I sighed as I walked in broad daylight, the sun didn't affect me like it did to Shadow, but it was other things such as the church in this village.

I kept walking as I thought more on my dession, I realised taking care of a mortal child would mean it would have to eat mortal food and to get mortal food was to get a job...damn it

I let out an aggregated sigh as I now stood in front of a building that had a sign on it saying orphanage

I growled quietly and walked in

"Oh, hello, are you new to Sparrow's Peak?" A mortal rabbit asked, I mentally cringed

"Yes, me and my brothers recently moved from Hellforge" I replied

"Well, my name is Vanilla and my how I be of service?" She asked

"I'm here to adopt a child" I answered

"Oh of course, is there anything specific you want?" She hummed, I had a think

"Someone that is well behaved and doesn't make much noise" I answered, Vanilla nodded and lead me to the back room

She told me to wait by the door, while she went to get the children

When she returned there was only one, a young blue hedgehog with bright emerald eyes, his clothes were much like the other children in this village, but one thing seemed rather odd, a mark in the shape of a two rings and an emerald was on his neck

"Is he the only one?" I questioned

"I'm afraid so, the other children tend to break the rules and cause a lot of noise..." She sighed, I glanced at the child, he didn't look up, guess he'll have to do

"What is his name?" I asked

"Maurice, but almost everyone calls him Sonic" Vanilla answered, I nodded

"Hunny, why don't you go pack your things" the mortal rabbit said as she got down in front of Maurice

He barely glanced at her before nodding and walking off

"Please treat him nicely, he's been through enough pain as it is" the mortal sighed

"What do you mean?" Not that I actually cared, but to remain undescovered

"He family was killed when he first arrived, told me that they were killed by a creature, and every time he's been adopted he's been beaten, but for some reason the entire family he is living with is killed, I just hope it doesn't happen to you and your brothers" the mortal sighed, I blinked and nodded slowly

Maurice or Sonic returned with a small bag, but remained quiet, an aura was radiating off of him, a warning of some sort

That's when I heard him mutter to himself

"Silver, please don't..." The mortal rabbit didn't hear him, what is up with this kid?
