I ran through the trees, my brother in my hands as blood leaked from my side.

I was desperate to keep him safe, why did I have to use that book?! Because now the mark is apart of him. Apart of me...

I panted as I ran as fast as I could, our parents dead, our uncle dead, our sister dead...

And he was dying....The book hung lossly in my belt, tears in my eyes, this is all my damn fault! Why did I have to be so stupid

"Give up," I heard a voice chuckle, I couldn't see them, I just continued to run.

Until I reached a river...I stopped at the edge, the bridge across had rotted away years ago, when I was still a child. There was only one way to get across...

My hands shook as I pulled the book from my belt, I quickly flicked through it as I scanned every page, until I found it.

"Cronulla-patrella!" I shouted, light surrounded me and my brother and I heard the hiss of the creature chasing us.

Once the light faded we were on the opposite side of the river, I glanced over my shoulder and saw the silouhette of the creature, I then ran faster and faster.

Until I found a cave, but I knew I was not safe, that he was not safe...

I carefully put my brother down and looked through the book, until I found the healing spell our mother used on the ill in the village

But I knew this wouldn't work so I kept looking, until I found it...

A spell that would save him, but at a cost, my life and I was willing to do it, it would give me time to take him to the closest village, where I would take him, and my life will end...

But, that isn't the only cost, I wouldn't rest in peace like our family, but I will be apart of him always and once he dies... I'm gone...never to be seen or heard from again...

But I'd do anything for him...

"S-Sil-lver..." I barely heard him.

"Shh, you'll be ok, I promise..." I said quietly as I pet his head tears in my eyes.

He didn't reply as he was once again unconscious and barely breathing, I hurried and read through the spell

"Monacrell edria aquella" I said, the mark on my neck shone, and so did his, i felt and saw our souls intertwine together.

Once the spell was complete I felt weak and sick.

"Found you" I heard the beast chuckle

"Please...leave him alone" I begged, the beast paused and glanced at my brother, who was breathing normally again

"Here's the deal mortal...your already dying, but you will still be of use to me till then and i keep the book, and as long as he doesn't read that book and cast that same spell, he'll be safe, deal?" The creature chuckled

"D-deal" I stated, I gave him the book and he picked my brother up, I panicked until he grabbed my arm forcefully and took us to the village in the dead of night

"The hunt is over" the creature chuckled as he dumped me to the ground and carefully placed my brother on the ground by the door step of the building we were at

He remained unconscious

"I'm sorry Maurice..." I whispered to myself and to him

"Stand" I did as I was commanded and stood and everything went black and grey

[Five years later]

"Mephilies we can't stay long" my brother Shadow stated bitterly, it was the same as every other time

We hide and are found out, we were just settling into the new village as my brother's argued and complained

"Enough both of you!" I snapped at Eclipse and Malice, they both stopped and glared at me. "I expected better behaviour from the two of you"

"Well he started it!" Eclipse growled at me as he pointed at Malice.

I sighed and massaged my temples, this idea had been in my head the last few months, but I hadn't paid much attention to it because it could cause more trouble than none

"I'm heading into town, I need to try something," I stated, they all looked at me

"What's that supposed to mean?" Malice stated

"I'm going to get a mortal child" I explained

"You can't just take one from it's parents, we'll get killed!" Shadow growled.

"I meant an orphaned child, you and Eclipse aren't even related to me or Malice but I've taken care of the two of you, so zip it vampire" I glared down at him

"We never asked you to take care of us! Demon!" Eclipse growled

"Enough, my dission is final, I am adopting a mortal child and you three are not to harm it!" I snapped walking out the door, slamming it shut...

This is going to be a long day..
