Chapter 45: Tsuna vs. Genkishi

(O.D.D.- I added Tsuna Awakens OST.  It's slightly fast-forwarded, but it's the best I could get. (~_~ ; ) )

Tsuna's Sky flames glowed brighter as he charged at the purple-armored illusion.

He threw a punch, dispersing the illusion once it made contact.

Tsuna paused and floated before lowering himself to the ground, causing Spanner to also land.

The Decimo watched as indigo mist started to collect in one point of the room; the brunet smiled slightly as he untied the rope that was around his waist.

"Spanner-san, I would like you to stay out of this battle."

The blonde shrugged in response, sitting on the ground by a wall, pulling out a computer and typing on it, placing his bag on the side along with his parachute.

"Not like I would be that much of a help."

Tsuna smiled back at the other.

"Could you probably hack into the cameras in this area and keep them off? I don't want people to see any of my moves in this battle."

Spanner grunted before nodding, fingers moving quickly on his keyboard.

Tsuna tossed the rope to the side and looked up at his new opponent.

"You shall not pass from this point."

The mist took form.

Genkishi stood there in the air, arms crossed.

His eyes narrowed into slits as he glared at the brunet.

"Cease your useless attempts to fight.  You can simply come quietly and hand over the Vongola Sky ring."

Tsuna continued to smile; the orange flame on his forehead flickered gently.

"Maa, sorry, but I can't.  I got my friends waiting for me, so I'm not allowed to back down."

Genkishi merely blinked.

"So be it."

The ravenet drew two of his swords as Tsuna flew up to meet him in the air.

The brunet narrowed his sunset-orange gaze as he cocked a fist back.

Tsuna went at a medium pace than his normal fighting speed; his gloved fist met metal.

There was a resounding 'clang' that echoed throughout the area.

Tsuna quickly backed up and flew up higher into the air.

He ignited his hands above his head to send him downwards at Genkishi.

The brunet spun slightly in the air as he descended quickly.

Tsuna used his momentum to land an axe kick at Genkishi's head.

The ravenet quickly brought both of his blades up in an 'X' to block the kick; Genkishi narrowed his eyes in annoyance when he found himself slide back slightly.

Tsuna retracted his leg and flipped backwards into the air.

The brunet's hands then formed into 'guns'; the Decimo aimed his pointer fingers at the ravenet.

"X Bullets."

Small, orange orbs of flame darted towards Genkishi.

The swordsman narrowed his gaze and quickly blocked the bullets with his blades.

A thin layer of Indigo flames surrounded his blades.

With a swing of his arm, he sent condensed flames flying at Tsuna.

The Decimo's hands connected with each other to form a diamond shape; he absorbed the flames, giving more power to his own.

Tsuna flipped out of the way to dodge another attack.

He stopped with a small burst of Sky flames; the brunet grinned at Genkishi.

"You're good, Genkishi-san."

The swordsman scowled slightly in response.

"Enough of this, Vongola Decimo."

Genkishi pulled out his Hell ring and ignited it.

Indigo mist surrounded the swordsman and obscured Tsuna's sight of him.

Tsuna watched as familiar purple armor appeared.  Along with a large sword that gleamed in the dimly lit area.

"Die."

The brunet glanced behind himself and saw that Genkishi was there, sword raised.

Tsuna used his flames and spun around quickly, using a roundhouse kick to deflect the blade to the side.

The Decimo grinned widely.

"You've gotten faster."

Genkishi narrowed his gaze; his passive mask was breaking.

"Silence."

Tsuna chuckled and propelled himself upwards to dodge a slash that could've cut him horizontally in half.

The brunet clapped his hands together and shut his eyes; Genkishi rushed towards Tsuna with his sword raised once more.

Orange flames switched to green ones on Tsuna's forehead.

The brunet slid his eyes open, revealing, glowing, green irises.

Tsuna faced his palms away from his body and created a barrier of Lightning flames.

A large crack formed when Genkishi's sword met it.

Tsuna wasn't at all surprised since he didn't put too much energy into making the barrier; the brunet merely smiled slightly and retreated in a flash of flames.

Genkishi scowled.

"Stop running, Vongola Decimo!"

Tsuna called back, laughing slightly, as he drifted a few meters above the swordsman.

"I'm not! Geez......you need to calm down."

The brunet's eyes faded to a cool blue as he said that.

His blue flames illuminated the room as he let them expand in his hands.

He flew up higher into the air before pressing his palms together.

When he parted his hands slightly, a small orb of Rain flames appeared.

Genkishi narrowed his gaze at that.

Tsuna then let the marble-sized orb explode; blue flames fell on Genkishi like rain.

Genkishi studied the falling lights before glancing back up at Tsuna, who smiled brightly.

"I would be careful of the flames, Genkishi-san."

That was the only explanation the swordsman got before Tsuna disappeared in a flash of yellow flames; his eyes burned to a gold color as he disappeared from sight.

Genkishi immediately sensed a presence behind him; he lift the arm holding his blade to attack.

However, he noted that his movements were sluggish now compared to Tsuna's fluent flight patterns.

Gekishi widened his eyes when Tsuna's fist was an inch away from the swordsman's face; the brunet grinned.

"Gotcha."

Crack!

Genkishi's head whipped back and he slammed into a wall, creating a crater.

Tsuna waited for the dust to disappear, keeping his fists raised as his Sun flames switched back to Sky flames.

A heavy pressure was suddenly felt in the air; Tsuna narrowed his gaze and dropped his smile slightly.

'He's finally released the true power of the Hell ring.......but why do I have a bad feeli--?'

A sword came spinning dangerously outside of the plume of dust.

Tsuna quickly sidestepped and dodged the attack; he then heard dark, rough laughter.

Tsuna could only see a skeletal grin through the dust before tearing his gaze away; he looked down at his companions below.

The sword was never meant to hit Tsuna.

'Cr**!' "Spanner!"

He didn't care he forgot the honorific; the brunet darted down there in a flash of orange.

The blonde looked up from his typing and widened his blue eyes; he reached for his bag--probably to get a weapon to defend himself.

Slash!

Blood sprayed up in the air.

Spanner didn't even flinch when a drop landed on his cheek.

His blue eyes were wide with shock, his arms were reaching out hesitantly.

"Vongola...!"

Tsuna staggered; he went out of HDW mode.

The large sword was sticking out of his right shoulder, nearly cutting his arm clean off.

Tsuna grunted, sweat pouring down the side of his face.

The brunet scrabbled a hand to the blade that was poking out at the front of his shoulder.

Spanner leapt to his feet and quickly went behind Tsuna, grabbing the hilt of the blade; the brunet flinched but kept his gaze on hologram-Reborn, who had a slight frown on his lips.

"I'm going to guess that this wasn't what you planned to happen." 'This never happened in your timeline I hope.'

Tsuna caught the unspoken words and laughed shakily.

"Not really." 'I had a lovely 'x' on my back though.' He conveyed with his eyes. 'I knew I would get hurt somehow in this timeline too.'

Reborn tugged his fedora over his eyes before calling out to the mechanic.

"Spanner, pull out the swor--"

"But the bleedin--"

"--Tsuna can take care of it with his Sun flames. Now, pull the d*** sword out of my student's shoulder."

Spanner hesitated briefly before yanking the sword out cleanly and tossing it to the side.

The blade immediately floated up and returned to a bony hand.

Genkishi's new form was revealed completely; he laughed harshly as he lifted his blade up in the air.

He started to charge up an attack; dark, indigo, Mist flames surrounded the tip of the blade.

The three down below ignored him at the moment.

Tsuna wobbled and clutched his right shoulder with his left hand; his Sun flames surrounded the wound.

Hologram-Reborn tipped his fedora out of his eyes and watched as the wound stitched itself back together.

"Your Sun flames aren't very strong." He remarked dryly. "You're doing a very poor job in healing yourself, Dame-Tsuna."

Tsuna's eye twitched, ignoring the blood dribbling sluggishly through his fingers.

"Thank you for your concern, Chibi-chan."

Spanner stayed on the brunet's side, prepared to support the other's weight, but Tsuna stood strong and proud; he patted the mechanic's shoulder with the back of his left hand, avoiding staining blood on the green clothes, smiling brightly.

"Thanks for the help! Now just sit back, relax and watch me wrap this fight up by kicking my opponent's a**."

"But you shou--"

"Maa, I'll patch it up better when this is all over."

Tsuna's Sky flame ignited on top of his forehead.

He turned his gaze up to Genkishi.

He drifted up into the air with his Sky flames.

Tsuna's shoulder still hurt as he flew up, but he smiled and positioned himself.

Genkishi gripped his sword with both hands as it started to finish charging up; the skeleton cackled.

"All of you intruders will die! Those who oppose Byakuran-sama will all die!"

Tsuna snorted in his head when an amusing thought came to him.

'Yes. I will be marshmallow-ed to death by Byakuran-kun.'

The brunet then snapped to attention.

He spoke softly, but his voice could still be heard as the wind whipped around the two fighters.

"Genkishi-san....I apologize in advance...."

Tsuna went into his familiar X-Burner stance, but he had a new move in mind.

The brunet smiled sheepishly.

"You're going to be my test target for a slightly new attack of mine."

Tsuna's right glove burst out with pure Sky flames--not soft flames.

The brunet extended his left hand in front of himself; his glove glowed and turned into Primo's--the Roman numeral one shimmered slightly in the lighting of his flames.

But Tsuna narrowed his gaze and the Roman numeral ten appeared on top of the one.

The blue gem in his glove glowed brightly as the two symbols merged with each other.

The orange flames on Tsuna's left hand shimmered before burning silver, expanding around his hand.

Tsuna's left eye was also glowing a shade of silver while his right eye remained a bright, sunset-orange.

Genkishi hesitated in his attack when he felt the power surging from Tsuna.

'Wha--? What is this...!?'

Spanner was also surprised; he muttered quietly to himself.

"This isn't the X-Burner. He's not using his soft flames to support him, but rather his purer flames instead."

Hologram-Reborn watched in interest.

Tsuna's mismatched eyes glimmered; he smiled gently at Genkishi as the silver flames continued to expand.

Ice started to form on the walls near him.

His breath came out in white puffs as the area got colder and colder.

Suddenly the silver flames receded to creat a small layer around Tsuna's left hand.

Tsuna stretched the fingers of his left hand out at Genkishi.

The brunet gazed cooly at the swordsman.

"X-Burner: First Edition."

Silver flames rushed forward towards Genkishi when he swung his sword down.

Genkishi watched with shock as the silver flames overwhelmed his indigo ones.

His sword started to get frozen in ice and crack.

His blade burst into millions of shards; Genkishi was surrounded in a silver light.

BOOOOOOM!

A loud explosion was heard and dust filled the entire area.

Spanner watched with slight worry as the clouds of dust slowly faded away.

"Vongola...?"

Silence.....and then--!

Blue suddenly met silver and orange.

"Boo!"

Spanner jumped slightly and flinched back.

Tsuna laughed brightly as he stepped back, waving his hands in a surrendering manner.

"Ahahaha!  Sorry, sorry!  I always love getting a bit of a scare out of the people I meet."

Silver flames flickered around the brunet's body; some snow was actually coating his shoulders and head.

The Decimo shook his head and laughed when he got to hit the mechanic with some snow.

Spanner ignored the snow and stared at the brunet in wonder.

"I had thought your X-Burner would be your most strongest attack.  But that last one proved me wrong."

Tsuna blushed bashfully and rubbed the back of his neck; both of his eyes were now a warm, sunset orange.

"Maa...that last attack wasn't anything special.  It was just a slightly modified X-Burner.  And it still needs some getting used to."

"I can see that."

Hologram-Reborn was studying the brunet's left hand.

It was covered in burns similar to Xanxus' scars.

Tsuna grinned at his tutor.

"I'm sure I'll fix the flaws in the attack.  Don't worry your sadistic head over it."

Reborn scoffed before smirking.

"Let's just get going, Mama."

Tsuna groaned.

"That nickname again?  At least let it be 'Dame-Tsuna' instead of that!"

"Seeing that 'Mama' is causing you the most distress, I'll keep calling you that."

Tsuna's eyes twitched as he stared at Reborn with a deadpanned look.

"..........You evil, evil, evil little baby."

Reborn merely smirked before giving an 'innocent' look.

"Vongola."

Tsuna then glanced over at Spanner who had a worried look on his face.

"You're bleeding again."

The brunet glanced at his shoulder and saw that the red-brown spot was expanding again; Tsuna lit his left hand up with Sun flames and shifted the cloth to the side slightly, pressing his palm to the puncture wound.

The bleeding was stopped once more; Reborn sighed on the side.

"I'm going to have to take a look at that when we're done with all of this."

Tsuna merely smiled as he finished closing the wound--although the injury didn't look any better.

The brunet shifted his bloody clothes back into place and grabbed the rope on the ground.

"Hai~Spanner-san, you ready to get going?"

The mechanic blinked in slightly surprise before grabbing his things and slinging his bag on; he reattached the parachute.

"Hai..."

Tsuna grinned.

"Alrighty~let's go."

The brunet used his Sky flames to propel himself and Spanner up the tunnel and into the next few rooms.

The Decimo found the the room with the white device and landed there.

He immediately saw the cage holding his recently awakened friends with Shoichi and the Cervello on the side.

Hayato saw the blood on Tsuna's shoulder and froze, but he chose not to shout anything just yet.

The rest of the Vongola Guardians also noticed the injury and kept quiet, studying the brunet with worry for the Decimo and murder for the one who hurt Tsuna.

Shoichi gazed at Tsuna cooly.

"Vongola Decimo.  You are to hand over your Sky ring, or your friends will die."

He waved a remote around in his hand before handing it to the Cervello.

"That button will release poisonous gasses into that cage if you don't comply in the next ten seconds."

The redhead then turned on his heel and walked away.

"I leave the rest to you, Cervello."

The pink-haired women started to count in unison; Tsuna acted panicked and the people in the cage shouted at the brunet in not giving up the ring--although his Guardians were just acting, and Kyoya was indifferent.

Bang, bang!

The Cervello slumped forward; Tsuna acted surprised once more as he looked at Shoichi, who was holding a gun with shaky hands.

The redhead fell onto his bottom and sighed.

"D-Don't worry....they're not dead....and...."

Shoichi looked up at Tsuna with nervous eyes.

"...I-I'm on your side."

Instead of being suspicious of the redhead like in the last timeline...

Tsuna grinned brightly and sat down in front of Shoichi, crossing his legs.

"Goodie, 'cause if you were an enemy, I would've incinerated you by now."

Shoichi widened his eyes and yelped, scrambling back all the way to the wall; Tsuna laughed amusedly.

"Wait, wait!  I'm sorry!  I was just joking!"

Shoichi huffed and muttered to himself, but Tsuna could still catch his words.

"You're still so carefree and mischievous in the future, Tsuna-san.  Why me?"

Tsuna chuckled softly.

Smash!

The brunet glanced to the side and sweatdropped.

"....I thought you would have a little more patience, Kyoya-kun."

Apparently, Kyoya decided to punch through the cage, flameless, destroying one side and stepping outside of it.

He merely gave a look to Tsuna that said: 'I hate being confined in small spaces--even if it's with you omnivores.'

Tsuna facepalmed himself and gave a sheepish smile to Shoichi.

"Um, sorry about your cage."

Shoichi was gapping at Kyoya before looking at Tsuna, whisper-shouting at the brunet.

"He destroyed the cage!?  Without using flames!?  How physically strong is he!?"

Tsuna smiled amusedly.

"Pretty strong, Shoichi-san."

Poof!

"--TREME!  Woah!  I'm EXTREMELY here--!   Wait....OTOUTO!?"

With his brotherly instincts; the silveret sprinted over to Tsuna and looked at the brunet's bleeding shoulder with worry.

"How did you get injured?  Were you being careless again!?"

Tsuna smiled sheepishly as Ryohei checked the wound, pushing the green clothes to the side.

"Maa, maybe I was...?  Ehehe...."

Tsuna felt the soothing warmth of Sun flames on his shoulder; Shoichi was fidgeting nervously on the side.

The brunet found that the rest of his Guardians were now crowding around him; Tsuna looked directly at Takeshi first.

"Takeshi-kun, you received a concussion in your capture.  How are you feeling?"

Takeshi laughed and rubbed the back of his head, wincing slightly.

"Maa, it's probably a light bruise.  Nothing serious.  So I'm good."

The brunet then turned his gaze to Hayato.

"You also got a concussion.  How are you?"

The silveret shrugged.

"Meh.  I'm fine."

Tsuna nodded and smiled in relief.

He glanced over at the others.

"No one else was hurt, right?"

Tsuna zeroed his gaze on Lal, who was being supported by Takeshi; she was currently awake.

"Lal-san...?"

The bluenette scoffed before smiling with slight fondness at the brunet.

"I just need to lay down for a bit, Sawada."

Lal frowned when Tsuna squinted at her withs suspicion.

"Seriously.  I'm fine."

Tsuna then proceeded to make a I'm-watching-you gesture; Lal rolled her eyes.

Ryohei pulled out a roll of bandages and started to patch up Tsuna's wound properly.

Lambo sat down in the brunet's lap, poking at Tsuna's right arm.

"How'd you get hit like that?"

"Ah.  That would be my fault."

Spanner waved lazily at the group.

"Name's Spanner.  I was about to get stabbed by a sword, but your boss saved me."

Everyone made small greetings of their own, not minding the mechanic's slightly abrupt appearance in the conversation.

Spanner handed a lollipop to Lambo, who accepted it with glee.

~~

The real Reborn along with Giannini were able to enter the building now.  Bianchi and Fuuta stayed behind to keep an eye on the Vongola HQ.

I-pin climbed off of Giannini's back and quickly ran up to hug Lambo.

"Lambo stupid!  I very worried!"

Despite her broken Japanese, Lambo understood as always and gave an obnoxious laugh.

"Gyahahahaha!  Lambo-sama took care of all of the bad guys, so Lambo-sama's fine, I-pin!  Gyahahaha!"

(O.D.D.- I-pin was supposed to go with Lambo in Kusakabe's backpack, but I decided to let her stay behind at the HQ--so Lambo could be bada** all he wanted.  d(=u= ))

Once Reborn set eyes on Tsuna, he whacked the brunet on the head; the Decimo couldn't help but notice that the hit was lighter than usual.

Reborn then proceeded to sit in Tsuna's fluffy hair.

~~

Shoichi revealed that the Vongola Guardians' future-selves were inside of the white device.

Tsuna then received his Box Weapon.

Shoichi explained the Arcobaleno Trials to the Decimo, who acted like it was the first time hearing about it.

Tsuna then looked at the orange box in his hand; he knew it was empty since Natsu was already with him.

He still needed to go through the Arcobaleno trials to put Natsu in the box though...

Tsuna hummed thoughtfully before looking over at Shoichi, who was preparing the white device to send them back temporarily.

"Shoichi-san."

The redhead jumped and looked over his shoulder as he continued his work.

"H-Hai?"

"Thanks for the help."

Shoichi widened his eyes with surprise before looking at the ground.

"....There's no need for thanks....I-I put you through a lot of trouble."

Tsuna grinned and pocketed his Box Weapon.

"Nah.  You've made us stronger." 'And I never got to thank you in my first timeline.'

Shoichi blushed before finishing his work on the machine.

A white glow surrounded the group that was about to leave; Lambo and I-pin sat on Tsuna's shoulders.

Shoichi, Spanner, Giannini and Lal watched as the teens slowly disappeared along with Reborn.

The redhead waved and called out.

"Good luck, Tsuna-san!"

The brunet smiled and waved back.

"Heh......it's always on my side, Shoichi-san."
