Happy birth mekoo

So I did a thing. I guess I'm kinda late in Japans time zones so technically it's completely over but she's still trending on Tumblr so I guess I'm good.

It's funny bc I haven't been a vocaloid fan for that entire decade and I've only been here for a little over a year but I've noticed how many people around me are also fans.

I told one of my friends today that Mikus 10 years old now and we listened to her during lunch.

Long before I really considered becoming part of the fandom, I had a friend who would listen to it. She especially liked the edgy stuff and thought I'd like Alice of Human Sacrifice which I think is still a good song. I didn't really listen to it but she really seemed to like it. One day in Home Ec she played You're a Useless Child and at the time I questioned her mental health when I saw the name of the song but I get it now. She kinda moved away but I want to know what she'd think of me now.

I was also going through a friends phone and she claims to not know "this vocaloid trash" but I found a really cute picture of Miku on there and it was a fun time.

Enough useless garbage. I'm proud of the entire fandom as a whole for keeping vocaloid relevant. Whether it be the amazing producers who gave us these beautiful songs, or just the fans who give them the attention they deserve.

And yeah, I know Miku becoming 10 doesn't necessarily deal with the fandom as a whole and that the other vocaloids have birthdays too but 10 years is a long time. Although I do kinda wish Meiko or Kaito becoming 10 was more iconic because they were kinda first but Miku is essentially the "mascot" of the fandom and Crypton favors her the most so here we are.

But yeah. 10 years is a really long time and there are still active vocaloid producers and fans so I'd say we didn't screw everything up.

And one last thing that's not especially relevant but I felt like sharing. So I was scrolling through the vocaloid tag on Tumblr yesterday and looking at the billions of Mikus when I noticed 2 pieces of fan art that had nothing to do with Miku. It was Rin Kagamine so I didn't question it but then I realized that both pictures were fan art of Fear Garden. You know. That song where Rin cuts people's hands off and plants them. Yeah. That one. Was it also its anniversary on the same day? Aside from those 2 particular pictures, everything was Hatsune Miku and her vocaloid pals celebrating her birthday so idk.
