Chapter 22: Battle of the Lightning
"Gyahahaha! I-pin will be eaten by the Broccoli Monster!"
"Lambo, no!"
Tsuna chuckled as he watched his youngest Guardian play around with I-pin; he sighed softly before calling out to the child.
"Lambo-kun."
The said child stopped and immediately turned to Tsuna.
"Hai, Tsuna-nii?"
I-pin blinked in slight surprise at how fast Lambo responded; Tsuna gave a sheepish smile to the little girl.
"Ah. I-pin-chan, can you leave Lambo and I alone for a bit? I need to tell him something important."
I-pin hesitantly nodded her head before going back into the Sawada Household; Lambo hopped over to Tsuna and sat on his lap, lazy expression back on his face once I-pin was gone.
"What's up, Tsuna-nii?"
"You know your match is coming up tonight, right?"
"Yare, yare...I know, Tsuna-nii. I'm not that forgetful."
Tsuna chuckled as he ruffled the other's locks; sunset-orange eyes were filled with slight worry.
"It's just...your body, Lambo-kun."
"I'll just act like Reborn. You don't need to worry so much." Lambo waved his small arms around. "This can probably be my limiter when I fight."
"I see..."
Lambo closed both eyes before sighing.
"But I want Umbrella-man to win this one." Tsuna raised an eyebrow. "But I'll give him a fight of his life! Can I use the 10-year bazooka?"
Tsuna sighed before smiling softly.
"Fine...but be careful."
"Hai, hai, Tsuna-nii."
~~
Tsuna carried Lambo in his arms as he made his way to school with Reborn on his shoulder and Hayato and Takeshi at his sides; they were all wearing jackets as the rain fell heavily on them.
When they reached the school, Tsuna looked up at the top of the rooftop and could see the tip of the lightning rods up there.
The brunet couldn't help but hug Lambo tighter; he never liked the idea of sending his youngest Guardian into battle--even when it was sorely needed.
Tsuna blinked in surprise when he felt a small, warm hand on his own; he looked down to see electric-green eyes looking into his sunset-orange ones.
Lambo grinned brightly.
"You don't need to worry about me, Tsuna-nii. I am the Lightning Guardian of my Sky, Sawada Tsunayoshi. Trust me!"
Tsuna chuckled as he hugged his Lightning Guardian closely as they slowly made their way to the school.
"Arigatou, Lambo-kun."
~~
"Your opponent has arrived here 3 hours prior to your arrival."
Everyone looked up to the raised platform on the rooftop to find Levi standing there, arms crossed as he scowled at Tsuna's group.
Tsuna sighed before crouching down, releasing Lambo as the child hopped out of his arms.
"Gyahahaha! I'll be going, Tsuna-nii!"
Levi scoffed at Lambo's childishness.
"Is this who I'm fighting? Tch," Levi looked at Tsuna. "No wonder. The brat in charge of the baby is just a bunch of trash."
Crackle!
Levi widened his eyes in surprise as he jerked his head to the side to avoid a controlled spark of green electricity; his eyes immediately zoned in on Lambo, who was narrowing his eyes sharply at the man.
Lambo glared at the other as small sparks crackled around him.
"You can insult me. But never, ever, insult my Tsuna-nii."
The Varia--sans Xanxus--nearly gaped at Lambo from the killer intent the small child produced.
Lambo huffed as he dropped his childish act and regained his lazy slouch.
"Yare, yare...can we get on with the show?"
Reborn watched the Lightning Guardian with curiosity.
'Just add a green pacifier and Bovino Lambo could be mistaken as the Lightning Arcobaleno...'
~~
"May the Battle of the Lightning Guardian, start!"
Levi pulled out one of his parabola and immediately tried to stab Lambo with it.
The child sighed as he hopped over it and started to run up and onto Levi's arm.
Lambo smirked before sending a kick to Levi's head with a surprising amount of force--much like Reborn.
Levi was sent flying and crashing to the ground; he clutched his bleeding lip when he sat up.
'What the he**!?'
Lambo decided to switch back to his childish personality.
Tsuna and the others stifled their laughter when Lambo suddenly spun around and shook his butt in front of Levi.
"Bleh~! You suck at fighting~! Gyahahaha!"
Levi growled before standing up; his parabolas shot out from his back as they circled into the air.
Lambo didn't even flinch as the parabolas opened up and started to charge with electricity.
Levi pointed the parabola in his hand at the child.
"Levi Volta!"
Streams of lightning rushed forth from the parabolas in the air and struck at Lambo.
Tsuna clenched his hands tightly into fists.
'No. Lambo-kun isn't hurt. I must believe in him.'
The dust cleared, showing an unscathed Lambo, who was yawning into his hand.
"Yare, yare...let's take this to another level, yeah?"
Lambo pulled his 10-year bazooka out from his hair.
The child pointed it at himself and pulled the trigger; a cloud of pink smoke obscured everyone's vision.
On the side, Bel--the Varia's Storm Guardian--laughed eerily.
"Ushishishi~did the brat just go suicide?"
A silhouette of a taller figure was seen in the cloud of pink smoke.
"Yare, yare...looks like I'm back here again."
The teen-Lambo stepped out, waving his hand to dispel the smoke; he glanced over to Tsuna and waved lazily.
"Yo, Tsuna-nii."
Tsuna chuckled as he waved back.
"The lightning is about to strike, Lambo-kun."
CRACK!
Right when Tsuna finished his sentence, the lightning struck the lightning rods, causing the electricity to flow out through the ground.
Levi jumped and avoided the strike while Lambo simply stood there and took it.
Bel laughed.
"Ushishishi~the kid's dead."
"Eh~not quite."
The dust settled to show a completely fine Lambo, who was yawning lazily in his hand.
Suddenly, his hand crackled with green lighting; he placed his hand onto the ground.
"Elettrico Reverse."
Lightning burst forth from his hand and struck the ground.
Tsuna's side sweatdropped when Lambo accidentally destroyed all of the windows below.
Teen-Lambo realized his mistake and sweatdropped also.
"Ah, Kyoya-nii is going to kill me..."
Lambo sighed and ran hand through his hair as he looked at the shocked Levi.
"Well? Aren't you going to fight?"
Levi scowled and lunged at Lambo with his parabola.
The teen dodged and brought his old horns out.
"Thunder Set."
Lambo slid away from Levi and narrowed his eye--since one of them was closed--at the man; red lightning started to crackle at his horns.
"Elettrico Cornata."
Lambo smirked before charging head first at Levi with a surprising amount of speed.
Levi widened his eyes before blocking the attack, grunting at the amount of force that hit him.
Lambo continued to smirk before sighing.
"Hah...my time's almost up. It's your win, Umbrella-man."
Levi could only blink in confusion as a cloud of pink smoke appeared and child-Lambo appeared, sucking on a grape lollipop.
Levi didn't hesitate in striking him down--although he missed Lambo's smirk.
Bam!
When the dust settled, there stood Levi, who was struggling to keep standing on his feet; Lambo was unconscious by his feet.
"I...won...Boss..."
Levi collapsed and the Cervello announced him as the winner.
Xanxus smirked and told Gola Mosca to pick Levi up as the entire Varia disappeared in a cloud of smoke; the Cervello also disappeared.
When Tsuna's group was all alone, the brunet slowly made his way over to Lambo--not running.
Tsuna crouched down right next to the child and sighed.
"I know you're awake, Lambo-kun. You can stop playing dead."
There was a loud sigh as Tsuna chuckled, watching Lambo sit up; the child crossed his arms and pouted childishly.
"Aw...no drama? Not going to cry over me?"
Tsuna chuckled again and ruffled Lambo's hair.
"No. Because I believed in you, so I knew you were just fine."
Lambo grinned as he hopped into Tsuna's arms.
"Gyahahahaha! Let's go back home, Tsuna-nii! I want to eat Maman's cooking!"
On Tsuna's shoulder, Reborn shook his head in slight amazement.
'He's the true Lightning Guardian of this battle.'
