people.
"Yah yah yah!" I heard someone call from behind. Seriously, we're at work here; these people are unbearable. I'm getting sick of it. "I got you the most perfect blind date of the century, bae," said Nayeon with a proud smirk, carrying a book with her.
"Oh please, Nayeon, spare me this stuff; that's the last thing I need to hear about."
"Just let me present the guy's info, okay? His name's Lee Seheon, 25, and he works at Jung Enterprises..."
Jung? It's been a long time since I heard that name, but there are many other people named Jung, right? It can't be the same person I'm thinking of...
"Yah! Am I talking to the walls?" she interrupted my thoughts. "Hmm." She adjusted her attire. "Listen, this is the best opportunity to help you move on from-"
"Enough is enough, Nayeon. Please just leave me alone! I'm so tired of your nonsense and don't want anyone in my life right now, okay? Just leave me alone, can't you?"
My shouting made Nayeon freeze in place and earned us some glances from the other workers.
Ah, God, why is this girl so annoying? I guess I went a bit too far. Aish...
"Loo-" I tried to catch myself but got cut off by her.
"No." She stopped me mid-apology. "I'm sorry; it's my fault for wanting your well-being and trying to help you move on from whatever is bothering you. I shouldn't have pushed. I won't bother you from now on."
"It's not like that-" I tried again.
"Don't bother. Searassi, I understand now," she said, turning on her heels and walking back to her desk.
"Ugh." I mumbled under my breath.
Damn, I can't control my words when I'm really annoyed. I wasn't like this before, but over time and with everything I've faced, I've lost my composure and now easily say harsh things to others.
............
I got off work at 6 p.m. and took the bus, dropping off at the stop near my apartment. I walked a bit to reach the supermarket because I needed to buy something to eat tonight. I live alone in my apartment, having left my family in Gwangju when I got my job in Seoul.
I entered the supermarket at the end of the street. There were a few customers: some couples, families with parents and children, and other lonely souls like me.
I went straight to the section I needed-the easiest yet most delicious dish to make: ramen. Not that my cooking skills are poor, but they are below zero. Ramen is my savior in these desperate moments.
I picked my favorite flavor: chicken. After that, I walked back to the cashier to pay for my seven packs.
Wait, why is she looking at my noodles like that? Is there something wrong with them?
"Excuse me, is there anything wrong with the ramen?" I asked, guiding her gaze to mine.
"No, sorry, but there's a song with this flavor of noodles-it's called 'Chicken Noodle Soup,' and it's my favorite," she said, smiling at me with embarrassment.
"Ah, really? That's strange. Does it praise the food or something?"
"No, not at all. You can check it out if you want. The artist's name is J-Hope," she said, excited to introduce me to the song.
"Okay, thanks," I replied, my motivation to search for this song at near zero.
Seriously, some people have songs named after food, and other fools listen to them. What a weird world.
Finally, I reached my apartment, entered the door code, and threw myself onto the couch.
What an exhausting day!
Luckily, tomorrow is the weekend, and I can enjoy a little 48 hours with myself in my lovely home. Thank goodness.
Slowly, I felt my eyes becoming heavy and closing helplessly from all the tiredness. It didn't take long for me to fall into a short nap.
