Chapter 4 - Finding Kai

Pic of Kai's metal box lol ^^

Raziel's POV

"Cause we are living in a material world and I am a material girl. You know that we are living..." Kai's voice startles me awake. I try sitting up but quickly give up on that thought as every bone in my body cries out in protest at the slightest movement. I sigh. I guess my body needs more time to heal.

I glance around and notice I'm in some sort of crater which seems to have resulted from my crash landing to earth. I close my eyes and listen to Kai singing. He actually sings really well and his voice is a good distraction from the pain.

I wonder how far away I am from him. His voice is just as loud as when I heard it in heaven, just more present. In heaven I can only hear him this clearly when he's talking to my star. Once my body heals I'll go find him even if it's just to satisfy my curiosity. He intrigues me and from what he told my star he seems generous; this human could be of help to me.

Sleep beckons to my pained, broken body and I am engulfed by darkness as I drift out of consciousness.

*****************

My eyes shoot open at the sound of Kai screaming in pain. I sit up and stretch, grunting as I rearrange some of my bones that broke in the fall, popping them back into place.

I hear a low rumbling noise and I shoot to my feet assuming a defensive position. I hear it again and I look down at my stomach. Why is it making that noise? Why does it feel so empty? Is this what humans call hunger? I straighten up, focusing on Kai's voice. It sounds like he's in pain. I close my eyes, listening to his voice for a few seconds so that I can gauge his location and start running in his direction.

I wish I had my wings! Running is tedious when all I would have to do is flap my wings and I'd be transported next to him. I'm also going to need food, sleep and to shower to keep my body fresh, none of which I would need if I still had my wings!

Most angels who are banished die within the first few days of falling because they are unable to find humans who will help them. And yet God thinks I should value human life.

The loss of our wings makes us vulnerable. We still can't get diseases or be pierced by ordinary blades but we can die of hunger, dehydration, sleep deprivation and prolonged exposure to the elements. After we fall, we have 48 hours until our bodies become susceptible to the elements. Such is the damnation of fallen angels.

I run across the earth at the speed of sound, not even having time to see how earth has changed since I last visited 1,000 years ago.

Luckily we don't lose our other abilities when we fall. "Pink star, help me," Kai whispers. I speed up. Just a few more miles. I zip through the streets and finally skid to a halt in front of Kai. At least I think it's Kai since this is where his voice was coming from and he's the only person lying here unconscious but I'd have to hear his voice to confirm.

I look down at the small, very pale boy lying on the pavement. One side of his light pink hair is soaked in blood. I squat next to his body to get a closer look. His foot looks broken and so do several of his ribs and his breathing sounds shallow and strained.

I gently flip him onto his back and he whimpers in his unconscious state at the movement. I place one hand in the middle of his chest and the other on his leg, focusing on his injuries. My palms glow light pink, almost the same colour as his hair, I muse, as my hands heal him.

I cock my head to the side listening to the movement I hear behind me but ignore it, knowing that the spying human can't see me and I sense no danger from them.

His breathing steadies and I sit on the pavement next to him. "Why is he still so pale?" I murmur and reach out to touch his face. I immediately pull my hand back and slowly reach out to touch him again. His skin is the softest, smoothest thing I've ever touched! It's like touching the puff of a dandelion, incredibly soft and delicate.

I don't know how long I sat there stroking his cheek or why I sat there stroking his cheek. But eventually he starts to stir. I instantly retract my hand, make myself visible to him and watch him come to his senses.

He shivers and very slowly sits up. When his eyes land on my face, he stills. His gorgeous sky blue eyes stare at me for what feels like forever then he shuffles closer to me. He suddenly sticks his finger out and pokes my cheek. He gasps. "You're real?" He mutters through chattering teeth.

"Yes, my name is Raziel. I am an angel, in fact the one you call, Pink Star," I respond. My answer seems to startle him as he jumps backwards and hugs his knees close to his chest. His eyes drift up to the sky as if he's looking for something, then back to me.

"I saw the pink star fall from the sky!" He exclaims shuffling even farther away from me.

"Exactly, I was banished so my wings were taken from me. Consequently my star has been removed from the sky. What you saw was me falling from heaven." Why is he processing this so slowly!

He tugs his coat tighter around his body. "Maybe we can talk about this at your house where it's warm?" I suggest. I'm still concerned about his pale skin and he must be freezing! As a bonus, maybe I can get him to provide me with shelter during my stay on earth. And hopefully something to quiet my rumbling stomach!

He gets up from the pavement and fumbles around in his pocket until he finds tiny metal things. He walks, or maybe stumbles would be more accurate, to a big metal box that I'm pretty sure is called a car, gets in and starts it. I didn't really keep up with earthly happenings while I was in heaven so I know almost nothing about this world.

I continue to sit on the pavement watching his car. I scoff. Is he really going to leave me here! He seems too pure to be so cruel. A few minutes pass of him just sitting in the car before I hear him yell, "Are you not getting in?"

I walk to where his voice is coming from and stand there. Kai opens the metal box, giving me a weird look and beckons for me to follow him to the other side. He very slowly pulls a protruding bit of metal which opens the car.

"Get in," he says, and I scowl at him. I hate taking orders from humans! Nonetheless I comply, because I hear his stomach making the same rumbling noise that mine made earlier so maybe he'll get something to quiet his stomach and give me something to quiet mine!

"Can I get a number three combo but swap the drink for a strawberry shake?" Kai says into a metal talking box. Why is everything here made out of metal? My stomach makes that low rumbling noise again and Kai raises his eyebrows and giggles. "I'll have another of the same order."

He parks in the car park but leaves the car running and he hands me the food. I take a yellow rounded sphere out of the bag and bring it to my mouth. "Wait don't eat the paper!" Kai exclaims, taking my yummy smelling sphere away. My scowl at him turns to a smile when he hands the sphere back to me but now it's more colourful!

I take a huge bite and marvel at the taste. I hear Kai giggle. "So you like burgers," he says and unwraps his sphere, or burger as he called it.

I finish the burger then find some long fried sticks in the bag and devour them all. I frown. I'm still a little hungry. "Do you want the rest of my fries?" Kai says holding out his fried sticks to me. I glance at his burger that he's only taken 2 tiny bites out of. Kai giggles again and gives me his burger. I end up eating almost all of his meal! Now something to drink.

"There's strawberry milkshake in the cup,'' he says, taking up one of the cups and giving it to me after he stuck a long paper cylinder in it. I watch him as he takes a sip from the cylinder and I mimic his actions. I can't help the moan that escapes my lips as the sugary goodness fills my mouth. Who knew human food could be this good! I happily finish the entire thing!

"Are you really an angel?" Kai asks quietly once I finish my milkshake. I guess no more food for now, though I could probably drink another strawberry milkshake.

"Yes I am."

Kai gasps and a huge smile lights up his face. Wow he's even more beautiful when he smiles and I find myself smiling in return before I remember that he's just a pesky human.

They finally met! What did you think of this chapter? And how they met? And Raziel's reaction to the food? LOL
