Chapter Ten ☆

Here it was. Presentation day. The day that everybody dreaded, and wish they could push back further and further. Class 1-A was spread out throughout the classroom, murmuring amongst themselves and trying to get each other to calm down.

Momo was sitting at her desk, leaning back and gazing up at Uraraka, who was practically bouncing up and down.

"SO- how's the crush?" she asked, lightly punching Momo in the shoulder.

"Stop calling him that..." Momo hissed back to her, glancing past Uraraka and over to Todoroki. He was talking to Midoriya, his usual pissed-off looking faced showing off. "He's fine. We've been talking more."

"That's good. No offense, but you and Midoriya are pretty much the only people he talks to." Uraraka whispered, shrugging. "I mean- you obviously know him better than I do, so he probably has his reasons."

Momo nodded, letting out a sigh. "Yeah, he does."

A few moments of silence passed, and Uraraka twirled around to glance at the boys they were discussing. "Hey, I think they're talking about you," she informed, turning back to Momo for a second.

"...W-what? How do you know?" Momo tried to hide the blush spreading across her face, leaning forward and putting a hand over her cheek.

"Well... They keep glancing over to you." Momo lifted her head and gazed over to Todoroki. Sure enough, every few seconds, he and Midoriya would cast their eyes over to Momo before continuing his conversation.

"You should get up and talk to him," Uraraka suggested. She grabbed Momo's arm and pulled her up to her feet. "Maybe see what he thinks about the presentation."

"I-I already know what he thinks," Momo muttered, stumbling as she stood up. "He hates presenting,"

"What else do you talk about?"

"...Not much."

"Wow."

"Alright, you know what-" Momo took a deep breath and dropped her voice to a whisper. "He's not the most talkative person, cut him some slack."

"Yeah, I guess." Uraraka nodded. All of a sudden, Momo felt a tap on her shoulder. She jumped slightly and spun around to see Kaminari and Kirishima standing behind her, awkward smiles plastered on their faces.

"Oh, hey guys," Momo greeted them.

Kirishima cleared his throat. "Hi Momo, I was just wondering- since you're pretty much the smartest kid in the class... could you help Kaminari and me with our presentation?" he chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.

A large grin spread across Momo's face; she absolutely adored teaching others. "Of course! What do you need help with?"

Kaminari let out a sigh of relief. "Thank God, I could not fail another project. Okay, we just need some tips to make ourselves look prepared, and not like assholes," he explained to her, Kirishima nodding behind him.

Momo shrugged. "Just read what you have prepared..." she rolled her eyes. "And knowing you guys, I'm assuming you've got nothing?"

"Wow... how'd you guess?" Kirishima chuckled awkwardly.

A/N: I don't know if you guys are wondering this but Bakugou is working with Sero.

"Just a hunch." Momo chuckled. She swiped a strand of hair behind her ear as she crossed her arms. "I'm just gonna gloss over the fact that you guys had over two weeks to finish this project, but that's fine. Just improvise, you two are great at that." Kaminari widened his eyes, pretending to be hurt by that obvious comment. "Try to make some jokes along the way. Get the audience to pay attention."

"Got it," Kirishima smiled, his pointy teeth showing. "Thanks a lot, Momo!"

"Yeah, thanks," Kaminari pointed finger guns at Momo. "Without you, we'd probably fail again."

Momo shrugged again. "Don't mention it," she waved at the two students as they turned and retreated back to the other side of the classroom.

"I think someone's jealous," Uraraka whispered in Momo's ear suddenly. Taking a deep breath, Momo peered in the direction that Uraraka was talking about and saw Todoroki leaning against the wall. His arms were crossed as his eyes narrowed and followed Kaminari and Kirishima. His lips were slightly pulled into a frown, and Momo widened her eyes.

"He looks pissed," she whispered.

"Doesn't he always?"

"Shut up."

Uraraka rolled her eyes slightly. "Momo, come on, I'm pretty sure Aizawa's gonna walk- or roll in pretty soon. You should go talk to him while you have the chance." she shoved her friend forward slightly.

"What am I gonna say?" Momo bit her bottom lip, staring down at the floor.

"I don't know! Talk about the project! This is Shouto Todoroki we're talking about, not a monster." Uraraka chuckled a little. "I mean, I don't know about that last part, but,"

"Fine." Momo groaned. "I'll talk to him if you never call him a monster again." she narrowed her dark eyes at Uraraka.

"Ooh, somebody's getting defensive over their crush." Uraraka raised her eyebrows and dramatically put her hands on her cheeks.

"Be quiet, Ochako."

Swallowing back her anxiety, Momo took a deep breath and headed across the classroom. Todoroki's eyes were still locked on Kirishima and Kaminari until he saw Momo walking towards him. He glanced over at her, turning his head away from the two boys he was glaring at.

As soon as his dual-colored eyes landed on her, Momo felt her voice get caught in her throat. Her heart began to beat faster, and when she was a few feet away, Momo leaned against one of the desks, trying to seem less awkward.

"Hey," she let out a deep breath, the heat in her cheeks rising. "Today's the day, I guess."

"Yeah." he responded, staring down at the floor. Momo felt her heart falter in her chest.

Shit... is he mad at me? she thought, anxiety rising through her. Closing her eyes, Momo gave herself a moment to calm down. "I-I just wanted to apologize about my parents the other day. It just wasn't a good time, and-"

"It's fine, don't worry about it." Todoroki uncrossed his arms and shoved his hands in his pockets, shifting on his feet. "I'm sorry they fight so much."

How can somebody be so sweet and such an asshole at the same time...? Momo thought hopelessly. Before she could continue, she heard Aizawa enter the room. Surprisingly, he wasn't settled in his sleeping bag.

As the teacher walked towards the podium at the front of the room, the whole class went silent. He cleared his throat and let out a deep breath, his eyes sunken in from a lack of sleep. "Hey, guys. As you know, today's presentation day. Because of this, I expect all of your projects to be complete." he glanced at Kaminari and Kirishima in the corner, who were silently freaking out. "Anyway, there is one thing I didn't tell you,"

The entire class halted their breathing. Momo straightened up, and everyone seemed to be more nervous, except for Todoroki.

"The Pro Heroes that you guys have created your projects about are going to watch you present. I didn't tell you guys until now, because I knew that you'd freak out." Aizawa announced. "For example, Present Mic, Midnight, Hawks, and Endeavor are going to be here."

Momo glanced to the side when she saw Todoroki tense up. His eyes widened slightly, and he grit his teeth in annoyance. He turned his head the other direction and bit his lip, and Momo could see the anger rising in him.

"Now, I'm going to give you guys five minutes to prepare your presentations. For now, here are the heroes." he slowly stepped away from his pedestal as the Pro Heroes walked in.

Present Mic launched himself into the room, raising his hands in the air and cheering. Most of the students clapped, and after him, Midnight waltzed in. Her hands were raised behind her head and she winked at a few of the students, following Mic into the front of the room. The next hero that entered was Hawks. With about the same amount of energy as Present Mic, he flew in through the narrow doorway, his vermillion wings cutting through the air. The chains he wore around his neck jingled as he waved to the students before landing beside the other teachers.

"Ugh." Momo heard Todoroki snarl as Endeavor slowly walked in. Large flames crackled around his jaw and over his mouth, and he glanced around the room slowly. His ice blue eyes pierced through every student, locking on Momo for a bit longer than the others. Finally, his gaze landed on his son. Todoroki stared back, his narrow eyes full of hatred and challenge. The whole room was silent until Aizawa cleared his throat.

"I'd suggest that you guys use this time for rehearsing instead of staring." his voice had a hint of annoyance in it, and the whole class erupted into small murmurs after he finished talking.

"Todoroki," Momo rose up from the desk and walked closer to him, her voice quiet. "Are you gonna be okay with this?" she asked gently.

For a few seconds, he didn't respond. He looked his father up and down for a second, before glancing back at Momo. "You're reading Da-" he stopped himself almost immediately, his face falling into a look of pure disgust. "You're reading Endeavor's chapter, right?"

"Yeah, I am."

"Good."

All of a sudden, Endeavor began to walk over to Momo and Todoroki. His hands were clenched into fists, and the flames covering his shoes billowed out as he took each step. Momo gazed at him, straightening up and trying to look as respectful as possible. On the other hand, Todoroki slouched over and rolled his eyes.

"Shouto," Endeavor's low voice growled. "Do well on the presentation." Each word he spoke was drawn out, and it sent a chill down Momo's spine. Endeavor reached out a hand to Shouto as if he was reaching for his scar. For a split second, Shouto's eyes widened as he ducked away from his father and shifted closer to Momo until the sleeves of their blazers brushed against each other.

"Don't touch me." Shouto spat. Momo could feel the tension rise in the air between Endeavor and Shouto, and she instinctively grabbed Shouto's wrist and pulled him closer to her.

"Come on, Shouto," Momo felt her heart skip when she used his first name for the first time. "Let's rehearse." she gently pulled him away from his father, and to her relief, he didn't resist.

Endeavor narrowed his eyes and turned away, striding back to the other teachers. When Momo was far enough away, she reluctantly released Todoroki's arm from her grasp and let out a sigh.

"I'm sorry." Todoroki murmured, staring at the floor and turning towards her.

"...For what?"

"For getting upset."

Momo chewed her bottom lip and shook her head, lifting her hand and slowly resting it on Todoroki's shoulder. "You have every right to be upset with your father. I just pulled you away because I didn't want anything bad to happen." she took a deep breath and took her hand off his shoulder. "I'm sorry for grabbing you. I know you don't like people grabbing you from behind, and that's okay too. It's just from what you've been through."

Letting out a sigh, Momo glanced past Todoroki and saw Uraraka practically freaking out. She was frantically pointing towards Todoroki, her eyes wide. She was mouthing something important, and it looked to be along the lines of: "HE'S BLUSHING!"

Momo glanced back at Todoroki, and sure enough, there was a light dusting of pink along his face. He was staring at the floor, and Momo let a smile spread across her face. It was adorable.

"Todoroki," Momo murmured. His eyes flickered up from the floor onto her. "No matter what your father says, we're gonna nail this presentation. Okay?" she assured him.

"Okay," Todoroki let out a deep breath, the corners of his lips tugging upwards into a small smile.

He's so cute.

Hey guys! This chapter was pretty long compared to the others, which is what I wanted. I hope you're enjoying this story because it's a lot of fun to write. <3

IMPORTANT:

I'm fully aware that in the recent manga chapters, Endeavor is trying to be a better father towards his children. Even though Shouto's not that accepting of it, at least he's trying. However, for the sake of this story, I was considering for him to still be kind of an asshole. Which one would you guys prefer? So far I've been having him follow the meaner route, but I could easily switch that around. It's whatever you guys prefer. :)
