Chapter 3: Minecraft School
For the love of health, I have never been so nervous before. I have checked the schedule out, and literally, two days after today will be the auditions for the local army. I aimed for a spot there, in hopes I can find something there.
I studied my now somewhat tanned arms and headed out toward the direction of the town.
I just headed out for less than 200 blocks when I heard voices to my right. Three people, from the voices- two boys and a girl all around my age. I put my head down and tried to stay out of their sight. I couldn't help but listen in on their conversation, however.
"Jayden! That was the worst thing you could have done!" The girl was saying
"Well, that was the only choice I had at the time. I would have failed the test if I didn't" the boy- Jayden I assumed, replied.
"Then why didn't you study!" The girl shouted.
"Because I didn't have time! I was practicing for the exams for the army that they are assembling! I have to impress general William in order to get a good spot in the team- and to win his favor of course." Jayden replied
I walked ahead of them, turning a curve so they wouldn't see me among the trees. Several minutes later, there was a clearing and a gate to the town, they searched me, and let me in.
I headed straight for the school building, and I arrived just in time to slip into my seat. The two boy sat behind me, and the girl sat next to the other boy, still laughing.
"Alright settle down, settle down." The teacher sighed. "We have a new student. Stand up, don't be shy" He yawned.
I stood up and all eyes were on me, I cleared my throat.
"My name is Amythest," I said simply, and the three kids behind me snickered.
"Yes, of course. Tell us a little about yourself, hobbies if any?" The teacher asked.
"I'm pretty good with a sword," I replied, really talking to the teacher rather than addressing the class.
"HA RIGHT" The boy behind me- Jayden- laughed. "No way you're good with a sword. Not only you're a girl, you look like you'll barely able to lift up a wooden sword, much less swing it!" he howled in laughter, and the class followed in his example. I felt my face get hot, how dare the little birc-
"Alright, alright, settle down. Jayden that was uncalled for. Girls can be great sword fighters as well." The teacher replied.
"Then why haven't we seen one?"
"Actually, we have. Maybe you'll pay attention in class next time rather than brag around how good of a sword fighter you are. Amythest, you may sit down." The teacher said sternly.
Jayden huffed in defeat and sulked back into his chair.
We opened some books and the teacher droned on and on about some dude in yellow and the great achievements he did like I could care anymore that I can. I fiddled around with my feather quill, not paying attention to a word he's saying.
The class finally ended, and we had several minutes to wander around before the next class started. As I got my stuff ready, several girls ran toward me- no not to me, but toward in my direction. They blew past me and ran straight for Jayden.
"Jayden!" One squealed.
"You said that yesterday you would bring your iron sword to school and show it to us during lunch! Did you bring it?" Another asked.
"Of course I did! Such a good swordsman like me has to have an Iron Sword. My father bought me it in the blacksmith shop himself." Jayden said.
"That's so cool! We have to stick to stone ones- my dad wouldn't even let me touch one." A girl mourned.
"Ah, that's alright, If you ever need help, call me! I'll slice them up! Right new girl?" He turned toward me all of a sudden, right as I was about to leave.
I turned around and gave him a look of fake confusion "What?"
"Ah, you wouldn't understand anyway, considering you claim you're good with a sword. Ha! I doubt it!" He laughed, and the girls joined along like some sick puppet.
"Better than you, I am sure." I replied and he laughed even harder.
"And she claims she's better than me!"
of course you idiot. There is a reason why I was taught by the best in the nether.
"Yes, I just did. Do you have a problem?"
"Yes! Because no way a girl like you can fight! Go back and go pick some flowers." He howled in laughter.
I crossed my arms.
"But what if I beat you in a sword fight?" I asked, and he stopped suddenly. "We have physical education next, and if i'm not mistaken, we are allowed to swordplay in there, correct?"
"Yeah. Is that a challenge, new girl?"
"Yes, it is. Are you too scared to accept the challenge?" I taunted, and he turned red.
"Challenge accepted!" he shouted and stormed off.
"I say you watch your back new girl." A girl sneered. "He's the best swordsman in this school"
"Because the school has never met me" I replied, and left; with my nose high up in the air.
