Chapter 11: Rumors
-_The next following week_-
We were the first ones who finished the assignment, which lead to a lot of people thinking we cheated.
Jayden and his group of goons came in four days after we did, and when he saw us reclining on the grass, fooling around, he walked over to us, thinking that we didn't go altogether.
"Did you guys chicken out?" He smirked.
"Nah. We finished early" Ethan said cooly, flicking a pebble at him. "The first ones here."
"Oh stop lying. Every route takes several days to go from. No way you guys finished so fast"
"We didn't take the shortest, we took the fastest" Theo replied. "Now go and fetch us some water, second-boy. Don't keep us waiting"
"If I was in the same group as you, I'll put a poison potion in the water."
"If I was, I'll drink it!"
Jayden left, no comment left to add.
I rose my head, amused. "You have a bigger bite than you look."
He shrugged.
Within a week, we will go into the Nether as our first battle. We weren't reclining as many think we are. We just came back from the arena.
None of us are afraid. We were worried that we won't make it back. Not afraid that we won't. There is a difference between the two.
I was personally sorta excited.
I'm not going to fight my own kind- no.
I'm going back as Herobrine's daughter.
My father learned of the rumors in the Overworld of his brothers breaking the rule of not having children. My father said it's better to have them fear me, not knowing where I am.
It will also ruin the suspicion of me being the child, for I will be supposedly fighting with the overworld forces.
I was told this much from the letter I received last night.
The children of his brothers: Notch and Steve, are currently unknown, though there is a rumor that the child of Notch was awoken from a slumber, and is searching for his father.
Steve's child, no one has heard of.
Kisha was fiddling with her bow, shooting arrows at the tree.
She tied a string to the arrows so she can retrieve them, easy.
One sailed past my head and landed on the tree next to me. Based on her smirk, she did it on purpose.
"The other groups are coming back- Look! They're racing to finish!" Matthew laughed.
Sure enough, kids with the letters ran toward the office, trying to finish before anyone else.
"We're first, Jayden is second. Not bad, not bad." Theo grinned. "Not bad for the first"
"Mhmm" Kisha nodded, notching another arrow, letting it fly.
"Have you guys heard? Herobrine has a daughter" Theo said suddenly. "He apparently announced it."
I mentally facepalmed.
"Yeah, and in response for the people of the overworld not to lose hope now that he has a child who will give him an advantage- Notch said out of the middle of no-where, that he has a kid too."
I took the facepalm back.
I feigned surprise. "Wait. Both confirmed they have children?"
"We don't know if Herobrine really has one. He might just be bluffing so Notch can say if he has one."
"Or the other way around," Kisha said. "It's ancient rule. They can't break it that easily."
I fiddled around the blade of grass in my hands. "True. Any word from the long lost brother, Steve? If his two little brothers are fighting, we'd think he'll show up"
"Hm. They say he died or somethin. No one knows how." Ethan shrugged. "What do you think it'll be like, being Herobrine or Notch's child?"
I forced myself not to smile.
"I can't imagine being Herobrine's daughter. Herobrine must be really mean to her or something." Kisha sighed. "Being Notch's daughter must be nice. My dad is the creator and all." She turned to me. "What about you?"
I shrugged. "I wouldn't mind being either. It's the same either way- If being the child of someone who isn't supposed to have any children will be kinda horrifying."
Kisha seemed to think about that. "True"
I didn't say the truth about being Herobrine's daughter. What was it really like.
"Wouldn't the pressure be immense too?" Theo asked. "I mean, you got some big shoes to fill if you're their kids."
"Yeah..." Theo nodded "You'd think they would be super talented or something, filling in their ranks as generals in their armies."
I stood up. The conversation was hitting too close to home. "I got something to do. See you guys"
Theo looked up, "Alright see ya"
Kisha gave me a wave, and so did Matthew. Ethan, who was lying on the floor with his arms over his eyes, gave me a nod.
I left.
