Hardest Watercolour Piece I've ever done
Correction: Hardest watercolour piece I've ever had the dumb brain to go "wooo this looks fun, I can totally do this!" when I saw it ;-;
I put the youtube video above, so yall can go check it out if you're interested in frog philosophy😌 HAHAHAH
I think partially of what made this so hard is because the video is actually not really a tutorial, which I mistook it for at first?🤣🤣 He didn't talk it through and the camera skipped a lot of the steps so I was just like "what am I supposed to be doing here" 40% of the time LMAO
Anyway, without further ado, here's the piece!
Frogoo! Needless to say, I'm kinda addicted to drawing lily ponds now😂
This took a lot of effort and was honestly really frustrating, not to mention disheartening when in the middle of the work it felt like I couldn't ever finish it and all of my family members couldn't even tell it was a frog ;-;
The dip in emotions aside, I think the work paid off! Here are some process pics:
I really don't like how the ripples turned out, and the hues of green took forever to paint. Plus, whenever I tried to paint the highlights they just faded off😭 ah well, I think it came tgt pretty well though. I mean, aside from how messy everything looks and how you can't even tell where the lily pads start and where they end PFFT
But jokes aside, here's some advice and snippets of wisdom I've picked up along the way from being discouraged:
-Never give up on your piece. No matter how bad it looks so far and how much you just want to give up on it, please don't go and destroy all your hard work so far! You never know, in my experience the end result always turns out a lot better than you'd envision :3
-No matter how tempting it is, do not compare yourself to the artist you're following! I always have these experiences where I see how well the original artist did and get so disgusted at my own work in comparison, even if my own piece was something I was really proud of before.
(Feel like I should add this in though: this does not mean in ANY way that you shouldn't use references from other artists! More experience people can typically give you a lot of tips and tricks, and even they will use other pieces for referencing. Referencing is NOT just for beginners, it's great for everyone to use... but that's a whole 'nother topic to touch on next time :D)
Alright, well I should really shut up now!! Ok thanks for reading if you made it this far ^=^
What do y'all think about this painstaking one? (Although I suppose all my artworks are painstaking at the moment xD)
Stay wormish!
