Tantrums
"Just pick what you want to wear, we have to leave soon." Jungkook sighs.
Asami pouts, still crossing her arms over her chest firmly and refusing to move, "No. I want Tata to help me choose an outfit."
"Tata is busy, I've told you this. Either choose an outfit or you'll go to Jin and Namjoon's in your pyjamas."
"No. I want Tata."
"Well, you're not getting him." Jungkook fires back, he's determined to not give in to his daughter's bratty behaviour.
This past week Asami's attitude has been appalling, Jungkook has never seen her be as bratty as she had been lately. She has the odd tantrum, of course, she's a child after all but she's never had this many in such a short space of time. He thinks she's been too spoilt the past months, with Taehyung joining the family and everything she had been getting a lot of attention from both of the men. Now that everything has calmed down and everyone is settled she hasn't been receiving as much attention, both Jungkook and Taehyung are busy with work and Asami is finding it hard to understand that. Sure she's able to see Taehyung at work seen as he is her teacher, but he seems more focused on the other kids lately, the ones that need more help as they are struggling in certain areas.
The little girl sits on the floor in a huff and looks away from her dad, she was just as stubborn as he was so neither of them were giving up anytime soon.
"I'm going to leave and come back in ten minutes, if you haven't chosen something to wear by then we are leaving with you in your pyjamas, don't think I'm joking," Jungkook warns before leaving the room. He needed ten minutes to calm himself, he needed space to breathe before he loses all of his composure. Jungkook walks into his and Taehyung's room and slams the door shut, causing the elder who was sitting on the bed to startle a little.
"What's wrong? Is she being a brat again?" Taehyung asks, setting his papers aside and motioning for Jungkook to come towards him.
Jungkook approaches the bed and lays down with his head in Taehyung's lap, "She kept demanding that you help her choose her outfit even though I told her time and time again that you were busy."
"It's good that you didn't give in, we can't fuel that kind of behaviour," Taehyung says softly as he cards his fingers comfortingly through his boyfriend's hair.
"She's draining all my energy lately, I feel like she's possessed."
"She just needs to adjust, we haven't been giving her as much attention lately and she's clearly acting out because of it. But we have to teach her that she can't always be the centre of attention."
Jungkook hums in agreement as he closes his eyes and enjoys the sensation of his boyfriend's fingers in his hair. He has to pull himself out of it when he realises its probably been over ten minutes and he doesn't want to be late to his friend's house. "Thank you for calming me."
"Well you know I'm your greatest stress reliever!" Taehyung says happily as he picks his paper's back up to continue reading through them.
"And I love you for it." Jungkook gives him a short kiss before leaving the room, praying that the time alone has given Asami enough time to defuse her tantrum. Much to his joy, he walks into his daughter's room and she had a dress neatly laid out on the bed whilst she played with her plushies on the floor.
"Now, was it so hard to pick that out?" Jungkook laughs as he picks up the dress and motions for Asami to come to him so he could put it on her.
Asami shakes her head, she was refusing to talk because she was still a little annoyed that her dad didn't give in to her but for now her tantrum was being kept at bay. Jungkook dresses her quickly, well aware of how little time they have before they are expected to be at Jin's house.
"Ok, let's go."
"Can I say goodbye to Tata before we leave?" Asami pleads.
"Fine. But be quick, he has work to do." Jungkook agrees, knowing he should keep her in a good mood or otherwise getting her into the car will be a nightmare. Asami nods before running to the bedroom down the hall.
"Tata, we're leaving!" The little girl says as she runs to the side of the bed.
Taehyung chuckles as he looks up from the papers, "Have fun, princess. Be good for your daddy, okay?"
"Okay!" Asami agrees before placing a soft kiss on the man's cheek and running back out of the room.
"Ready to go now?"
The little girl nods and runs downstairs to get her shoes on, making Jungkook sigh in relief as he sees his daughter back to her regular cheerful self.
"You're late!" Jin huffs as he opens the door for Jungkook and Asami.
"I'll explain why soon."
Jin nods, his expression softening as he bends down to speak to Asami. "Hana is in her room, why don't you head up there?"
The little girl nods as Jungkook finishes removing her shoes for her, as soon as their off she instantly bolts up the stairs, almost tripping as she does so.
"Why were you late? And where is Tae?" Jin asks as they walk to the living room.
"Tae's got work to do. Parent's evening is coming up so he has to go through all of the kid's work from the term and write down notes of progress and stuff. I was late because my child was being a complete brat this morning and wouldn't cooperate, so sympathise with me instead of scolding." Jungkook sighs as he sits himself down.
"She's still acting up? It's been like two weeks now, hasn't it?" Namjoon asks.
"Yep. Now that I'm working more I feel like she's doing it for attention, Tae said we just have to wait for her to adjust but how long is that gonna take? I have the added stress of being assigned more patients and then coming home to my demon child who used to be such an angel, It's driving me insane. Do you think I'm qualified enough to give myself therapy?"
Jin pats him on the back comfortingly, "She'll go back to normal soon, it's just her way of coping with not seeing you as much as she used to."
Hana runs into the room, bawling her eyes out as she jumps into Namjoon's embrace.
"What's wrong sweetheart?" Namjoon coos.
"A-asami hit m-me." Hana wails.
Jungkook glares at his daughter who was sheepishly standing in the doorway, "Asami, why did you hit Hana?"
"She took the toy I wanted!"
"And you think it's okay to hit her over it? Hitting is never okay." Jungkook angrily says as he stands up. "I'm really sorry, I'll take her home." He apologises to his friends before heading to the door.
"It's not your fault, Kook. Remember that." Jin says with a smile before seeing them out.
Taehyung was making himself a cup of coffee when he was startled by the sound of the door opening, he was confused as he didn't expect Jungkook and Asami home for at least another hour.
"Go to your room, I'll come to speak to you in a minute."
"But daddy-"
"Room. Now." Jungkook scolds causing the little girl to run up the stairs quickly and hide in her bedroom.
Taehyung comes out of the kitchen looking confused, he's never heard Jungkook speak so sternly to his daughter. "What happened? Are you okay?"
"She hit Hana. She's never done anything like this, she's always been so kind, but now she's hitting her best friend over a toy? I feel like that isn't even my daughter anymore." Jungkook starts crying, the stress of the situation finally reaching the boiling point in his mind.
Taehyung quickly walks forward and engulfs him in a hug, "Shh, It's okay." He comforts him as she slowly sways from side to side.
"It's all my fault, I shouldn't have agreed to take on more patients, If I didn't I would be here more with her and she wouldn't be acting out."
"Don't say that. She's just trying to get used to it, kids react badly to these sort of things because they don't know any better. Don't blame yourself for wanting to expand your career."
Jungkook nods against Taehyung's chest, calming down slightly due to the elder's words. "I should go talk to her."
"I'll go. I made some coffee so go grab yourself a cup and sit down in the living room." Taehyung smiles as he wipes his boyfriends tears away.
"You sure?"
"Positive. You're too stressed out to deal with this, I'll make sure she understands what she did wrong." The elder kisses Jungkook's forehead, urging him to go make himself a cup of coffee before heading upstairs to Asami's room.
He carefully knocks before going inside, he see's the little girl sitting on her bed snuggling up to her unicorn plushie whilst tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Tata?" Asami sniffles as she looks up.
"What's wrong, princess?" Taehyung softly says as he sits on the edge of the bed.
"Daddy hates me, doesn't he?"
"Don't be silly, your daddy could never hate you. He loves you more than anything in this world." Taehyung smiles.
Asami crawls towards him and snuggles up, sniffling into his shirt as she does so. "I didn't mean to hit Hana."
"I know you didn't, sweetie. But you have to understand that it's very, very bad to hit people, that's why your daddy was so mad at you."
The little girl nods in understanding, she really didn't mean to hit her best friend but she acted out of jealousy. "I'm sworry, I'll never do it again."
"I know both of us have been busy lately, but that doesn't mean we love you any less. Besides, half term is coming up which means me and you can spend as much time together doing whatever you like."
"What about daddy?" Asami asks expectantly.
"Well he'll still have to work, but we'll have mornings and evenings to spend together, and we'll always have the weekends." Taehyung tries to encourage, hoping it will convince her to stop acting out.
Asami seemed to agree, although she still seemed a little sad. Taehyung took her downstairs so she could properly apologise to Jungkook who accepted the apology straight away, giving his daughter a big hug to show everything was okay, as long as she learnt her lesson. So maybe they weren't the most perfect family after all, but they were trying their best and that's all that matters.
