[ 13 DAYS LATER ]

•✧ JENNIE'S POV ✧•

Her eyes were fixed on the laptop screen, opened notebooks and text books were placed in front of her on the desk. She was continuously swinging the pencil in her hand when it suddenly fell out of her grip making her eyes that were focused on the screen divert towards her notebook.

A tired sigh escaped her mouth as she placed her head down on the book. She had been staring at the laptop for too long and now her eyes were hurting, the headache making it worse. She was working on the assignment that the substitute teacher gave her class to work on. The due date was tomorrow, her work was almost done but she was tired now.

Her roommates that were sitting in front of their desks were also focused on their laptop and books, there was a pin drop silence in the room that was bothering Jennie for some reason.

" Aren't you guys tired? " - Somi spoke, turning around as her eyes fell on her roommate.

" I'm still not done. It's tiring but we have to do it." - Jennie replied before pulling herself together once again.

She stretched herself and groaned when her muscles ached because of the soreness. After hitting her shoulders with her fist a couple of times, she took the pencil in her hand again and started writing in her notebook.

" Shouldn't we take a break, at least? " - Asked Juda, making her friends look at her.

" Should we? " - This time she gave in, agreeing that they did actually need a break.

" Let's go to the cafeteria and grab something to drink, a walk outside won't hurt right? "

The three of them immediately closed their laptops and books as they got up from their chairs. They showed the same amount of tiredness as they had been working for 3 hours straight.

" I didn't know there were ice creams here. " - Juda mumbled as she licked her vanilla cone.

The other two replied with hums as they were busy enjoying the atmosphere and the cones in their hands, the weather was cold as November was already here.

A soft sigh left Jennie's mouth, her thoughts were occupied by one singular person and she couldn't deny that she was missing him. It had been 2 weeks already, she wasn't sure if he was gonna come back tomorrow or not. The way she was feeling empty was bothering her as she wondered, why did she get attached to him in a short period of time?

The cold wind brushed along her skin as she felt a wave of shiver running through her body. She was lost in her thoughts when she had a sudden flashback..

' Am I special to you? '

She didn't have an answer for that. Has he really become close to her heart? She will forget about him after leaving the Military, right?

That wasn't true. She won't forget him even after years based on how he was on her mind even though he wasn't there for 2 entire weeks. What was happening to her? Why was her mind only filled with him?

" Wait- look! Isn't that the Military Jet? " - Somi suddenly yelled making Jennie startled.

She followed Somi's gaze as she tilted her head to look at the sky, her eyes immediately widened when she recognized the Jet. It was the same one he boarded.

" Is it gonna land here? " - Juda's question went unnoticed by Jennie as her gaze was stuck on the plane which was heading downwards, ready to land.

" Obviously, Juda. I think Commander Kim's in it. " - Their voices sounded muffled to her, her focus was on something else.

Her heart started pounding for an unknown reason as she had a strange feeling as if something bad had happened or was about to happen.

" Something's wrong. " - She mumbled to herself when the Jet was out of her sight. It had already landed on the runway at the back of the buildings.

Without thinking twice, she threw the cone that was in her hand making her friends confused. Their emotions instantly changed to shock when she suddenly ran towards the dark path that led to the grounds on the backside.

" Jennie! You can't go there! "

Her steps halted behind a certain wall as she watched the Soldiers rushing out of the Jet, they seemed panicked and that made her anxiety level rise. Her breathing wasn't normal due to the run she made to get here.

A sudden silence surrounded her ears as she was having flashbacks of her worst memories, it felt like the silence before the storm. Her eyes were stuck to one particular figure that was being carried by two soldiers, his clothes were drenched with blood and he wasn't aware of his surroundings.

It was him..

⋯ FLASHBACK ⋯

" I'm going to be fine my little pumpkin. Don't worry about me." - The Man that was dressed in Military uniform assured his daughter that stood next to him with wet eyes.

" I-i'm scared. " - The highschooler stared into her father's eyes with worry.

" Aigoo, don't be. I told you I'll be fine. " - She nodded, trying to stop herself from getting emotional.

Her father gave her one last hug before he departed to the Jet while she watched him leave. She kept telling herself that he was going to be fine.

But her heart was telling her otherwise, and whatever her heart said turned out to be true.

Because something worse than her imagination happened.

The hug that her father gave her as a comfort, that kiss he planted on her forehead every morning.. the man that she used to call her entire world, everything was gone.

Her entire world crumbled before her eyes.. the only things that survived were his memories.

" October 15th, 2017. At 2:25 AM. Mister Kim Daehyun has departed this world. "

He left her alone in the cruel world she lived in.
