Chapter 6
The next morning, I had the great fortune of waking up to the sound of a loud crash coming from down the hall. I shot straight up from where I laid. "Wh-what the heck was that...?!" In fear that perhaps a burglar had broken in, I grabbed a baseball bat and went tearing off towards the noise.
I was scared, but I timidly burst into the kitchen, my bat ready to strike. To my surprise, the attacker was none other than Avior. He stood as stone-faced as ever before a broken jar. In his arms, there was a struggling Reece. Lowering my bat, I gave him a look. "What on earth are you doing...?"
He looked over at me blankly. "Your Reece is trying to escape me."
I rolled my eyes and walked over to him. "Geez, it's the way you're holding him. Here. Like this."
Positioning his arms and tucking Reece in position, I successfully moved Avior to hold the cat correctly. In seconds, Reece had relaxed. Avior looked a little fascinated. "I see..." He awkwardly stroked Reece's head.
I watched him quietly. He really wasn't rough with him..
"... You like cats, huh...?"
Avior turned his eyes back to me. His face looked like that of someone with no memories. "... Like.... Cats...?"
The words sounded so foreign on his tongue as he seemed to try to understand. "... Y... Yes..."
I gave him a funny look.
This man...
Did he... Know how to feel at all...?
