Missions and Altars
Author's Note: There will be flashbacks of Lilith speaking with the president, with the house speaker present. Also, if I get a comment or DM about changing the name of Slave I, you will be ignored! Enjoy!

Lilith's POV
Meeting the president was an honor, meeting the speaker of the house not so much. The Speaker screamed trouble and not in a good way either. I returned home to see everyone still there Ashoka curious about everything around her, no one could blame her. I had a mission from the president Obi-Wan had been briefed of this mission, of course, but I got all the details.
Flashback
"Sargent Major, your job is to eliminate Chancellor Palpatine, he is a threat to everyone as you are aware." The General of The Marine corps said.
I stood at attention in my dress uniform "It will be done," I said.
The president nodded and stood up from his chair "You are taking a great risk, even more so, due to your soulmate being close to the target." The president said
"I will get the job done sir, I have no intention of allowing my mate to come to any more mental harm due to the Sith," I said
"It says here you have 25 confirmed kills, you will become a hero to many young girls." The House speaker said
"Madam speaker my loyalty first and foremost is to this country and her people, I took the oath of a soldier to protect America from all enemies both foreign and domestic," I said, "Now I shoulder greater responsibility, one that you, yourself have no idea of,"
The President nodded in understanding of my words "A warrior of God, sent out to spread God's word and love among the stars." The house speaker said.
How dare she! My jaw clinched "I am a Wiccan Madam Speaker, I value the beliefs of others unlike you." I said politely, "Wiccans have died for this country and murdered by people like you since it's settling. Washington was a man that the Native people respected few hold that title now."
The Speaker of the House of Representatives went silent at that.
End of Flashback
Obi-Wan was the first to greet me "Sargent Major," he greeted
"Obi," I returned.
Obi-wan smiled at me and walked behind me "I have been briefed, nothing I can't handle, though I am sure you will want to get this to your men it is a summary of all 25 kill missions that I was a part of, sadly the 26th saw us coming and set up an ambush." I said handing him my unclassified documents.
Crosshair walked over and skimmed over Obi-Wan's shoulder "Special operations?" Crosshair asked
"Affirmative, I served as the sniper, when I was posted to a squad I was a combat medic," I replied
"Impressive," Crosshair said with a nod.
I walked into the house and looked around at the occupants "Follow me." I said.
Fox's POV
My soulmate leads us to a basement it was full of old photos. One stood out the most. It was of a beautiful woman holding a baby in her arms and a soldier standing next to her smiling down at the child and woman. I looked at Lilith who smiled sadly "My parents the day I was born." she said sadly
"What happened to them?" Obi-Wan asked, "If you don't mind me asking,"
"My father, like myself, was a soldier, a Marien like myself, he fell in combat to an enemy sniper," she said softly, "My mother was killed in an accident, shortly before I received my first assignment."
The basement ran the entire length and width of the house, everything packed neatly in a corner was something covered, but that didn't hold my attention for very long. Something else caught my attention "Curious, I feel the force in this room," Obi-wan mused
"As do I master," Anakin stated.
Lilith looked over to where he was looking "You call it the force we call it Magic," she said with a soft curl of her lips, "My goddess watches over me, as long as you don't come with ill intent you will be fine."
"What is that table over there?" Obi-wan asked
"It's an Altar, one that I built myself," she said.
Dathamir came to mind for me and I wasn't the only one as we all tensed up "Calm down," Hunter said
"It's in the light," Ashoka said.
That took a lot of the tension out of us "The witches in Dathamir use dark magic or the dark side as you put it, over the centuries many believed those who took and gave back to the planet were worshipers of evil forces, the gods of old hold power yes, but not as much as they once had before the Christian God and his followers forced their religion on others." Lilith said softly, "People like me were burned alive for our beliefs, in the homeland of my gods their children still get the same treatment. Here in this land, we are allowed to practice our religious beliefs through many still worship the darker forces."
"So uncivilized," Obi-Wan mused.
Lilith nodded "My main goddess is Sehkmet, she is the daughter of the Sun God Ra, she is a healer in her lighter aspect." Lilith began as she walked over to the statue of a woman with an animal head, "In her darkest form she is the goddess of War, Death, Famine, and pestilence. I learned to respect her for all of who she is and what she brings."
"How many Gods and Goddesses are there?" Obi-wan asked
"Depending on the part of the world hundreds if not thousands all together," Lilith replied.
I knew one thing that was General Kenobi was that he liked to expand his knowledge of plants and cultures native to a planet. Lilith walked over to the Altar and removed the chain from around her neck. I couldn't see what it was she held so gently in her hand but it had to be a type of metal she placed the metal objects on the altar her pain and sadness radiated through my mark.
I walked over to her and put my arms around her. The things she did to me without saying a word. I looked at the metal there had to be at least 20 of the "Dog tags, it is how we identify our warriors. Name, Date of birth, city, and state of birth, blood type, and religion." she said, "Always in a set of two when a soldier dies one is removed for identifying the remains, while the other is sent to the family. Their families gave them to me to remember them. To live the lives that they would have lead once their terms of service were at an end."
She shook in my arms as I tightened my hold her voice breaking at the last words she spoke. Survivor's guilt is what she had, and she had it bad. I can only imagine what she had gone through "If only the government gave me to supply the rest with the armor that I developed..." she broke off
"It wasn't your fault," Cody said walking to stand beside me, "It was an ambush there was no way you could have known."
She looked over at the table where the cloth-covered something General Kenobi on the other hand was too interested in the markings on the altar tables' surface "Cody is right," I began, "Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la, nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la."
"Not gone, merely marching away," she said softly.
I nodded my head as Cody's General went to touch something only for Lilith's hand to shot out and grabbed his wrist. By the Force, she was fast on her reflexes "Ask before touching, it is rude to touch objects of one religion without asking first." she said.
Cody's General chuckled nervously "Apologies," he began, "But what is this book?"
"That keeps my magical workings and recipes for spells within its pages as well as other relevant information about holidays and when the best time for spell work," she replied taking the book in her hands.
It was leather-bound and hand-made by the look of it. The same markings as on the Altar covered the front cover "The markings what are those?" Anakin asked
"Hieroglyphs, they are the writing system of Ancient Egypt," she said.
I tilted my head looking at the cover "What do they mean?" I asked
"Well, you read the inscription from left to write," she said starting from the left of the page.
She read the writing of the language of how it was written. It was smooth upon her tongue it was similar to Mando'a in some ways "Or in basic," she began, "May the gods bless the workings of this book, do as thy will, harm none."
The markings on the book glowed softly causing Lilith's eyes to widen in shock "Well, that hasn't happened before," she remarked before playfully glaring at the three Jedi in the room, "I blame you three."
"Fascinating," Obi-wan said
"For you," Cody mumbled.
This, of course, earned Cody a tap on the bucket from Jango "Ow!" Cody grumbled.
Lilith's POV
Obi-Wan knelt to inspect the legs of the table. As I held the book of shadows against my chest he looked like a kid at Yule "You have two smaller altars." Ashoka pointed out
"This one is for ceremonies, the other two are for daily use," I explained
"Jester would have loved this," Jango said
"He would have, yes," I replied.
Obi-Wan moved back from the main altar to inspect the other two "Crystals?" Obi-wan asked
"Yes, crystals channel healing magic, or protection even a medium to communicate with the gods," I explained
"This disk pops up a lot what is it?" Obi-wan asked
"The Sun Disk is associated with the Sun God Ra, as well as his daughter Sehkmet," I explained, "The way the legs on one altar differ from the other."
"Yes, an arch," Obi-wan mused
"The arched one is similar in design as the thrown an Egyptian Pharaoh would sit in," I explained, "The sun disk is present to represent the human embodiment of Ra, as the divine right to rule."
Obi-wan finally stood back up and nodded "Fascinating really," he remarked
"The Ancient Egypt though the Greeks get credit, invented the calendar year that we have, as well as cosmetics, law enforcement, and medicine," I remarked
"Why were these Greeks given the credit?" Anakin asked
"Because in Greece women were seen to be weak and only good for breeding, the last Queen of Egypt, Queen Cleopatra ruled her people fairly and was loved, she was the embodiment of Isis, the goddess of magic and The Queen of Osiris. Many men tried to gain her affection for a time one did until her soulmate came along." I said, "Sadly her former lover who returned to Greece was betrayed and murdered, her soulmate and heir also. Instead of being captured, she killed herself. In the end, the Greeks saw to it they were given credit for what the Egyptians did they went as far as destroying temples of worship."
"Where is this knowledge now?" Obi-wan asked
"Lost among the shifting sands of Egypt, many temples are unaccounted for, but they have made leaps and bounds in Egyptology many sites in Egypt are protected," I replied
"Did you say sand?" Anakin asked.
I chuckled at this "Yes, Egypt is a great ancient city surrounded by sand," I replied, "But it keeps its secrets until those who are worthy find them."
Cody's POV
That night after a tasteful dinner we all retired to bed, Lilith's words lurked in my mind. A witch who served the light side of the Force was unheard of in our Galaxy, but here they thrived and fought against those who wished ill on others.
The persecution that they faced for it was horrible, as well as the detailed source material that Tech managed to pull up and translate into Galactic Basic. Even her living grandfather's people suffered for their beliefs. It was a sad thing. Jango often spoke of Mandalore and though Jedi and Sith weren't well-liked among the population they respected others' customs and beliefs when soulmates found each other.
I finally closed my eyes and let sleep take me...
