I like the dark
I have my reasons
I like the dark
Because in all seasons
It stays the same
It shows you who you are
Because no one can see me
I find that I don't care
But neither do they
They only do in the light
But once I can't see them
I'm alone in the night
I'll speak out loud
Hoping they'll speak back
But suddenly they've gone
Is there something that I lack?
Is there a reason you leave me all alone
Is there a reason that I can't reach you?
Could it be because you don't like the dark
Is it because I do?
The dark has always loved me
It's always been there
So while you flee to follow the light
I'll just remain here
The light's okay, but it's not like the dark
I'll greet the dark as an old friend
And all the cuts the light has given me
They will begin to mend
But the dark can never stay
There is no dark without the light
I just wish people could see the way I see
I wish it with all my might
I'm stuck between both worlds
You care little, but just enough
To keep me trapped inside the light
It's wrapped around my hand like a cuff
It keeps me chained over here
Miserable as I may be
I know that it's still there
The dark's waiting for me
