Chapter Fourteen ☆

The city looked absolutely stunning as Shouto and Momo continued to stroll back to his house. Different colored lights were dazzling in puddles on the street, and the stars were glinting beautifully above. Momo found herself staring breathtakingly at the sky, oblivious to Todoroki gazing at her with a grin on his face.

For a while, all that could be heard was the sound of their footsteps and the distant sound of cars rolling on the street. Everything seemed quiet and calm, but something also felt... off.

It felt as though somebody was staring at Momo. She could feel the burning sensation of somebody's cold eyes locked on her, and it made her steps falter awkwardly as she walked. Snapping out of her distracted gaze, she glanced over her shoulder and narrowed her eyes.

"Is something wrong?" Todoroki stopped walking and turned to her, his eyes glinting with confusion.

"Is somebody following us?" Momo whispered, her voice barely audible as she tried to keep her voice soft.

An empty gust of wind blew past. It made a chill run down Momo's spine. Todoroki let his eyes drift across the street behind them, scanning for any sign of a person.

Everything seemed fine. He didn't know why Momo was so jumpy- that was until he saw what looked like a shadow slip from behind a lamp post and seemingly vanish, right before his eyes.

"Shit," Todoroki whispered.

Momo let out a gasp as she felt Todoroki grab her hand and begin to drag her down the street. She followed his sprinting footsteps instinctively, panic already rising inside her.

"What? Did you see something?"

"I just-" Todoroki shook his head, trying to shoot another glance over his shoulder. "Just keep running!"

Momo swallowed, not sure if she should be scared or worried. They sprinted down the sidewalk, the wind causing Momo's hair to wave around in the wind. The cold air caused her eyes to well up with tears, and she wiped them away with her free hand.

As the pair was running past an opening in between two buildings, Momo felt rough arms slide around her waist and roughly pull her back. She let out a shriek of terror as her hand slipped away from Todoroki's and she felt her back collide with a stranger's chest.

"SHOUTO!" Momo cried, struggling against the arms that were wrapped around her. She was too riled up to even check who was holding her, but every time she squirmed, the grip grew tighter and harder to resist. She felt herself being pulled down the alley, her feet dragging hopelessly on the stone ground underneath her.

"Let go of me!" Momo snarled. She attempted to lift up her arm and elbow who was gripping her, but her captor grabbed her wrist with an iron grip.

"No thanks, dollface," A husky voice whispered in Momo's ear, and she shivered as her captor's hot breath fanned her neck.

Still struggling against his grip, Momo leaned forward and turned her head, finally getting a good look at who had grabbed her.

It was a tall man with dark, messy hair, and dazzling blue eyes. He had a dark aura about him, with an intimidating smirk and an eerily gravely voice. The most striking part about him was the purple scars that were scattered underneath his eyes, jaw, and chest. Momo glanced down and saw the same purple scars on most of his arm as well.

"Who are you?" Momo whispered through gritted teeth, trying to hide her fear. What scared her most was that Todoroki hadn't followed her. Did he not know she was taken? No, he had to. Did he just ignore her? He wouldn't do that, right?

As her thoughts began to run wild, she was only brought back to reality when the dark-haired male leaned forward, an evil smirk spread across his face. His arms were still tight around Momo's body, and she hissed at the uncomfortable feeling.

"I'm not obligated to tell you, am I?" he chuckled, his voice rumbling deep in his throat. "You don't need to know who I am, sweetie."

Trying to keep it as secret as possible, Momo tried to create a knife. She thought about the steel blade and wooden handle, which should be easy to create. It was a small enough object that didn't consume too much of her fat cells.

Still trembling in the arms of the dark-haired man, Momo felt the knife begin to materialize underneath her arm so that he wouldn't see it. Taking a deep breath, she steadily moved her left hand slightly to grab the knife, holding tightly onto the handle.

After a few more seconds of hesitation, Momo let out a deep breath and let her body go limp for a moment, reluctantly relaxing into the stranger's arms. After she felt his grip slack, just the slightest, Momo shot out her left hand and felt the knife slice into the man's arm. Pushing backwards, Momo felt him stumble in the wall behind him. After feeling his arms disappear from her waist, she leaped forward and whipped around, her knife still trained on the violent stranger.

Gazing down at his arm, now dripping with blood, the man shook his head and let out a quiet chuckle. Looking up at Momo, she felt her heart skip a few beats as the moonlight shone just right on his cerulean eyes. They were the exact same shade as Shouto's, which caused her voice to get caught in her throat.

"You know," the man took a step forward, and Momo felt her body tremble. "you really shouldn't have done that, princess."

Before she had a chance to react, a wave of scalding blue flames shot out of the man's palm. She knelt down and jumped to the right, just narrowly avoiding the attack. However, a few strands of her hair got caught in the heat and quickly succumbed to the flames.

Trying not to act like he was pissed that Momo survived, the man rolled his eyes. "You're a U.A. kid, right?" Momo didn't even give a response before he laughed again. "God, how I hate you guys."

A rumbling sound could be heard from behind Momo, and she felt the ground begin to shake beneath her. A freezing gust of wind swept by her suddenly, and she gasped when a massive ice wall rose up beside her. It trapped the man between the ice and the wall behind him.

Turning around, Momo saw Todoroki standing at the entrance to the alleyway. She felt tears of relief well up in her eyes and ran towards him, wrapping her arms around his neck and burying her face in his shoulder.

"Thank you," she whispered, ashamed that she would even think of him abandoning her.

Todoroki hugged her back, his heart swelling up. After a second or two, they broke away, and Todoroki spoke. "I only bought us some time, so we have to get out of here fast."

"Hmph." Another voice sounded from behind Shouto, and the two turned to see another figure appear out of the shadows.

As the new stranger stepped into the moonlight, Momo narrowed her eyes. He had stringy, light blue hair, and was wearing all black. Objects that looked like hands covered his entire body, including one that obscured most of his face, besides two beady red eyes that peered out behind it. Momo inched closer to Shouto, who tensed up at the strange figure in front of them.

"You two aren't going anywhere~" the figure rasped, reaching up and scratching the side of his neck.

Momo heard a crash behind her, and turned to see that the raven-haired man had broken down Todoroki's ice wall with the heat of his flames. He took a few threatening steps towards them, so that they were trapped.

"Damn," the raven-haired male spoke as Todoroki turned to face him. "Shouto Todoroki, you look like you've been through Hell and back, no?" he quirked an eyebrow, and Momo saw Todoroki clench his fists at the comment.

"Wow, look at that scar," the ravenette commented, obviously knowing he was pissing Todoroki off. "Looks like you weren't such a mama's boy after all, huh?"

Todoroki looked as confused as Momo felt. She was about to open her mouth and ask what he meant when she felt a chilling hand grabbed her by the arm. Suddenly she was forced backwards by the man with the light blue hair, and he cupped his hand over her mouth, keeping both pinky fingers lifted on both hands.

Momo thrashed against his grip, but when the hand on her arm gripped her with all five fingers, she let out a screech of pain into the hand on her mouth. It felt like somebody had taken a knife and driven it straight through her skin. Blood began to bubble around his palm, and she felt tears begin to form at the corner of her eyes at the excruciating pain. Her legs grew shaky as the strength left them, and as both of the man's hands left her, she collapsed to the ground.

Shouto rushed over and gently grabbed Momo's arm, helping her to stand. She grabbed onto his jacket and pulled herself up, leaning on him to stabilize herself.

"Who are you guys?" Shouto backed up until his back hit the stone wall on one side of the alley. He narrowed his eyes and grit his teeth, his gaze traveling from one stranger to the other.

"You see, Shouto," the dark-haired male smirked. "That's not important right now. What we want is your heads on spikes, but," he lifted up a palm, a small blue flame emulating above his skin. "We'll get into the details later."

Momo tensed up, ready for him to strike. She was far too weak to fight right now, or use her quirk at all. Blood still dripped from her arm onto the ground as she turned her head and buried her face in Todoroki's arm, preparing for pain.

Todoroki must have been thinking the same thing, because his grip on Momo tightened, and she suddenly felt his breath on the top of her head.

Just before the two strangers could strike, a loud rumble could be heard from on top of a building. Momo opened her eyes slightly and saw a cloud of orange flames explode from a certain figure, striking the ground just in front of the group of four.

As the flames and smoke died down, Momo saw a tall figure standing atop the building. Her brain didn't register who it was until a deep, intimidating voice cut through the night air.

"Step away from my son. Now."  Endeavor's blue eyes burned into the two strangers in front of them.

"Well, well, well," the man with beady red eyes and blue hair spoke, his voice like nails on a chalkboard to Momo. "Looks like we've got company,"

Endeavor said something else, but Momo couldn't even decipher it. Her arm was still oozing with blood, and with her legs still weak, she felt herself begin to feel dizzy. Trying to fight back the urge to pass out, she blinked a few times and glanced up.

"Shouto," Endeavor growled. He ran forward and leaped upwards, landing skillfully on the ground in front of them. "I want you to go. Let me deal with this."

Todoroki narrowed his eyes and shook his head. "I'm not gonna let you-"

Endeavor stepped forward, raising his voice and malice glinting in his eyes. "It wasn't a question!" he snarled.

Shouto flinched back, closing his eyes and his head hitting the wall behind him. Without another argument. Momo grabbed onto his jacket again and took a wobbly step back towards the road. Todoroki grabbed her arm and put it around his shoulders, watching with pity as she limped beside him.

"W-who were they?" Momo coughed, glancing over her shoulder as the two began to hurry away. Endeavor was getting angrier, she could tell by the way the flames around his shoulders grew hotter and more intense.

"I don't know," Todoroki shook his head. "I fucking hate whoever they are."

"It- it sounded like that one guy knew who you were..." Momo suggested, coughing after she spoke.

"I know, that's why it creeped me out so much..." he murmured. Glancing back towards Momo, he let out a sigh. "When we get to my house, I'll fix up your wound. I promise."

Momo felt her eyelids grow heavy, and as she took another unsteady step forward, she felt the entire world go black around her as her legs gave out and she crumpled to the ground.
