Katy sat on the old tree log and it was covered in more moss than before. It was so looking so overgrown than before she went to the hospital. Katy called out Merla and she didn't answer. Merla always answers. Maybe she was upset that I wasn't here for a few days. I felt bad that I had to leave her but it wasn't my fault. Katy wanted to let her what happened but it was hard for me to talk at all without catching my breath.

Katy sat there waiting for Merla to show up and she felt alone and upset. She might never see Merla again. Then she saw a raven on a tree branch with a transparent body. It was Merla. The raven flew to the ground and turned into a human and it was Merla. She looked at Katy with tears running down her face and a look of worriedness. Katy smiled and took a deep breath as blood seeped through her lips.

Merla was happy but worried at the same time. This wasn't right and Merla knew that Katy need someone to trust at this moment. Merla was focused on not being able to say goodbye to Katy and not being there for her. Katy needs Merla more than ever. Katy coughed again and Merla went to sit next to her. She put her arm around Katy and she was shaking like crazy. Merla felt so bad as she ran her fingers through Katy's hair.

Katy smiled and Merla took a deep breath and spoke.

"What are you doing back here Katy?" Merla asked with concern.

"I wanted to see you again," Katy replied.

"Sweetheart you're not well," Merla mentioned.

"Am I going to die Merla?" Katy asked with a sigh.

"You'll be safe Katy," Merla answered.

Katy put her head on Merla's shoulder and she closed her eyes slowly. Merla smiled and leaned her head on hers and closed her eyes. As they slowly drifted off to a unwakable sleep. Katy died on that night of her birthday as Merla's dead body appeared with Katy. As her soul dissolved into the air.
