So without further ado, the chapter-
It was Avalon.
She smiled at me with a perfect row of teeth before jutting a hand out at me.
"You must be Alexis. I've heard so much about you!" She exclaimed before sticking her hand in mine. Reluctantly, I shook her hand and I couldn't help but curse at how friendly she was.
Why couldn't she be a bitch?
Clearing my throat, I forced myself to utter the question that was currently plaguing my mind.
"Oh, thank you. What are you doing here?" I asked, but the smile remained on my face. I didn't want her to know I was upset.
She smiled at my question and opened her mouth to respond, but a voice interrupted her. A voice that I had become too familiar to.
"I asked her to come."
Aaron- he walked towards the door I watched as she patted his arm, making him smile at her.
Aaron's POV on why he had invited Avalon over

A mixture of dread and anticipation.
That's what Aaron felt as he lay on his bed, eyes looking up thoughtlessly to the ceiling. Today was the day he was going to see her again after so long; today was the day that Lexi would be over for a movie night.
He clenched his hands by his side as he thought of the last time that he had seen her. It had been right after she had been discharged out of the hospital and he had been dropping her home. Back then, he had wanted to say something to her.
"We seriously need to talk." He said feeling tense.
"Before, when I was leaving you in that hospital, you said something..." He trailed off and he saw Lexi visibly stiffen instantly, knowing she knew what he was talking about. That day in the hospital when he had left her; the day she had uttered those false words.
"Aaron, wait! I love you."
Those words she had said to get him to stay: words she knew would affect him. It had been a lie that she had uttered so callously and he had to leave her, at that moment, to regain his sanity.
She was all that consumed him, but she did not have a care to tell him of her illness; to confide in him with her miseries. No, all she did was hold him at arm's length and treated their relationship as what it was: a contractual agreement. It hurt him to think it, but he could see it now and it made him feel all the more solid on his decision.
He decided to not love her.
That wasn't to say he didn't love her; that was something he hadn't yet explored in all its entirety. But, he knew that loving her would only result in a hurt that he would not recover from. It was clear that she didn't feel strongly for him, so it would only damage his heart to pursue that which did not wish to be pursued.
"Well, I didn't have an answer then, but now I do." He finalised, looking down at her yet- as soon as he met her eyes- he felt his answer falter. Gazing at her again made him want to pursue her despite her attempts to rebuff him.
"My answer is that I-"
He sighed, turning on the bed so he was looking at the door. At the point in time, he had been interrupted by Avalon, so he was unable to come to a solid decision. His head hurt from thinking of what decision to make, all the more when he thought of Lexi's health. After all, it had only been a small while since her treatment. How was she feeling?
He had contemplated texting her to ask, but had let it be, knowing that she probably didn't want that. It was only today that he had found an excuse to call her due to him having Justin and Danny over for a movie night, he thought that Lexi could join as she hadn't seem them in so long.
He had held his breath when the phone had rung and lost it completely when she had answered with that soft voice of hers. It had taken him a moment to recompose himself before inviting her over and she had been happy to do, something he suspected was due to Danny and Justin.
Perhaps, seeing her in person would allow him to see how health has been faring, was a thought that consoled him and he let out a sigh as he stroked a hand through his hair. When, in his life, had he ever been so deep in his thoughts, stumped for words?
This was the first time in which he felt as though he was in a rut; lost at what decision to make. It was a horrible feeling, one that mirrored the ugly side of his obvious fondness for Lexi and it made sigh in frustration yet again.
"Stop." He muttered tiredly, speaking more so to his thoughts that wouldn't stop running around in his mind, but also to his rapid heartbeat that pumped in succession to the memory of her face. She had invaded him in all aspects now. He needed control, so he did just that, snapping back up to a sitting position and rubbing his face.
Instead, he turned his mind to the movie they'd watch tonight which most likely going to be Bridget Jones' Diary, if he knew his best friend. The thought made him smile as he turned his mind to snacks, but he couldn't help the impulsive way that his brain latched on to her. He couldn't help it as the image of her curling into his side, as they watched the movie, burned to his mind. He couldn't help but think of forgoing the snacks, just enjoying the taste of her mouth and p-
The doorbell rang, bringing him out of his heated thoughts and he stiffened, finally realising what he had been thinking. He couldn't ponder for too long as the doorbell rang again and he got up, making his way downstairs and to the door. As he went, he couldn't shake the desire of wanting it to be a certain doe-eyed girl on the other side, opening the door with anticipation.
His body stiffened but not due to previous reasons and he gazed down, wide-eyed, at the blonde girl from sordid memories.
Avalon.
She looked up to him with tears in her eyes, nose red and he found he hated the sight. It brought up the painful memories nestled so deep within him that he wished to hide from. So, he tried just that, moving to shut the door on her, but she pushed her foot in front before he could, with a small sob.
"Please, Aaron, just hear me out." She begged through sniffles and he couldn't help but scowl in response, tightening his hold on the door.
"Why? Give me one good reason why." He snipped back and she trembled slightly as she put a hand to her chest, the tears dropping down in clumsy streams.
"Can you not give me just a second, if not for the memories we shared together? Please." Her voice broke at the end and he sighed tiredly, biting his tongue to not mention the last memories he had of her, naked in another man's arms. That was in the past now and he didn't wish to rehash it, so he shook his head.
"There's nothing that you could possibly say that will change anything." He answered firmly and she let out a pained sigh, nodding her head.
"I know because I did something so terrible and I hurt you, but do I not deserve that second chance?! I was so young and immature!" She pleaded, her voice trying to desperately to reach out to him and the sound of her cries irked him, bringing up memories he no longer wished to have.
"Second chance for what? I'm not looking to get into a relationship with someone who cheated on me, so save your breath." He answered, glaring down at her and she flinched when he said 'cheated'. Nevertheless, she recomposed herself quickly, shaking her head as she leaned further into the door.
"I know that, so I can't possibly ask that from you again! I won't ask for a relationship: all I ask for is friendship. I ask to start over, Aaron, please give me that!" Her voice was hoarse as she ran her wet, green eyes along his face, trying to gauge his response. However, he wouldn't let her tears affect him anymore and he looked to the side, his face stern.
"I don't need a friendship like yours. I have my friends over tonight and that's all I need." He finalised and it was silent for a moment as he stared into the distance.
"Will that brown-haired girl that I saw with you before be here too?" Her voice was steady, tone indistinguishable and he snapped his gaze to her at the mention of his girl. Avalon watched him silently and he gathered himself, jaw clenching as he did so.
"Lexi... she'll be here too." He muttered more to himself and another silence passed as he thought of her leaning her head on his shoulder as they watched the movie. It was enough to make him place his hand on the door again and he turned to Avalon.
"I don't have time for this then. Don't come back." He ground out, moving to shut the door but her words stopped him short.
"Wouldn't Lexi be happier to have a girl around here she could call a friend?"
He paused then, holding the door tightly in his grip as he looked down at her with a scowl. He didn't take her using Lexi's name so lightly as something he was fond of but, still, her words had been something that had struck him in thought.
He hadn't ever thought if Lexi would prefer a close girl friend; he hadn't asked. Yes, she enjoyed Danny's and Justin's company, he knew that, but perhaps she wanted more. A more that she wasn't giving him.
"Shell have someone close to confide in like you have Justin; of course, there's some things that we only keep between the girls." Avalon continued, stood more into the entry and he thought of her words. It didn't take much persuading when he thought of Lexi's smile at his actions and he turned to look at her.
"And, Lexi will be happy?" He asked curiously to which Avalon pursed her lips before nodding.
"Very happy, so please forgive me, Aaron. Let me in again." Her voice turned soft again and eyes filled with fresh tears to which Aaron sighed.
"If I'm choosing to forgive you, I'm doing it for Lexi. And, only as a friend. I want nothing more from you, got it?" He questioned sternly and Avalon brooded for a moment before nodding slowly. Thinking of Lexi, he smiled, opening the door for her and Avalon perked up at this, entering the house.
"Lexi and the others will be over in an hour or so." He informed her and she nodded, looking around at the house that she had once spent so much time in.
"I'll make sure to give her a good first impression." Avalon spoke, looking to him with a smile and he nodded, looking to her with his dark ocean eyes in ways that made her fidget.
"Good because if she doesn't like you then I won't hesitate to make you leave."

Coming up for next week's chapter-
"That makes sense." She spoke so softly and it was only then when she smiled that Justin felt himself unravel. The control he had tried to keep disappeared within a fraction of a second as he leaned forward swiftly, grabbing the back of her head gently and pressing his lips softly against her own.
If she opposed him, she didn't show it. Rather, it was the opposite. She tensed for a split second before her shoulders relaxed and she moved her lips against his own. If there even a slight nanometer of control left in Justin, it was destroyed immediately at her response and he buried his hand deep into her soft hair. His other hand rested against her cheek, tilting her face so he could have more of her- her heat and the sound of her breathing. He kissed her until all thought was forgotten, until her eyes had dried up and all she could smell was his icy scent.
Then suddenly, as though hit by a hot poker, she pushed at his chest, moving him away with wide eyes.
"Oh my g- we shouldn't have- I shouldn't have done that." She stuttered out through heavy breaths, and- just as he opened his mouth to speak- she quickly stood up and ran to the door.
