Chapter 1
Dan
"Son, you need to listen to me. Your grandpa's health is not improving. Please, we gave you everything. He has but one wish from you."
That was the very text message which transposed my life from simple to difficult. And it woke me up. Oh hell. My head ached from too much alcohol intake last night. Well, it was not too much. I was very elated and I know I was worthy of those drinks. To top of that, the party was for me. Let us be real here. It wasn't everyday that I won a world championship, was it?
I stared again at my cellphone and wondered how a short message from this small electronics could ruin my sleep. Scratching my hair, I dialed my grandma's number and started talking once she picked it.
"I love you so much Mommu. You know that don't you? I even love you more than my new car."
"Do not compare me with your car! I called you last night and this morning. You didn't answer. Your grandpa needs you but you are not even available to answer our calls? You forgot about us already!" I smiled to my grandma's raised voice. I couldn't deny that I missed it.
"I just woke up mommu. Sorry mommu. I love you."
"Go home today. We need to talk. Besides, Shiela is a really nice girl. Her grandmother and me used to go to the same university."
"You know I am busy, I have a press conference later and I have classes tomorrow. You don't want me to miss my classes don't you, mommu?" I said in my sweetest voice. I knew my grandma couldn't resist me when I talk to her like this. Well, no one could resist me when I talk like this. It was one of the things I discovered growing up, and I intended to always use it to my advantage.
Smiling, I looked at my drawer and saw something pink. It was very noticeable on my black drawer. I reached and inspected it. Uhm, a pink wallet? My wallet was black yesterday. I massaged my temples to try easing up my pounding head. Maybe I drank too much last night. Not that I would admit that to anyone. I always was a wild one, though I managed to lay back a little when I entered law school. OK, I admit. Only a little. At least, now I don't drink without needing my security to drag me home if I passed out. But who can blame me? I'm just a man. I smile remembering all those sexy asses last night. It was one hell of a party. It was a struggle dragging me back to my car after the party. And then it hit me.
That wallet.
It was the wallet I picked in the car park of the club last night. Very curious now, I opened it. It contained few dollars, a card, and surprisly, a picture of a beautiful red hair with piercing green eyes. Nice. Very nice. Uhm, Madison Brown. That name is too common. But she's very hot. Like seriously hot. By the way, I'm a sucker for red hairs.
"You know that I don't want you to miss your classes but this is a family emergency. You should prioritize us than that press conference. I'll send Austin to pick you up and send you back before tomorrow." My grandma said, interrupting me from my thoughts.
"Mommu, I can't. I have plans already." Somehow, I can't take my eyes off the Miss Red Hotie.
"I'm going to have an heart attack because of you! Why are you--"
"I have a date tonight mommu, my girlfriend forgot her wallet in my car last night and I promised that I'll bring it to her tonight." I told my grandma. Wait, did I just tell my grandma that?
"You got a girlfriend? Who is--"
"Mommu I'm sorry I got an urgent call from Alex. I'll talk to you later OK? Love you!" I said over her excited voice and doped the phone on the bed.
Damn. I think I have the mother of all headaches.
